I just would like to hear people opinions on burn guardians and condi engineers. Ive actually played less ele lately and ive found that the stacks of burn from these 2 classes get really high really fast. They also both have alot of skills for alot of blocks or invulnerability. Ive actually found them annoying in many ways, especially when they use vamp rune and get a passive get away.

Just wondering what peoples classes are and how they feel about these 2 condi builds.

It seems counter-intuitive for a condi build to use a vamp rune. In any case, the vamp rune passive “annoyance” you describe is not a feature exclusive to condi engi and condi guard.

Both of these builds feel balanced to play and play against, in my experience (though I’ve never tried condi engi).

Burns from condi Engi come in short bursts, are avoidable, and have long cooldowns. The largest burn bursts come from the rabid p/p Engi, which is a yolo all in build. You know when the burn burst is coming because it is most likely shortly after the Engi stealths, or if you can see him you’ll notice the IA icon on his status bar.

Burnguard would be fine if thier burn combo was rly burn combo, stacking 3/4 burns every 5/6 sec is just too strong gives almost no counterplay for players that cant spam condi clear… And there is gw2 problem, why i can ignore 10 bleed stacks but i need to cleanse burning before it gets higher than 3, its way easier to burn enemy than keep high bleed stacks on them why anet rewards easy mode in condi play instead of more “skillful”…

kdaddy – if you really want to play an OP condi build, consider Mesmer. The problem with high stack burn builds is they get shut down easily with generosity sigil. It prioritizes burns over other conditions. Burn builds I feel are far easier to counter.

Then you have your cleansing from skills and traits and Cleansing from a few other sigils and runes.

Mesmers deliver a lot of conditions including confusion/torment and burning/bleeds. They are trickier to cleanse.

2. Equip runes of Lyssa or Melandru.
3. B-line and condi-bomb or crit strike them to death.

For burn guardians – sigil of generosity is your cure.

I understand the counter just wondering how everyone felt about them. Saying sigil of generosity to me says people think there fine but I find it a bit weird to look at it from a 1 vs 1 stance.

Now the engy one always get me cause they can stealth. I will literally be standing at a point decapping and capping and boom i get hit by this condi engy. 3/4 of my health is gone and i brought this up cause on this day of PvP i ran into a thief -burn gaurdian combo. They were teamed up and i ran into them 3-4 times and the thief would stone me and the guardian burns and use sr so i didnt see them coming. Basically instant death for me except on my staff ele.

I wouldnt have a problem with either build at all if simply condi cleanses remove the highest condi amount. Like i weapon swap on warrior when i have 8 stacks of brun and weakness and it removes weakness……..

Or on my ranger i use the pet to heal and remove 2 condi and it removed psn and chill instead of the bleeds/burns and torment.

Last one- fighting a trap ranger and a condi mesmer. I ran into his traps didnt see either of them, instantly i see staff skill 5 of mesmer around me. I have insane amounts of condi at this point. I attune to water/cleansing ire/ healing rain and almost all the condi are gone. The 2 that isnt is the 15 stacks of bleeding and 12 stacks of confusion. Just a bit of unknown frustration by me i guess.

Howdy parner. Any high burst build with a thief out of stealth is almost insta-death. Be it shatter Mesmer, burn guard, zerk warrior, s/w ranger on quickness…

Burn guard is a troll build that can work against inexperienced players. Confusion/Torment Mesmer is another troll build that doesn’t kill as fast as burn guards and also doesn’t die as fast as burn guards but can really annoy players with more experience.

yes yes, change sigil and runes to counter 1 enemy, seems like legit tactic. I wanna see moment when you wont get sigil proc when you get 12burn stacked, also with melandru u will get like 1 less tick per burn that doesnt rly save you

Well, if you prefer another way, stay at range. They can only burn you up close. Treat it like mesmer shatter. Make sure you have condi removal and gap openers in your build. Burn guards are weak to conditions AND direct damage. Puts focus target, and beat them down. Bunker/Medi guards are the tough ones.

Edit: Also, make sure to have decent condi removal in your build. Lyssa is nice because it is active condition removal, but you should still have some other way to shed conditions in addition. Facing a burn guard without condition removal is like fighting a thief without armor. We all know how that ends…
