In my opinion, as the self-proclaimed worst thief EU, I’d say they’ve been brought in line with most other zerker specs, especially Mesmer…

You’re wrong, thief still hard counters mesmers hard, they can come in a team fight and down a mesmer in seconds. Consume plasma gives them 5 sec of god mode the mesmer can’t interrupt him and since the thief can stealth more than the Mesmer they can always get the opening. With the sigil of air and fire and mesmer being a light armor class, they can literally one shot the mesmer.

Well I find the thief to be in a pretty balanced spot atm but I agree about using STeal on mesmer being ridiculous lol. As if they needed such an overpowered spell against Mesmer anyway….

zerk thief is hard countered again by ranger. Because zerk thief gotta go DD to be any proper threat (sure SD got damage, but zerk has zero sustain).
DD vs LB and Sic’em – If thief can GET to the ranger un-noticed thief wins, any other scenario, byebye thief.

Since I don’t play heavy armored classes in pvp I find most of the time the thief is my hard counter. I do not mind there being a hard counter, how stuffed up would an environment be if someone removed the scissors from your RPS.,

Its funny how people complain about thieves when the spvp population is 40% engi , 40% ele and 20% who cares.

Most teams are starting to run a comp along the lines of 2 Elementalists, 1 Engineer, 1 Warrior, and 1 random. The random class is generally a Warrior, Engineer, Necromancer, or Thief. In terms or OPness ATM, I’d say Elementalist and Engineers are both bigger problems than Thieves.
Competitive Warrior, Ele, Mesmer, Ranger, Engineer, Thief

I know that, but that’s not the point. Ele is forced to play d/d, because s/d or s/f has no sustain and a thief will eat the ele alive if he plays anything else than d/d or staff bunker.

I’m not denying it, but it doesn’t change the fact that thief hard counters the S/F zerker build hard and every other glass cannon build.

thieves run zerker because it is all they can run, they can’t just go hybrid bunker with celestial/might stacking like eles/engis/wars or stack passive (sup nightmare runes necro)…. surely there is p/d but it is worthless and still dies fast

No we want classes to be viable with lots of specs, the problem is thief is forced to play zerker. I would love it if all classes were able to choose whatever amulet/build they want and be viable with it, sadly that’s not the case atm.

Thieves only hardcounter Mesmers. Thieves are, in fact, countered by Medguards and Rangers atm.
I don’t really think that thieves do not let other classes go Berserker. If I had to blame someone, I’d blame tanky DPS builds like Soldier Hambow and Celestial users.

Is Vee Wee the only one who doesn’t think very much of D/D Eles! They don’t do very much damage even with many stacks of might! Vee Wee thinks their only job is to be annoying pseudo bunkers and stack 25 might for anyone nearby! And their moves are really telegraphed and they’re the only class to have their moves telegraphed by sound! If you hear FEAR THE FIRES OF BULBASAUR, make sure to dodge the Burning Speed that’s going to come! Oh do you have a lot of burning! Well you can be sure Fire Grab is going to come next! Is a huge ball of lightning hurdling towards you! Easy dodge! Every time Vee Wee sees a D/D Elementalist it’s always, “Wahoo! They’re not S/F because those guys are the real scary ones!”

Don’t be lazy on your positioning. And don’t let your teammates tunnelvision and blow all their cooldowns. If your team can’t kill an S/D or D/P thief now, then the onus is on your team/the zerker spec; not the thief.

Well if we are just comparing zerker specs yes med guard is so strong. Though in the current meta they are fine from what I have seen so far.

The thief hard counters every zerker spec, it’s the truth. People are force into a tanky dps role because of the thief class. And I’m not ok with the thief hard countering the mesmer so hard. Consume plasma needs a huge nerf.

We know dps guards hard counters thief bro, but the thief hard counters all the zerkers except medi guard. The ele is forced to play tanky dps[celestial} because a thief will 1 shot the ele if he played S/D. The thief hard counters the Zerker ranger and the mesmer. You get my point, some skills like consume plasma shouldn’t exist. And I’m not asking for a huge nerf to the thief class. All saying is give all the zerker specs a fighting chance. That’s why everybody plays tanky dps.

You’re the clueless one, that’s why the game it’s plague by tanky dps specs. And the thief hard counters all zerkers except medi guard. We will never see a S/D zerker ele in high end tpvp. All I’m saying is that every zerker spec should have fighting chance. But the thief shuts down every zerker easily.

I did run gs/axe+mace warrior for a long time and get similar results( if not better) as thieves concerning damage, whether it was solo or team queue.
I totally agree with your topic, but it’s a bit more complicated in my opinion. Most zerker builds hardly deal with conditions spamming actually, and thieves are able to avoid these thanks to the lot of dodges, but also with stealths which will stop opponents from following you on all map.
I would more likely say that meta builds deal much easier with non-thief zerker builds than with thieves
