warriors are not overpowered
So i was fighting this mesmer yesterday on my warrior alt with his nice condi + regen warrior build.
I stood on point jumped and danced while the mesmer was freecasting on me. Randomly used my longbow f1 once he got a few condis on me to get rid of it. Didnt dodge block or w/e. No need with 1100 hps and 3700 armor
And than i turned around did a pindown … combined with the burn from enormous longbow firefield he died in a matter of seconds. Pindown on my “bunkery” condi spec does only 10500 dmg and torment only does 8500. And since there are ways to counter this (just send 2-3 people to kill it) this isnt OP at all.
30 secs later the mesmer game back and the same happened! This is the chat that happened afterwards:

If there’s a more broken weapon skill in this game than Impale, I don’t want to know what it is. I mean really, on top of doing a lot of damage on a very short CD, they also made it so you can’t really get rid of it?

I copy pasted the right build… Really tempted to start streaming it so it gets fixed fast, since its absurdly broken.

A build like that would have to run without Fast Hands at the very least and all of your damage is basically tied to two skills on 15 and 25 seconds cool down.
You’d have a huge problem building adrenaline and you’d offer no support when assaulting a node unlike a guardian.

Fast hands is nice and a must for traditional dps focussed builds. But its not like you cant make it work with a 10 second weapon swap. As you stated yourself the important CDs are longer than that; 15 and 20 seconds (i run with burning arrows).
Swordautoattacks provide an 1135 dmg bleed (and 252 direct dmg). And since im able facetank quite some dmg/aoes i have a contstant stream of adrenaline. So in pretty much all cases ill be able to land 3 point combustive shots on CD. Those burns provide quite some added dps.
No support? You mean besides a 250-300 HPS aoe banner heal, the abbilitie to make other bunkers melt with your condis and cover entire points with massive firefields that do massive dmg? And ofc an endless stream of migth stacks due to the finishers in to your firefield.

Fast Hands is huge for adrenaline generation and there’s no way that you can get full adrenaline on CD with that build. That’s just wishful thinking, because you rely entirely on hitting and getting hit to produce adrenaline.
In a build without Burst Mastery or Fast Hands, you’ll be looking at 25-30 seconds on average to replenish 3 bars, so once you have applied your first Combustive Shot, you’ll be spamming bursts with 1 bar of adrenaline mostly, which means your condition removal capabilities and your adrenal health trait will be performing poorly.
Sword autoattacks are very powerful, however they also require you to stick to your target to build up bleed stacks before they fall off or get cleansed. It’s not as easy as it sounds.
The healing from banner is all the support you give and is negligeable when assaulting a node quickly. Guards nowadays move in to nodes to support their team mates with more than just healing (might stacks, area denial CC, heals, stability etc.). That’s something this warrior build can not.
It’s not a bad build, though calling it overpowered, because it can kill in 1v1s is false. You’re a meat shield that is best used to stall enemies on a node and becomes useless the second the node gets neuted. It has no decapping potential, so you are forced to roam to free nodes and set up shop there basically.

Tested it in duels and on practice NPCs.
Autoattacking while taking dmg at the same time means that i fill up my bar within 8-12 seconds if i have uptime. Unless you fight stealth classes or people that avoid you in other ways via los or w/e it never took 25/30 secs. I can stay in LB and autoattack a target and see my bar fill from 0 to 3 in 8 seconds flat if i take dmg at the same time.
On point vs guards etc youll have close to 100% uptime and there are plenty of AOEs flying around to make sure you gain enough adrenaline. And then there is zerker stance that fills up your bar aswell

Youre making it sound as if his build does no dmg. My point is that you dont give up a lot of your dmg for being that tanky. Youre basicly unkillable 1v1 while doing massive dmg in return.
No decapping potential? So you mean people will sit in my firefield while 1v1ing me on point? I havent met a single person who could do that….esp considering that far and close points typically have other other warriors, engis rangers etc on them. All of those are relatively easy kills for this build and none of those can sit in the firefield.

