solo queue is just the worst system ever
4v5 doesn’t only happen to you, it happens to the opposing team too so in the long run it doesn’t affect your rating. Play more matches and get a bit higher up in rating, you won’t really find people who don’t enter queues or leave games there.
Not saying 4v5 isn’t a problem and they shouldn’t fix it, but saying it’s the reason high level players are on the bottoms of the leaderboards is a lie.
While it does happen to everyone I think that saying in the long run it wont affect your rating is a bit bold since luck is a factor involved but in theory it should pan out in time.

I don’t care what the matchmaking is based off of. 4v5 should not happen. It should either be fixed or the players given the option to freely leave the match and it not ding their rep.
I don’t mind getting my kitten kicked by a better team. But the 4v5 thing is just insulting. The fact that it is allowed to continue is pretty boggling.

Right now, though, I’m starting to lose my enjoyment of pvp and that is just kittens and rainbows.

maybe anet should have made sure the matchmaking worked properly before releasing any PVP mode.

10 people queue’ed up : 5 best ranked got put together against the leftover 5.
Resulting in a unbalanced match from start .
Its even possible to sync in solo Que, bypassing the hole idea of a solo Queue.
So do not blame folks for leaving a match , blame anet for not leaving them with any other chose.

Rating is where you stand on the leader boards you are matched up with others in your rating range.
Rank is from farming…. Im actually one of the lowest rank people on the leader boards because i dont farm spvp I have other important more fun things to do like watch paint dry.

I said it when I started this topic, IMPLENTING STUFF is one thing, MAKING IT TO WORK is another. Its been months since solo queue was added and not a single thing was done, as in PVE ok here you go new content, oh my god a bug there, lets fix it.
Im sure of it now Anet devs are just understaffed when it comes to PvP, which is a pity….and all that bullkitten about we have to take a look and test it first is just rediculous. ITS JUST A WAY OF THEM TO MAKE TIME and DO NOTHING.
They are listening to TOP TEAMS but are not doing a THING about it. By now they havent got a single top team left because they are all bored of it and are tired about the fact that there is no incentive to play.
Even with rewards and the combat that is really fun GW2 is a just a casual PvP game and thats just pitty as it had so much potential….

I’ve been suggesting this for ages and so have others haven’t heard anet comment on it at all it’s pretty sad. They marketed this game as esports and it seems to get the least amount of development time. I don’t know how they except to reach esports status when the pvp here is pretty much a side project

I don’t care if they’re in the top 10 or the bottom 10, as long as we have even teams. I only recently tried solo queue, but I haven’t yet been in a 5v5 match. Watching my wife play it, I see a lot of 4v5 and 3v5, but still no 5v5.
But hey, I’d love to be hopelessly outnumbered on a more random map! I could fall to my death at the bottom of the Temple, but then my new Underdog’s Amulet would double my stats to make up for the missing half of the team.

The WvW team is taking out the majority of the lake (and underwater fighting) in the borderlands map and no new content from the Living Story team has involved water fights. Has ArenaNet lost faith in underwater combat and now phasing it out of all gameplay types?

I know you have several things on this priority list but if your team really is larger than 2 people why does everything take so long? It is very discouraging to see the living story teams move heaven and earth every two weeks, but the only updates to pvp are basic features that don’t even work.
It also doesn’t make sense to only talk about it when its ready (when there is a clear release date) considering all these things have been released when they clearly were not.

I’ve been wondering that, too. Do you remember back when they hinted that underwater combat was taking a lot of the development time, and they boasted that there was nearly as much gameplay underwater as there was on dry land?
Personally, I think the only real problem with underwater combat is that there are so few skills to choose from. There are no new skills added, but most are taken away when you dive in. That’s why so many people complain about it. Remember what they’ve said so many times about not wanting to split skills for PvP/WvW/PvE because you have to relearn your whole skill bar? Well, consider what happens to it when submerged in water. So many of the skills we’ve come to know and love are taken away from us there. Some (possibly all, I don’t know) may have good reasons, but if that’s the case, come up with some kind of replacement. Not just a big red “X.”

That would be nice. I’ll use dota 2 as any example. Everyone has to click ready or the game will not start and you go back in que. That’s how GW 2 should be, you have to click the “Go Now” button. If someone doesn’t the game simply doesn’t start and everyone goes back in que.
Yes it sucks having to wait some more, but I’d rather wait a few more minutes then starting a game where it’s 4v5 or someone is afk.

