stunbreak vs knockdowns
I had believed it was intented for (artistic?) reasons. Activating a stunbreak while being launched from say Stomp and suddenly having both feet on the ground would be rather ridiculous visually.
While I agree with you it stopped bothering me a whle ago.
If it’s for artistic reasons then I wonder why using Shadow Step utility ports you away and has you standing up even though you sit there for the full duration of the stun anyway.
This is most definitely an oversight / bug / issue and Arenanet has extremely poor development speed for anything PvP related so it, along with anything else PvP related, takes far too long to have actually addressed.
Seriously believe that this isn’t a PvP oriented game, and that it’s just a PvE game with a little side project / mini game called SPvP (Side Project vs Players!).
Just look at the amount of PvE content / mini games / achievements / living story 2 week release schedule / anything PvE related to sPvP and WvWvW. Not hard to put two and two together.
This is anything but a PvP oriented game. And so many sales were made based on lies to create hype to generate more sales. The most infuriating part is they don’t stand behind all the crap they preached / blabbed their meatflaps about in interviews and whatnot else
Don’t get knockdown mixed up with launch.
Knockdowns you can stunbreak immediately.
Launch you can’t break until you actually hit the ground. It was designed to work exactly this way.
because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.”
It is annoying, stunbreaks should be disabled while effected by ‘launch’ so that players do not waste their stunbreak (stunbreaks which grant stability should remain enabled). Or let us stunbreak normally during launch…

Launch is not breakable when someone, as you stated, “hits the ground”. Rather, you have to wait until your character is done flopping around and the stun duration is almost completed in order for the stunbreak to work, which effectively nullifies the use of stunbreaker to avoid more incoming damage, and will even waste a stunbreak.
What doesn’t fit in this situation is that you’re punished for reacting quickly which should quite honestly be the aim of stunbreaks, not to sit there and wait a particular amount of time, while taking extra damage, waiting for that animation to stop flopping / bouncing your character.
This is just wrong in any competitive game that utilizes crowd control effects. The punishing factor should be lack of reaction time, not the opposite.
Reacting EXACTLY when needed is just as important as reacting quick if you ask me. Perhaps even more so. Anyone can press 1 button pretty quick, but it takes some experience to know when exactly to do it.
