team comp advice
If you don’t get some cheese meta, you’ll probably lose. Always get some dd eles and shatter mes

I’m not so sure if you should take a shatter mes just take some dd eles or shoutbow wars as semi-tanks, some medi guards or cele engis as roamers and a thief
Ya, he is right. You can’t comprise you team of unorthodox builds and expect to “be competitive with higher skilled teams”. You will get steam rolled. If you are going to run a non meta build, honestly you can probably only do that with 1 player and be competitive.
Here is the main issue with playing a different build. You can be really good at it, but if your teammates have no idea how to play and coordinate with a build like that, you will do badly. This will take a little time for them to get used to your build and know what you need and when for help/ peels etc. This is why running even 2 odd builds get you in trouble.
I would grab meta classes and a zerker. As you are playing ranger, I would say maybe theif/mesmer + double ele + engi or sub one of the eles out for a shoutbow.

kitten I really have to start reading the op’s posts and not just the thread names
If you really don’t want to use cele builds your aoe condi removal won’t be that good maybe some guards could help with that medi guard is meta as far as I know and if you can somehow make it work you could even try out a old bunker guard

thanks for the feedback and explanation, sounds like this is the best route to take. much appreciated friend!
still open to other suggestions if y’all got some.
Maybe mix in a support guard like people used to in the past. They arent seen much atm, but still offer all those boons/tools to dominate team fights. I personally would like to see their comeback.
Guys, he specifically asked for a comp without two/three celestial builds. You can run a composition that’s a bit different and still be competitive. Saying otherwise is silly: one of the best EU team (55HP Monks) runs a comp with one cele engi, one thief, one shatter mesmer, one cleric guard and one cleric ele (or two cleric ele). In your case, since you play condi ranger, I’d say you need:
- 1 altruistic support bunker. Guardian or elementalist
- 2 damage dealers. One thief/mesmer team (I love those) or two medi guards, or possibly one thief and one medi guard.
- 1 semi-bunker. Here my pick would be one of the three cele builds depending on your needs.
thank you sorel, this is what im looking for!

watch some EU tournaments (jebro has the GO4 cups of his youtube), i would also say watch NA but we all know there is only one team there. plus EU actually run loads of weird team comps, and do well with them. it’s in EU we see teams winning with clerics staff eles, and two panic strike d/p theives- insane. EU is more creative and experimental builds and team wise. i forget who the team was but they ran a pair of condi necros, one with the vit amulet and the other with the toughness one. their utilities were choosen to compliment each other, with one having epistemic and the other with corrupt boon. they never split up and just destroyed anything they faced. building with the fact in mind that you are going to be fighting 2v2 a lot is a really good idea, as building for the big teamfights.
EU shows you that things other than NA cele work, but never forget that NA cele does work and the builds- especally d/d ele are seen often in EU.
