I only recently found out I can swap toons during a match. If I swap as soon as I am dead, as long as my toon is in HotM I can be back almost as quickly as I would have respawned. 2-3 seconds behind at most. If I had a really fast computer, I might even be able to be back before I would have respawned in the first place.
Is there a general feeling about doing this? Since I almost never see anyone else do it, I’m wondering if people consider it cheating or unfair? Also wondering has anyone developed any good strategies that specifically involve this “tactic”?
Several times now on Forest I have started thief, stole their boss, and swapped to guardian the first time I died. More recently I have started on warrior to immediately contest far as long as I can, then when I die I swap to guardian.
But I can foresee very powerful counter-strategies basing around this. If you have the toons geared and in HotM then anytime you get owned you can quickly switch to a hard-counter to what owned you, and so on.
Or for example a team has a decent lead and swaps to all bunkers. Or say foefire a team has 350 points and swaps to lord-snipers.
Or maybe you even make 3-4 of the same class but different builds so upon death you can switch up your build to better suit the enemy composition.
I could imagine having like 5 different guardian builds that I can freely switch between within a match. SInce you can’t change builds in match, is it cheating to do it by swapping toons? Or is it simply a benefit to those willing to make the effort and make good choices swapping?
