correct me if im wrong, if someone reach legendary. and dont wanna drop back down to diamond he can just stop playing. shrinking the player base even more and longer Q times. same can be apply to other division. once 1 person reach desire division, maybe having enough ticket for the legendary wing. will also stop playing. im sure there is a better way of addressing bad players climbing through divisions.

thats how leaderboard used to work. people dont like it because they want ladder/division system. not that we do. they calling for leaderboard style again?

The Leaderboard had a few flaws, but instead of fixing the flaws anet made something new with even more flaws.

The whole thing is a mess tbh. One side you have the hardcore pvpers(or the ones who think they are better than they really are) wanting ranked to be for the pro’s only and anyone else should not play ranked. These are the people who want people to drop divisions. The problem is they don’t seem to realize that climbing such a league would be incredibly hard for everyone. I think such a system would burn out the and average PvP player very quickly. The current set up is made in such a way that by ruby, only the better players/teams will progress.

Actually, there isnt. As long as divisions can be grinded, bad players will be able to reach it and will get carried on by good players, until there’s too many bad players and they drop down to last lock.

I can carry a lot of matches I get, but there’s some rubies that die so fast and do such huge mistakes in rotation, there’s simply no way to carry them.
And tbh, I dont want to carry them. They dont belong, they should drop. Period. If you let yourself get the beast stolen FOUR TIMES in one match… and you die INSTANTLY to a mesmer condi bomb…. then you dont belong into ruby. You belong into amber.

But of course, those players grinded their way into ruby and now they are there to stay. Getting wins only when good players are in their mmr range to carry them.

Absolutely right. Best chance to fix a busted system is to go back to what was before. And just a few Llamas for the very top – no other rewards needed.

There are 2 options:

1. remove MMR as a factor in Matchmaking and base it on PIPs only, it’s grind system when MM takes into account pips.

2. going back to Leader boards, with some improvements if people want something which they can name. Something like 1000-1100 Amber rating. 1100-1200 Emerald rating. Top 1000 Legendary or w/e.

We have mix of both. That’s why the system we currently have is bad. I m for Leader boards thou.