Seriously it’s a lot easier to learn how to counter that sort of build if you know what you’re dealing with. Though obviously your choice if you want to share it or not.

the feedback of everyone has been a very educational journey for me so far.
at first Locuz almost convinced me that warriors are overpowered and may need some shaving. then i went and tried to build something that he claimed. well it was kinda late over here back then, 12.30am so i gave up and went to bed.
come morning 7am woke up, saw more feedback. yay! went and read.
saw Slim explaining to Locuz that Locuz’s build would not contribute much.
then i read what Locuz said again, he said his build would contribute to the team.
i guess i need to try out Locuz’s build for myself if i can manage to build something like that.

That is a argument some people used to say to explain why warriors are OP. (i can understand why)
Before the recent nerfs to warrior it was comum to find many warriors in matches (FOTM Players). After balance patches those players normaly move to other classes that in their opinion are stronger. Since the last patch i find 3/4 mesmers 2/3 thiefs 2/3 necros in matches (those are the classes that i find the most) and 1/2 warriors (many matches without a single one.
Ofc that dont say the strenght of the class but there are a lot of players that use that argument to tell that warriors are OP.
Warriors are OP, period. There’s something severely messed up when a class/build so easy to play can completely shut down other characters. The combination of offense, CC and defense is simply over the top.
The nerfs last patch were a good start, but there’s a long way to go. It would be nice to play a game without 1 or 2 of every single team having someone mindlessly hammer-swinging his way to victory.

There are also a lot of what can only very loosely be described as ‘warriors’ defending an unbalanced status quo by burning perfectly innocent and stupidly unrelated straw men.
You’ve trolled this subforum long enough to know very well why your class is OP. Stop feigning an ignorance we all know is very real.
The problem is not with warriors, but the problem is:
1) Direct damage scaling with defense (especially with multi hit skills like Pistol Whip/Flurry/Unload).
2)Weakness
3)Condition damage’s poor scaling properties making tanky characters do incredible condition damage.
Warriors are not the only culprit. All characters are on the same boat. Minion and Condi necros can build tanky and dish out a lot of damage. Tanky condi Mesmers can build tanky and rely on confusion. Also, Spirit Rangers.

oh by the way, warriors do use healing signet, at least for me, today.
this morning around 11am (gmt +8:00) when i played my 4th solo arena game (details in another topic) my warrior managed to activate healing signet 2 times in the game.
well, it was that or death.
my warrior was running away because he was overloaded with conditions and the various condition removal methods are not available at that time.
so i pressed numpad 6 to activate it.
2 times that i activated healing signet, one time i survived as no one was chasing me, they must be still busy fighting on the mid point (keep) and i can’t remember the 2nd time though.
i recall someone said that it is better to do anything to survive than to let the enemy defeat you so i attempted to do that, stay alive.
so yeah, contrary to what a lot of people may say, the healing signet may be activated, but in my limited experience in solo arena battles, i think it is only useful when running away and not chased by many people. even if being chased by one enemy player with very strong ranged condition attacks it would be a lost cause. as the bleeding, poison, burning will quickly melt away 3k – 5k health.
Hehe you say there are not enough playing warrior that it would be OP and when someone asks for a good build you can smell the fear going around that people play even more of them to proof their success. This is just hilarious

It’s since July that I’m trying to nerf myself because I like the class but not how it ended…

:) I play a warrior and several other classes (ele is the least) and the game mode makes it much more easy to hit someone (you know the cycle that changes colors and where you can sit on to keep it). And forcing someone out and survive is often considered a win.
And you can do damage without a full berserker amulet.

