Aye, the queue time is pretty bad. But according to the “elite” the game is perfectly balanced so no idea why your queue times are so long. Maybe its a l2q issue for you…

i have seen him say thief burst is a problem, yet he hasn’t commented at all on mesmer burst (class he plays)

Most teams can’t get all their players on until later at night (when paids start popping) because there is this thing called real life responsibilities.

There are no features to push people to form actual teams. Yet.

This pretty much sums it up, imo.

For the hardest of the hardcore, they have no problem shelling out tickets for QPs that mean nothing. They play for competitions sake.

But even casual-core or normal competitive players need to be led somehow via in-game content to take the leap into tpvp.

Yeah, it was kinda a bad Idea by ANet to split up the community even further with the division of free and paid tournaments.

Especially because they should’ve known that the really competetive community will start to shrink until they’ve implemented the necessary e-Sports Features.

I don’t know of any “hotfixes” to this Problem, because its kinda hard to keep the level of play in paid Tournaments high enough and still give it a bigger player-base.

Take my Team for example: We win about 90% of games in free’s, but in paids, we win under 50%. I think that this level of play, where you are too good for free’s, but paids get really frustrating, should be targeted to move them to paids somehow.

Those Teams would still put up a good fight and make interesting games for the really really good teams, it would increase the player-base of paids quite a bit and I don’t think the teams in free tournaments would mind not getting roflstomped by teams that are out of their league (but play in it nonetheless). ^^’

With our Team, the reasons why we don’t play as much paids is:

1) Teams are too good (with more players of our caliber, this problem wouldn’t exist anymore).
2) Costs are too high and even if you farm through free’s, you don’t get enough Tickets.
3) You have to w8 too long for paids and often, we kinda think to ourselves; “we would have to w8 too long anyways”, so we don’t even try.

So how do we get those Teams into paid tournaments? Though question, here are some proposed solutions:

- Give more Tickets for winning free’s – MUCH more! (this one is easy)
- IMHO an important one: Set some sort of a time-frame or “happy hour” for paid Tournaments, where you could join paids for a decreased price. This would give undecided Teams a little push, it would tell teams when it’s most likely to get games (diminishing the Problem of players thinking about if it’s even worth making a paid-team) and it would create incentive for newer Teams to try out the paids.
It would also create some sort of a “buzz”, which this game clearly needs. No1 wants to watch r40+ PlayerX’s stream when he’s playing free’s in PuG’s, but if he’s streaming “Paid T’s Happy Hour!” with decent Teams and probably shorter w8ing-periods, it would be much more interesting.

first of all… que on prime times. i dont have any issues in eu for paids que. i get everytime a que if i que on 7 + times until 1-2;30 or longer. i would say Anet fix this chest bug if u change server. and make na pvpers come to eu to have more que pops and satisfy the na ppl. cus i hear 80 % of the na ppl qq.

the tpvp needs a matchmaking system aswell but i am afraid that it wont work with this low pvp playerbase this game have at moment. i think the pvp in gw2 will die soon , well lets see if the big pvp update in februar/march will solve some major problems so the people might come back

Well, another option would be to transfer to an EU server as the pops are at different times and longer.

I did that, then after not recieving tournament rewards for a while and losing some tournament tickets did I realize this was a serious bug and now for 7 days I can’t do kitten in TPvP with out suffering mass penalties from a bug. So I come here to see it’s been known for more than 2 months that this exists.

They implemented paid tournaments and still charged for them, of course they still made sure to leave tPvP broken in so many ways. It’s butt kittened beyond belief this is the only game I want to go back to the store choke the sh#! out of anyone who refuses to give me a refund.

Chicken and the egg situation right there. Noob teams enter tournaments and can potentially face the best teams farming tickets. After they get smashed, they give up as the learning curve is too steep.

I agree wholeheartedly, the game needs a ranking system, and it needs custom servers as well so teams can practice their tactics in a controlled environment.

If these features aren’t added in the next patch (and instead we get a new map and some balance tweaks) then I don’t think PvP will last. At the moment, people are hanging around waiting for this patch. If it doesn’t deliver, I think many people will walk away.

if i got 5 paid tournaments worth of tickets for wining the free tournament it would be incentive to win and go try paids… but i dnt know where cash shop is in this scenario.

it would also rid frees of paid teams grinding them that much. means more fun for all, more players and all play in their league…

its very easy to solve this problem , randoms and premades need to be seperated. make a free tpvp random sign up (you can only sign up alone) and a free tpvp premade sign up and the problem is solved , and maybe only allow people with r10 to sign up tpvp but i think that is not nessesary.

but then again the already low pvp playerbase get splittet again so this probably not work.
