Frankly, I’ve only been pvping for a week and I’m sick of the one round tourny. I want that 8 team, 3 round tourny back or ANYTHING than just a rinky dink one round, no consequences one

They took a big step backwards using 1 rounded tournies, it was just a band aid solution to a horrible tourney mechanic. They didn’t think it through and got rid of 3 round tourny because there wasn’t enough players to queue. The problem was not with the tourny but the rewards/risk. A smart enough player would choose 1 rounded tournaments over the 3 round one because it simply offered better rewards for the time spent.

What they need to do is offer a 3 round tournament at a designated time/date and offer rewards like a big rank bonus or unique skins, 5 laurels, ect. And the price of entry should be something like glory. The tournament then should have a split between solo que and pre-mades with different rewards for the two.

Or instead of spliting solo que there should be a option to create your own team and have the ranking system put players on your team and have the optinon to actually talk to them/make plans(team speak ect) before the match begins and once your ready you submit your team. This will also work when you need to kick incompetent players.

I agree, if the rewards were worth it, three round tournies would be much more popular. Why did they take out gem rewards, that was bad kitten Honestly I wouldn’t even care as much if the single round tournies weren’t the same map for 3-4 days in a row. I hate hot join, so if I just tourny, I’m forced to play a map, I may or may not like for 4 days straight. What the hell is up with that?

Would make things a lot more interesting if the map rotation was completely random with single round tourney. People would need to think on the spot what strategy to run instead of running the same strategy everyday for 4 days.

As for gems returning…they can make rewards like that come back with a working tourny system. Paid tournament was just a really bad mechanic that scared away casual players and thus allowed for long queue times.

Actually the queue times on weekends was only around 6min. Goes to show you they really need to make these tournaments at a designated time / weekend event like …Wednesday….Saturday…Sunday 9pm-12am event.

Daily/weekly/monthly automated tourny infrastructure is needed.

When was this taken? and I mean, Yeah, I mean I love the one round tournies, if I want to play one or two rounds of tourny for a chest it’s great. But there was no question about if they prefer it over 3 round, if they want 3 round gone, or if they want it back etc, just because people like it doesn’t mean it should be the only one, you know what i mean?

3 round tournaments as main mode were just bad and wont come back, get over it…

you should look forward to custom arenas providing custom tournaments probably and weekly/monthly/yearly bigger tournaments hopefully some time in the future

Of course that metric is skewed. Basically that survey ask if people enjoy the 1 round tournament or the broken 3 round tournament they had without any fixes being put in.

If they fix drop queues, rewards and get the player-base back for queue times in 3 rounders a lot of people that chose their appreciation for the 1 round (myself included) over the 3 round would still enjoy to see a healthy 3 round in the future. It was a broken system in both modes but one was less time wasted with better rewards. No point in not wanting more features for pvp and to just dismiss an entire mode because it was broken at one time.

tldr: Bring it back only when they fix the underlying problems it had when introduced.

I started playing GW2 when there wasn’t any gem offers, and just paids and 3 round tournies.

And I’ve always done the 3 round tournies solo que, then eventually I got a group and we did paids and then a day or 2 later they got rid of paids, and you had option to do 2 round tourney for a better reward than a 3 round tourney which was just STUPID.

Anet forgot to adjust the rewards since 2 round tournies were still paids without ticket, so EVERYONE and there mother did them because the reward for it was too great compared to 3 round tourney, then they fix it so 3 round tourney offers a tad bit better reward if you win but since ANET got everyone loving the 2 rounds and the 3 rounds rewards just wasn’t good enough everybody did 2 team and nobody did 3 round.

And that’s how 3 team tourney is no longer available. Anet made the mistake of lifting the tickets and having 2 team offer crazy reward compared to 3 round which is harder to win.

I started at 3 round tourney because it seem’ed easieir than 2 team paids to win.

If people don’t like rank 1’s in tournament game, all ANET needs to do is make 2 tournies require tournament ticket.

In my eyes, anet is not making any progress to developing there tournaments, 1st they go gems then they take em away because anet didn’t like it, then they go QP then they take them away because anet didn’t like it, they make paids then they take them away because anet didn’t like it, they had 3 round tournament but they take them away because anet didn’t like it.

Now we are just stuck with 2 team while anet decides its next move.
Will you see return of gems? who knows

will you see return of 3 round tourney? who knows
Will you see return of tournament tickets? who knows
The professions in pvp isn’t more broken than the structure of pvp itself.

I’m sure it’ll come back, it’s just on temporary hiatus while they figure out how to change it.

Let’s not dev-bash more than necessary here, moving to 1-round tournaments with matchmaking was a necessary step and a huge improvement. Next on the list is separated solo and team queues.

nothing was wrong with 3 round tournaments except they were too long with too long queues and too long waiting times… and ofc hardly useable as a main rated mode, guess why…

PS: that survey was from players as a feedback for ANet, ANet has nothing to do with it… and as you can see in survey, everyone likes 1 rounds more, get over it…