Today warrior with sword stacked 15 confu on me, then swapped to longbow and stunned for 6sec with combu shot, he deciced to lol at me and used rush, savage leap and whirwind on hammer when i tried to run away. I was at 2k hp left and he switched to offhand axe to finish me off with whirling axe, he even bypassed downed state as i was insta killed. F.. warriors are op and needs a huge nerf, this game became unplayable cause of warriors. Now im going Q.Q a bit alone so cya peeps

Thieves used to be king, now they are on life support, thats the ANet way. Maybe rangers will become good with the next patch, maybe we will get nuke mesmers again, that was fun wasnt it.
All nonsense aside, is anyone else getting bored of the way balance is done in this game? Every couple of months, 1 or 2 classes end up being a showcase in easy mode, whilst 1 or 2 others are ruined to the point of uselessness (ele right now is basically a waste of time in pvp, nothing the class can do is impressive or useful). The rest trying to scramble for a build that will work and counter the new wave of whatever is sitting on the OP chair.
Its Aff Locks all over again, the idea of balance being everyone gets a turn at being powerful (which isnt true anyway, a few classes have never been king and a few more continue to have maybe 2 decent specs, the rest being broken or bugged).

No need for a war with 4 weapons..hammer/longbow are more than enough to achieve same result…fail troll is fail..

How many stuns do you have on warrior , how many times can a person dodge ?
If you blow all dodges on hammer , how easy will it be to avoid pin down ?

like this guy i fought in solo pvp i’m using a hammer and we all know that hammer is easy to dodge this guy is not dodging and i’m like wtf he eats all my hammer attack and mace attack then told me your class is OP. and for those people that QQ about hammer stun thank you because now hammer is nerf well their reason is 4 warriors in tpvp are OP but 4 minion master and 1 spirt rangers or 4 mesmer with illusions and clones is not that’s logic i don’t know why anet listen to those QQ in this forum maybe they are scared to lose players, but i agree LB is OP just a tip if you see a hammer warrior DODGE don’t go here in the forums and ask for nerf noobs.How many stuns do you have on warrior , how many times can a person dodge ?

Well…
If he is Hammer—-Mace/Shield ….
He has 3 stuns exactly. One knock down and one knock back. Wow so many.
Hammer stun (only has one) is on a 10 second cool down (if not traited) while the Mace stun (only has one) is on a 10 second cool down (if not traited) and the Shield stun (only has one) is on a 25 second cool down (if not traited).
If he has traited to the max then 7 seconds and 20 seconds respectively.
Knock down is on a 30 second cool down (if not traited) while the knock back is on a 20 second cool down (if not traited).
If traited 24 seconds and 16 seconds respectively.
So, if in a ideal situation for stuns he has two 7 second stuns, one 20 second stun, a 16 second knock back, and a 24 second knock down.
Most classes (aka Guardian, Mesmer, Engineer, and Elementalist) can dodge every 5 seconds if build and traited properly without even thinking about it. (Even Rangers and Thief have more dodges, at least one every 7 seconds).
Now… speaking of numbers, what is the range on the stuns and knock down/back?
Well….. Earthshaker 600 range, very obvious…
Shield Bash 300 range,
Skull Crack 130 range, if you are that close you deserve to be hit….
Staggering Blow 130 range, again… bad
Backbreaker 130 range… yet again you are bad if you let him stay this close.
They have one medium range stun that is highly obvious and dodge able. You get a dodge every 5 seconds more than likely; learn to dodge.
Also, bring a stun breaker and use evasion skill, it helps.
Dodge the hammer stun, then walk away from the others. Hammer from warrior works with combos mostly. You get bonus damage by hitting enemies that are already disabled. That means warriors get big damage when they chain their skills.
In general, the kernel of every chain is Earthshaker, Backbreaker and Staggering Blow.
To avoid Earthshaker you have to dodge. To avoid Backbreaker you can walk away. Staggering Blow alone isn’t much of a threat.
Or, at least, that’s what I do when I face hambows on a warrior.
I remember in WoW players running into enemies to interrupt their casting by making them lose line of sight. The same thing might work here, never tried myself, the idea came today. If not, you have to move a bit randomly to make stay on target harder.
