I’m not sure if I this thread belong in pvp or the thief forum, i’m sure Arenanet will move it to the right forum.

I was in Spvp today with my teammates, and we encountered a thief who couldn’t be targeted at all. We were able to target other classes except that 1 thief. The thief was able to wipe many of my teammates and their team was able to win few matches. We realized this thief was either using a mod or was a bot.

There was no way to report that thief because we couldn’t target/highlighted the name. None of my teammates plays a thief class so I would like to ask the community in researching that event that took place.

Is it possible for a thief to be un-targeted and remain un-targeted for a long time?

Is there a trait, skill etc,,, that gives a thief that ability?

Has anyone experienced the same?

I just want to know if this is an issue or not.

Was he invisible/stealthed? Or was his character visible, but just untargetable?

If its the latter, then its probably a bug or something.

I really don’t like to jump to hasty conclusions claiming its an exploit or mod/hack or something, but it does seem like something that needs to be brought to ANet’s attention.

The theif was visible and untargetable.
Afterward our teammates were discussing if that un-targetable thief was a thief clone or not. It was until we realized it was just that 1 thief who never stealthed.

The only weapons the thief was using was double pistol, that’s all and it hit hard damage.

Then it was not “working as intended.”

There is nothing available to the thief class that allows it to be visible yet untargetable.

I’d call that a bug

If accurate it was almost certainly a bug. Probably a flukey one that is very difficult to reproduce, because I’m sure if someone had figured it out then it would be seen all over the place.

Should you ever see it again whisper the guy in game. Even if you cant target you should be able to see the name.

It may or may not be related, but I had this happen once in WvW, except it was a guardian and all the mobs at the supply camp he was guarding that became untargetable. It was strange as i could move away and target distant mobs and players, but I could not select the guardian or any other mob inside the camp. I am a thief, he was holding the camp against me. Not sure if it was a strange skill interaction that cause it or what. After a few minutes i logged out and back in, ran to the camp, he was still there, and i could target him and the mobs.

a team of 5 ? thats never played a thief? kitten!

the only time a thief is hard to target for me is when they stealth and i lose target and there is a ridiculous amount of turrets / necro pets about and i’m trying to tab target.

Quite annoying as a zerker mesmer, really dont have time to single target a decent thief in the middle of a fight.

And losing target using right mouse button to turn is really starting to get old.
