Q:

Hey guys,

so I’m having a question about tPvP as a premade team. I’m playing with some guildmates, and we started playing free tournaments lately. Our problem is, we either get very easy wins or perform very bad and loose. Because of this it’s kinda hard to tell if we do something very wrong, or just have bad luck.

Our team is build up from three very experienced WvW players, and two others who are kinda new to GW2 or to PvP. We are currently experimenting with builds and classes, but it doesn’t seem to have a big impact on our performance. Like I said, easy wins or we get eaten alive by groups full of highranked guys. We even tried paid once, but… well.

Classes are the following:
WvW group: 1. warrior/necro, 2. thief/warrior, 3. necro/engineer
Guildies: 4. ele/guardian, 5. warrior/necro

So, my question is: what kind of setup would you suggest? I’m not asking for specific builds, but what classes we should bring to the field and for what kind of roles. If you think we lack mesmer or whatever, I guess we could adapt. Oh, and we always use Teamspeak, and the WvW “core” has some long-time experience in PvP teamplay.

I’m not interested in full gc setups, but sth like a viable basis so we can improve our teamplay without being out of chance from the beginning.

Thanks

I’m by no means a top player but I’ll give my advice anyway.

The usual set-ups you see: Guardian bunker- necro condi/bunker-Mesmer home point portal- thief or warrior with high burst – Ele/engi bunker far point.

For example in forest of nifhel: Necro goes upper keep, guardian goes straight keep and sticks on the point, Mesmer on homepoint and portal between keep and homepoint, high burst roams between points helping, far point harass by ele/engi.

So you can do two things: You focus on your home point/mid point. Or you go a little further and you harras far point.

Anyway, Teamspeak is allready a big benefit. Stick to your roles/points and report the movement on the field. In that case the roamer can come help or you can adjust positions very easily.

Do not panic! This will mess up your positions.

Bunker= Hard to kill
Roamer= High mobility, High dps

Check for some basic builds on the forums/ gw2builds.com

Now I explained it very simplistic, but you can work on this.
Just keep in mind, that you need to hold the point or keep it atleast neutral so the other team doesn’t get points. It’s something people tend to forget in the heat of the battle.
