Just confused by whether you meant you ran against a 5 thief team and lost, or ran AS a 5 thief team and lost (your sig says you mesmer).

Yah i gotcha i like to play all the classes lol. (except for ranger warrior and gaurdain)

If you play an engi and cant get rid of phantasms you seriously need to learn to play, sorry.
Engis have so much AoE damage (and yes, I only play engi) phantasms should explode well before you do.
Hrm, maybe youre right about 5 mesmers but I have yet to meet a team of them.

LOL
Mesmers take a lot of skill. In fact their skill cap is so high no one has reached it yet.
no one has reached skill cap on any class, doesn’t change the fact that mesmer is extremely strong for little effort because their abilities are very strong and varied with a variety of different specs.
mesmers cast so many illusions they’re under illusion that somehow their class is infinitely harder to play than other classes.
how can you create a cheese team when the game is based off capture point.
“if you play an engi and cant get rid of phantasms you seriously need to learn to play, sorry.!”
Not if they are specced into phatasms and illusions. And if they are specced to debuff you when they get destroyed…have fun.
Also, as a guy mentioned above, the visibilty is a problem. Just take 3 Asura mesmers and let them spam their stuff and good luck of finding the true mesmers hehe
However, it seems that A-Net consideres mesmers’ combination of damage, survivabilty and mobility balanced as well as burst damage some classes can dish out with quickness. Which just tells me that the pvp in this game is going nowhere anytime soon.
teadoa if you had read the first post that already has answered that question, Not gonna lie i have done the many mesmers thing including making all the mesmers look the same with the same name nearly ie: mr damo/mr dámo/mr damó but its cheap and im seeing more and more of this happening,
Skills on a mesmer that are borderline op when theirs one become magnified when you have mutiple of them. want a capture point example fine,
Initial fight on keep 5 chaos storms in a row on the point, 2-3 time warps in a row (30 seconds quickness gg) or 2-3 moas, aoe shatters plus all the visual confusion means you arent winning that team fight. ok go elsewhere, doesnt work they portal all over the map so every fight reads the same as the keep fight just described. Of course you dont need 5 mesmers to do this, 3 will do so if your feeling imaginative you can chuck 2 ridiculously tanky guardians into the mix if you like so in the unlikely event you can ever kill anyone you wont get a stomp and certainly won’t take the point before the uber skilled mesmers come back.
Its cheese because its skilless and taking advantage of mechanics and skills that are head and shoulders above other comps capabilities.
Only last night we beat a team that was running a defensive comp quite easily, 2 tournies later they are rolling 5 mesmers and suddenley miraculously they must have become 300% better players cos they won easily.
I thought that mesmers were to good in khylo for treb but the more you bring the worse it gets in terms of opness
It’s been brought up before, they should implement a profession cap on tourny teams. It would go a long way in improving balance. The only people who would complain are those that equate skill with exploiting imbalances in a rushed unfinished game.
I would even be interested in seeing an 8v8 1 of each profession “highlander mode” like in tf2. Of course I realize by the time something like that came out there wouldn’t even be enough players around to play it and therefore justify its existence.
