some of my frustrations in pvp are that there are still plenty of people who leave when it’s not going the way they want it to go. when they are losing for like 1 minute.
some builds didn’t get balanced. The great got better and the bad got worse.
Matchup? there is no matchup at any point of pvp they just select people and you should just try to play them. 1 year over and still a lot of work needs to be done to get a “ok” pvp in this game

Balance in a game that make you play a single class in every possible way (dps, condition, bunker, supporter, etc. in only one class at the same time) isn’t easy.
Yes, some skills make some classes to be “OP” but against some class build that “OP” skills or class don’t make a good work.
For example: a guardian bunker is the best class to hold a point against a dps enemy because the high number of skills that give block and protection. But isn’t the best bunker class against Condition enemy, because the guardian has low hp and depends on the healing, that is reduced by poison.
Another example: I’m a guardian berserker. I’m very good to hold base and fight 1vs1, but I’m bad in team fight like hold the mid, because I don’t give buffs or heal or combo fields to the team. Foe the mid play is better a support guardian, or a class that hit by AoE like Ele.
The Ele is a very good class. Try to use it in berserker whit staff, a build like 30/10/0/0/30 and whit the summoning skill of the frozen bow. Use lightning attunement skill 5 to stun the enemy in AoE and give combo field, then change in fire to hit whit a huge AoE of fire and a little AoE of lava, then summon the bow and hit whit 4, then change in water and heal your team. if you play in a safe spot you can do 3.5k dps, help the team whit heal, stun the enemy and give different combo fields. But if you pay it bad or whitout strategy or you fight in 1vs1… you die quickly and no more.

There’s a lot of spec and builds that give you the ability to fight in different situations and win against different kind of classes and builds.
That is a very hard situation to make a class/role balance.
In the other games there’s only one or two ways to play a class, or limitations in subclasses or other ways to reduce the number of possible builds. Then they need only to make some fix and the class is ok. There’s not that chance. You fix a OP thief class and make necro able to play in pvp. Then you fin that necros in party can make a teamwork that you can’t win against them because they play in combofields and combinations of different condition damage and builds. Then you make them a little less powerfull in damage, but if you don’t make them better in something else you’re again whit a unplayable class.
If you try to make dps classes lesser OP, reduce the speed of quickness to make warriors unable to oneshot the enemy in 2 sec. But the result is that a warrior is no more the best dps class in the game and no one play it. Then you make it more hard to kill, but now you’ve a unkillable warrior whit 12 sec of invulnerability to direct damage (shield skill, stance, stance at 20% hp and the new healing skill) and 8 sec of highly reduced condition duration.

That is a game very hard to balance.

Then, about the players that leave the game after 2 min… ANet can’t do anything. They can only make Dishonor to be applied more frequently, but no more.
If a player go afk, crush, log-out, or is a n00b… ANet can’t do anything about that.
