Hey guys I was just wondering how you guys target people. Like say for an example the enemies are 2 thieves 5 minions and 2 players, do you click on them or press tab really fast or what?

Also do you think there should be a key besides esc key to remove person from target, say you gotta get away with rtl and you don’t want to target the target.

Targeting in this game is rather crappy tbh, and because of that, it benefits some classes more than others, mostly mesmers and thieves since they have the ability to make sure you drop them as your target.

to your second question about rtl: click the ground

Left-Click anywhere else on screen, target detargeted.

thanks for telling me how to untarget, I never knew that and that’s pretty helpful. But how do you guys target in pvp game do you press tab quickly? do you use closest foe? do you click on them?

I click on my targets most of the time. I prolly should practice with the tabbing enemies but it’s more frustrating in my experience with Minion Masters and Mesmers with a bajillion clones here and there. Pressing tab is cool for other classes without an army of NPCs.

And for thieves, they are a special case so I spam Target Nearest Enemy. Stealth is a kittener. No wonder Thieves and Mesmurs rule in hotjoin sPVP. The frustration in targetting them everytime they drop target.

It takes a bit of practice, but I’ve gotten used to disabling auto-target and relying either on clicking on my desired target, or using the “Target Nearest” keybind.

You can’t blame us. Targetting is a not so much of an issue if you factor out Stealth or abilities that drop target, is it? XD

Reselecting a thief is trivial, and it’s easy to tell apart the real mesmer. Players who are still having trouble figuring out the real mesmer.. well, that’s a skill or noob issue.

I have to agree that the targeting system need to be revamped abit, mesmers and theifs (hate those two classes with a passion) are to annoying to keep on target, if your fighting a thief unless you ctrl+ T them there lost and your target will always swap to one of there illusions mid-fight, its bad enough they can make a new illusion in a matter of a second it seems, (i wish I could revive my pet that fast -ranger-), and theifs they stay permently invisalbe it seems only appearing to attack you or right after they flag you (i find that funny they need to stealth to flag someone, kinda sad really),

You cant reselect a thief, as soon as you do they stealth again -.-’

mouse clicking will always be faster, and therefore better than tab targeting when available targets exceed 3-4. if i am interested in playing well i will click my targets, if i am feeling lazy i will tab through all those minions.

how do you constantly target a thief stealthing every 3 seconds or so?
