spvp needs to be revamped .not alot of players willing to grind to rank 80 just for eye candy looking armor and when the stats from rank 1 to rank 80 gear stays the same .i feel if your willing to put the time into spvp you need to be rewarded for it

I prefer that the stats stay the same so nobody has a big advantage over someone else. But i do think the rewards are not worth it atm. After i got to rank 20 i barely touch spvp anymore as it takes forever to gain just one rank past 20. And im not a bad player(not claiming to be a super good one either),but ive gotten the top score many times in hotjoin. Usually nets me 250-380 points but even with glory booster popped its just way to much grind for the next tier of armor. I would love to see a way to earn pve rewards for playing spvp! Similar to GW1 and how you could get zkeys with balthazaar faction, and then sell them for pve money. It would make the grind for the next tier bearable. I also think this would bring more pve players into spvp as well, instead they are completely seperated right now.

What keeps me from playing a lot of spvp isn’t the normalized gear (one of the best things about it actually), it’s just the lack of variety in gameplay.

After I play a couple games, I don’t really feel like playing another one. Not because of the rewards given for winning, but just because the gameplay experience itself is quite shallow. Seems like the majority of depth in gameplay regarding getting better is more just knowing where to be at what time than anything else. While there are certainly some nuances to learn in the actual combat, I feel like there isn’t enough to it. Once I know what I’m doing with a profession, which doesn’t take long, there doesn’t seem to be much to get better at and it’s more just about being at the right place location wise. This is made worse by the lack of build variety in many professions, further reducing your opportunities to try new things and learn them. Sure you can try weird stuff, but it becomes pretty clear what’s worth taking and what isn’t before long.

It’s good to have coordination with your team be a facet of gameplay, it certainly should be. But it’s kinda dull when it’s SUCH a large facet of success. Sometimes I feel like if I just had a good AI bot that played my profession, I could get far too much of the full experience of spvp by just clicking spots on the map occasionally to tell it to go there next.

I’d like to see more of a balance between where you should be and what you actually do when there contributing to success.

If rewards are to be redone, it will not be in the form of more powerful stats. The best rewards should be cosmetic (truly unique gear/titles) and come from winning tournaments, not from grinding rank in hotjoin.

I agree that it needs to be improved, right now there is nothing to work towards other than having fun and winning matches/grinding rank for different copies of pve armor.

I think that new game modes would also make it way more entertaining. They should add both better rewards and new modes. Competitive missions in gw1 were really fun. id like to see them make a comeback in gw2.

I don’t understand people’s problems with sPvP. You’re looking at it the wrong way. You don’t “grind to rank 80 for better looking gear”. You just play the game, get better, and everything else comes secondary. The whole premise is based on being able to play any class you want, with any gear and any build. It gives you the option to become fully proficient with any given class in small scale pvp where you don’t have NPC’s to get 25 stacks in your sigil before you even fight, or food buffs, or gear differentials.

I know what the S stands for in spvp hanzo :p . But rewards is the incentive that keeps me playing. If there is nothing to earn out of playing it(as playing the same game modes and maps over and over gets boring). There is no reason for me to stick around. The current gear rewards are much too steep, and i dont wana put that much time into earning them. Unless many agree with me this isnt goign to change, so no worries. Im sure the current pvp will stay the same for you. Ill just stick to pve where there are more things to do. and the gear i want i can actually get, without playing fooorever.
