Necros are only meant to use conditions.

Just say it. Why lead your players on thinking they can use various builds? Why don’t you just tell them they are meant to use a single type of playstyle per profession?

Its just lies I tell you. All lies.

I used to really like mainhand dagger for necro, but sadly it’s no longer viable.

That applies to almost all professions currently. (as in a single viable playstyle)

This is because they tend to buff big and nerf big then never turn back on changes (ride the lightning). Each class tends to only have a few sets of good options at a time, especially when they are on the back swing of the balance hammer.

That’s more about the playerbase being really bad as the PvPers quit the game and it’s mostly PvE guys farming the backpack than GS reaper being good.

Well they did say it sort of, it looked like they were throwing shade at power necro players. It was during the livestream when they announced that they wanted to push necro towards boon corruption and then also announced crazy buffs to scepter and did nothing about axe.

Boon corruption doesnt do anything for power necros except raise crit chance in curses, which is a condition focused traitline. Bad design is so bad, but nothing we can do about it now as long as they keep thinking hitting 10k with axe and gs consistently in pvp is feasible.

I blame the youtube videos, they are like movies, fun to watch but not realistic. Unfortunately Anet is like the kid at a magic show that thinks he can pull a rabbit out of an empty hat

Boon corruption does nothing for power necromancer? I don’t think so.

What can it provide to power necromancer:

Increasing necromancers damage by removing protection
decreasing the enemy’s sustain by applying poison and removing regeneration
decreasing the damage taken by the enemy by removing fury, quickness and might and applying weakness
crippling the enemy’s ability to dodge by applying weakness and removing vigor
crippling the enemy’s ability to kite by removing swiftness and applying cripple

These are some examples. But I guess all that stuff just doesn’t count, right?

The first thing i tried after the buffs was a corruption power necro, i immediately realized that it does nothing but set up for your attacks. Unless it is automatic like spite gm trait (why is it even a gm) and curses gm trait (gm again?) or easily accessible like scepter auto, attempting boon corrupt just eats up slots with no added benefit.

If you dont agree, take a look at warrior. Warrior’s most dangerous skills are so fast and dont need a set up, time is very important in pvp, how quickly can you pressure and recover from pressure.

Have you seen a power build take well of corruption? who still takes corrupt boon over rise, plague or wurm or even spec armour. Why would you take path of corruption over master of corruption for shorter consume conditions cd while this condi meta is going on.

The worst thing about the boon corruption strategy is that you need quite a few of them in your build to make it effectve and they are littered all over the place across multiple traitlines, weapons and utilities, so for a power build it is essentially invest in it or don’t bother since you also need to worry about what skill you are going to use when you get focused.

Every Necromancer is and should be about conditions, because that’s theme of the profession. Not every build, however, focuses on damaging ones (DoTs).

which is perfectly fine, except that there is almost no synergy between conditions and power. There is also no benefit in stacking non damaging conditions on power builds.

If they really wanted all of necro to be themed around conditions, they could have had traits that change what the conditions do. Like weakness actively siphoning endurance or blindness lasting for multiple attacks. Things that help both power and condi.
