As the title asks, what roles can the Guardian play in tPvP other than bunker?

I main a Guardian and have close to 1000 hours as one at this point. However, I haven’t touched tPvP and I’m curious as to what role I could play other than bunker or a dedicated buff kitten.

support, balanced point defender, spirit weapon build and others that you can google.
and yes dps guardian is more than viable I’ve seen ones that have completely wrecked havoc in frees as well as paids but still very uncommon

Well each prof can only have 3 roles, which is kinda sad: burst, condition or bunker.
Just play burst, it’s quite OP and you can kill enemies 2v1 within a second easily. I suggest doing it before they nerf it

My main concern is how competitive Guardian burst builds would be compared to other ones. They have the damage if built correctly for sure, but would it be a viable choice versus picking a Thief or Mesmer or even Warrior instead?

The problem is the mobility and time-to-kill. I’m confident that in a fight to the death on a capture point I could kill bunkers or other roamers, but I’m wondering if the movement speed between points, the inability to run from a battle, and the slower burst (relative to a Thief or Warrior) would prevent me from being a viable option.

I suppose I could go a burst/survival hybrid, but that leaves me confused as to what my role would be in a competitive team.

what about bruiser? i think a roaming guardian who knows what ihe is doing can be a quite good PD/roamer as mesmer

I don’t think thats a good idea. Guardians are just not enough mobile to be good roamer. Close point defender with a dps build(but you can’t relocate fast to anywhere like a mesmer etc) or mid defender 0 dmg crap are the two option atm as i see, but maybe this is just me.

How to play as a non-bunker guardian

1. Log out
2. Reroll to thief
3. Spec for dps

We play with a semi-bunker guardian and a duellist guardian (close point). The majority of guardians play bunker because their strat need a bunker guardian. A different strat/setup will be more optimal with another kind of guardian.
