It’s incredibly hard to outplay/outsmart an Ele. Necros can but that’s because they have that single I win button, transfering all boons into condi aswell as occasionally offering interupts via fear. That’s not exactly an, “I out smarted him” move and not everyone have these type of counters.
I just wish other classes could do the same. Rangers could given their cc abilities but that fight takes 10m. Guard’s definitely can’t but hey.. we don’t care about how unbalanced 1v1s are right?

I can kill a large amount of ele with my guardian condition why they have low hp and in the moment they endi they’re condi removal I can “burst them down”.
Or with my Necro. Before with the classic dps build, but different eles have better dps and survavibility than my necro, making me mad to kill them. Actually I can kill them a little better with a personal MM condition build that grant me good defence, condi transfer (very good against burn damage) and a general high damage with personal condition transfer damage and minion damage.
The only problem is still the Ring of Fire, that burn down a my minions easy fast, but I still can inflict good damage nd kill them frequently.
But actually there’s not a really way to kill a ele. The ele can do everything in the same time. High survavibility by water and earth and a insane direct and condition damage with fire and lightning still when using the celestial amulet, made possible by the insane amount of might they can stack easy.
I can kill an ele wih my cele ranger, i can stack alot of might and via boon sharing with my pet can hit them pretty hard. My bird can hit with taunt for 10k, just have to time it right and try to make them mess up there rotations. The problem is that it takes too long. And a good ele will not die but just reset.
just stand there, cleanse condis and throw grenades at them until they die. or press corrupt boons. or stack and cover confusion, shortly after they switched back from water.

If you say you can kill eles that easy, then you fought scrubs or laggers. I’ve met both and I know which one is which. I get to kill some of them as a medi guard but when I face a decent ele, then things get dirty.

Actually signet necro is one of the smarter metabattle builds :p
1v1 you can’t, Ele can always disengage heal up and re-engage if he is smart, if he face tanks you may be you can.
On my Ele, I just die to Thiefs, Mesmers who engage me when I am already fighting with somebody and I have %50 HP. They only chance is to instagib me.
Mesmers can do it. Boonstrip means their might isn’t too much of an issue. Whittle them down until they enter water and burst immediately after. (Unless they’re in earth)
But you’ll probably have to burst 2 or 3 times at least. Perfectly. And you can’t contest the point. And they can probably escape if FGS isn’t on cool down.
Apparently having 3 thieves bursting a single ele seems like a good start.
Usually on my necro, so long as I can get the protection off them I found I can put pressure them with my damage and throwing all their burns back at them when they rotate out of water.
But PvP so long as you can force them off point, you’ve done your job really.
ah this is all bull kitten too hard to process.

Then you either would need to change your build or practice more, because celestial signet necro counters D/D eles pretty hard if played right. The second they get any sizable amount of might you just corrupt it, and you can even force burn stacks on yourself by running in and out of RoF intentionally to instantly send them back with Plague Signet. Sometimes if they’re low enough and are using Vamp runes, sending burns back will kill them outright since the mist form will lock them out of their skills while they have all the burns you just sent back.
I usually track his IP, and try and disable his internet connection. I find if I can get my whole team together and get a real dps rotation going for a couple minutes, while the ele resets his router, I can usually down them. Otherwise….

Well, against two tanks maybe, but if you have 2 semi-decent damage-dealers, they won’t.
It’s a 1v1-build, so don’t engage it in 1v1’s unless your build is a direct counter or another D/D-Ele, it’s as simple as that.

The problem is that it takes too long. And a good ele will not die but just reset.

Even if you get lucky and somehow manage to beat them down a bit, they will just retreat and reset. Elementalists really have no weaknesses other than having their boons stripped away/corrupted and they can often re-apply those boons faster than they can be killed. So they might run off for a bit, but they will be back really soon and buffed once again.
The primary problem with Elementalists is that they do not have to choose where to be good. They get great power, defense, healing, condition cleansing, condition application, and mobility all in one spammable skill set. While other professions have to choose whether to be tough or be powerful or be mobile, Elementalists get to have their cake and eat it, too.

If the ele is using hoelbrak and life leech sigill even a cele necro shouldnt kill an ele and if you fight on nodes where you have a lot of los opportunities like on legacy waterfall they will hold also most of 2v1s .You actually have to use your thief to +1 the ele it you want to win the nodes
Beside that the key strenght of the ele is that the rotation becomes so much more easy because they are just an allrounder. They have great mobility with that they can outrotate guards,they can be used for +1,they are great in 2v2 and 1v1 and can also used as pointholders

it’s literally impossible to win against a competent d/d ele on thief, shadow arts can only force a stalemate but lacks the damage needed to kill it, even with executioner. you can literally outplay the ele everywhich way and still only hope for a stalemate (which requires a lot of stealth uptime and lucky improv procs, which by then you’ve lost the point entirely)
the stupid amount of passive burn damage (lots of 800~ ticks easily), passive blinds, passive might stacking (it’s incorporated in their dps rotation, doesn’t inconvenience them at all to stack 20+ stacks of might), stupidly high passive sustain, and stupid high base damage of d/d weapon skills makes them impossible to deal with. fire grab can hit, and usually does, harder than or as hard as backstabs.
honestly last time celestial was a the issue (ele/engie/war) i was all for nerfing the professions using them instead of the amulet itself. at this point, i just want to see the amulet removed entirely. nothing good has ever come from it, it’s been by far the most corrosive thing in pvp for years now and has only lead to overpowered builds that completely dominate and shape the meta for all the worse. it should be abundantly clear by now that an amulet that has 30% more stats than all others will never be balanced when there’s builds that are capable utilizing every one of those stats. it’s just basic math.

Celestial is a pretty weak amulet. Until you add 25 stacks of might.
Hell, I’d be using Soldiers, Clerics or Sentinels on my ele if might stacks went beyond 25.

depends on which variety. i do it on regular basis on condi / PU mes, but …. if i run into one of the earth / diamondskin / water eles it takes me such an incredibly long time that i waste half a match just fighting the ele, so usually i just disengage and go ninja cap something else, run him/her around instead, or more often more people arrive from either side and sway the fight.
some necro builds can do it, again it depends which necro flavor vs which of the ele flavors. on my necro i usually cant beat them, but other then sidestepping the firefields i can hold them off indefinitely. i like running bunker / lifedrain.
i suck vs eles on my engi cause i like to play him glass burn spec.
on my guard its again a toss up, depends which flavor. fire eles go down fairly well, but earth / water …

Lockdown Mesmer – Shut them out/rupt skill use while unloading the dps
Killshot Warrior – Long range (unkitable), zerker DPS vs that iddy biddy health pool.

Necro is NOT better than ele. A perfectly played necro can beat an averagely played ele. That is not balance.
So, I can’t go into much detail on things quite yet, but I just wanted to reassure you folks that we’re actively discussing a number of issues that are affecting balance in PvP – including, but not limited to elementalist sustain/damage. Per the usual, we’ll be talking to you folks about the changes once we’ve finalized them.

Well at least these changes will be carefully thought out instead of a random hotfix that overnerfs things. As we all know from the spirit ranger era of 2013, overnerfing ele is very easy to do, and the results are quite spammy (get it? ranger shortbow spam while permenantly evading under protection? xD)

I’ve dueled some of the best cele ele’s in the game. The only way to win (land 2x zealot’s fire, PF, JI and work around Water cleanses, cantrip cleanses, invuln/block/dodge their Fire bursts) is to play a perfect game and for them to make a mistake.
An Ele should never lose to a Guardian. Period. The one’s you played were not very experienced.