The idea of SoloQ is great, the implementation is just quite average really. Its like it was designed by some high school kid there are major flaws in the system that have been there since it first came out.
I’m guessing like 20% of games aren’t even balanced games due to starting 4 v 5 or someone who quits about 1 minute into the fight. The frequency of this occurring probably happens less the higher your MMR goes up but as the MAJORITY of players aren’t in the top 1000 I guess they have to suffer with clueless/absentee players ruining their experience and probably in the process kill of the pvp population even more.
If theres one thing that needs to be fixed first up for SoloQ, its this 4 v 5 and people leaving the game (maybe not a fix, but a much harsher punishment). You’d think Anet would have learnt from their mistakes from Team PVP but sadly no.
new amulets eh? That would be interesting. Hopefully they all have half the overall stats as the current ones. The huge power difference between full tank and full dps stats needs to be shaved down a bit to make this game not a game of unkillable gods and instant burst. Allowing more middle of the road play styles and builds.

Hmm…personally, I like the water in that map, it provides a shortcut as well as an escape route, and hardly anyone do water battle there, unless you jumped in yourself and was prevented by opposing team from going out of water…
Really don’t see why people would complain about that. Anyway~ as much as I don’t wish the water to be gone, I wonder if the hole on top is gonna be filled or not. Because if not, when part of the Temple become a mini Skyhammer, people’s reaction is gonna be hilarious I bet lol.

I think i’ve done 50 solo queue games now (in EU) and i haven’t had a single game with uneven numbers at the start. I’ve had leavers though but that’s halfway the game and usually because one team is losing badly

On the state of the game last week the devs said they will put some kind of floor there that won’t kill you from falling onto it. So it won’t be insta kills

I agree gareth. New could mean anything with how vague those kinds of hints are.
If they make a % tweak to damage stats while also slightly nerfing healing power, then I think it would be great for the game. Nobody wants a bunker meta, but at the same time there is too much damage, especially from condi damage.

(i still play to win though) but without high hopes.

If you’re just doing it for your dailies, you might as well 5v5 hot join.
- Joining in the middle of a match still counts, so you only need to play 2.5 games.
- If people leave, other people can and do join to replace them.
- No waiting between matches.

SoloQ is not as bad as ppl claim… It’s just lacking players… If we had more players there would not be any problems with it.
ppl on top of the leaderboards get matched with ppl on the bottom of it because if they don’t, they will stay in queue for hours. The system is matching theme up because there is no one else on there “level” to match them with…
Just do as i did: go back to hotjoin and enjoy the fun untill they dont fix matchmaking. Yah, you dont have any leaderboards to show for, but its a lot less random than SoloQ right now (meaning its actualy easier to make you team win a hotjoin match if well played, than an outnumbered SoloQ if well played)
Sorry but the only reason hotjoin can be fun is by roaming with a couple of friends and destroy everyone on your path aka zerg fest, we have that already in WvW, it gets very boring and Im not going to farm glory because there are NO REWARDS anyway for it. Again the word no incentive to play…
For now I only use hotjoin if I want to learn a new class all there spells and abilities or do some combos but in a custom arena its way more fun when doing 1v1 2v2 with friends.

Removing something is easier than fixing it, no?
But this is very sad. Underwater combat was very promising like how GW2 PVP was when it was on its hype stage.
Anyway, I love solo que. The problem is that because of a stale meta, and major issues like 4v5, erratic matchmaking (which is basically a result of a very low PVP population) and long que times between matches, I feel like I’m not enjoying it to it’s full potential. I really wish it’s fixed soon and not removed just like what they’re doing to underwater combat.

Remember when you and Grouch used to complain in HoM and on your streams about the lack of open communication with A-net? How does it feel knowing you’re now the source of the frustration you guys used to condemn?
Underwater combat could be fun, but since they are unable to balance properly land combat, adding underwater will make them crazy.
You will have half a guy trying to balance land and water combat while fixing a bug while getting the ok to the balance from the wvw and pve team and fighting against 10 burocracy guys. Atleast now he has half the work, he can’t do it, but atleast he isn’t going crazy and having desires to burn everything.
