Firstly: Go watch some paradigm or AC streams. Follow their ele’s. It’s probably a combination of l2p issues and needing to get your team to work on their cohesion better. If you don’t have a team, that’s also a problem.

Thieves are awesome, yes. HS spam is easy to counter though and leaves the thief dead meat. It’s called dodge. Luckily, every class can do it.

Warriors currently have akitten gimmick in FZ>BR>EP>HB. IF it connects it’s an insta-gib vs most people (engi’s and mesmers can get out of it 100% of the time even if it hits, thieves/rangers can do it if they’re slick). If that gimmick crap doesn’t connect, the warrior has a good 60 seconds before he can set it up again. Luckily there’s an ability called dodge which negates this gimmicky spec entirely and even more luckily every class has access to it for free.

Seriously though, go watch team AC’s ele stream for an hour. He’s unkillable, and nukes down people like mad. Proper attunement switching leaves him capable of tearing teams apart with extreme prejudice. Ele is fully viable, just takes some finesse. Warrior’s are becoming less viable as people discover the dodge key as the gimmick is their ONLY viable spec.

Warriors are not that good, as you might think. 100 blades? Dodge-roll. Problem solved. Bull’s Charge? Dodge-roll. If you’re getting killed by 100 blades, well, you gotta practice more.
Thiefs? Well, yeah, I agree that D/D thiefs have the easiest lerning curve. But they also can be countered.
Regarding Elementalists… well, as I’ve never played one, I don’t know how good\bad they are, but most elementalists I’ve met were… frags. Though I’ve met a few, that were really good and hard to deal with. So, i suppose, it’s all about getting used to the class, imo.

As an elementalist and thief, here my take on it.

Frenzy/hundred blades is pretty easy to dodge really. If you get hit by it, you can just mistform or shadowstep out. Both break stun, and have similar cooldown.

Using my thief I prefer a pistolwhip build, but i have d/d as secondary a lot.
It is pretty easy to play, but once you face people who know what they’re doing you actually need to think

For ele i use valkyrie amulet with berserker jewel, and it works wonders (scepter/dagger)

ok… i have played 470 games with mesmer, 218 with thief, 150 with guardian, 25 with engineer and around 10 with other professions and tbh they are not so OP and you make them sound + Anet alredy changed HS abit

If you are talking about 8v8 “hot join” you can pretty much wreck ppl with any profession

Neverwho, you are correct anything can be countered. That’s not the point of the post. Balance is an issue. These skills are op and easy mode. As a d/d elementalist I should be able to dish out the same burst damage as a thief or warrior or they should get nerfed.

Talking strictly d/d. This is not about l2p but balance. D/d should be putting out same burst damage or nerf thieves. Makes little since that a melee caster does less damage with less survivability.

Warriors are right about where they should be, as you gain skill as a player the 100 blades builds will become easier to deal with. (they’re still scary lethal, especially if you’re already distracted by another player! But you’ll learn to cope.)

Thief, Mesmer, and Guardian are all a little ahead of the pack. I currently think that this happens in large part because of the Amulet selection options. Thief and Mesmer have illusions/stealth/shadowstep options that allow them to have relatively high survivability while taking Beserkers amulet.

Other classes need to look to their amulets for survivability options, and wind up with a compromised damage source and feel week. The exception is the Guardian, who just does better than any other class at staying alive and providing support to allies, giving them the option of playing alternative roles or – like the mesmers and theives – grabbing a Beserkers Amulet and going to town.

If they would open up the customization options a little more and give us spectator mode I think we would find new ways to use the existing classes and more insight into the balancing issues that persist.

Yeah but the difference is night and day between a melee elementalist and a thief or warrior. One class I can spam one button and have no clue what I’m doing vs the other where I bust mykitten with a class I have mastered doing less damage with less survivability.

Morkai, nerfed? Nope, cuz warriors are REALLY easily countered. Thiefs nerfed? maybe, but… Elementalist buffed? Necros gotta be buffed too then. And all the other professions, that needs a little bit more practice to get good at should be buffed so they can just use 3 buttons and kill anyone, who’s not paying attention or new to the PvP. But that’s silly. I think, that elementalists need to be more “rewarding” than they are now, as it’s a pretty difficult profession to get used to. That’s gotta be your point, I suppose. If you are good as ele, you can already feel good, cuz there’s a very few good elementalists out there. But if it’s not rewarding enough already, just roll warrior or thief and play them, get bored after 5 matches, go back to ele.

I would contend that games sould be balanced first and formost for the most skilled tier of play, and that only small concessions should be made for the lower tiers of play inorder to create a more gradual slope in the learning curve.

Attempting to balance for all tiers simotaneously is… a much more difficult task, one I do not think a game with 8 classes is likely to succede at.

If I take your words differently, you could be suggesting that all classes be equally difficult to learn to play. I guess I don’t have an opinion about this. I am not bothered by the thought the Thief class migh have a shallow depth of skill. I suppose I can see how you would be, but I myself don’t care.

seems like when you play with your thief you get opponents who are afk and when you play on your ele you get ppl who are not… if you meet guys in 8v8 who just let you kill them that dosent mean the class is op

and clearly you have NOT mastered ele if you cant kill ppl with it

all I can say is: condition application was nerfed on most classes, but for some reason thiefs and warriors were left out and still have high duration conditions and are able to stack bleed to 20 easily on their own.

If you nerf thieves, pls nerf deathshroud;b… But honestly don’t believe that warriors or thieves are that bad.. Also remember it is a party play not 1v1.. And if thieves can’t kill someone 1v1, thenkitten.
Also engineers can be pretty annoying and durable with the right spec…
I think the balanced it okay imo:) but then again I most say elementalist feel less lackluct and weak, so maybe just buff them a bit.
Or instead of staff ranged and dagger close, give thme traits or something to decide how they want to play or buff them in melee (more toughness and vitality and faster endurance) so the becomes spellslinging thives:D

But yeah as most ppl stated I don’t find any prof op.. Just some annoying skilled ppl playing guardians and necroes xD

Thief is fine. Warrior needs a buff if anything, they either build gs burst which has multiple counters, or build hammer mace cc machine which is countered by group stability. Ele’s are above both classes imo when played properly.

Every topic is the same. Players that get killed by someone go on forum and start posting nerf threads. Everyone else that get owned like OP support him, all others spaming L2P. 0 sense, 0 constructive critics, just bunch of kids and internet tough guys arguing over their hurt kittens.

@ OP im not playing thief or warrior but from my experiance as ranger thiefs can be countered and u usually have chance to react even if u do one mistake not dodging one of his attacks. On other hand with warrior if u make that one mistake his 14-15k dmg burst in a sec gets me pretty fast not saying its OP even tho from my perspective its little too much, its just i still didnt find a way to counter that.
