why solo arena was removed ?
Because Solo Queue was too popular. So popular that everyone wanted to play solo queue instead of team queue.
The success of solo queue is the reason it was removed.
^ he’s basically right and my take on why they won’t bring it back:
if anet splits queue, so # of people for teams to face drops off
?teams have to wait longer to play
?teams stop playing as teams because they so bored
^ thats the fear, the reality:
anet merged queue, so # of people for teams to face jumps up
?teams have shorter to wait to play
?teams roll over soloq’rs (or at least is perceived as such)
?soloq’rs leave spvp/leave queuing/leave gw2
?total pop falls
?queue times begin to rise again
?back where we started, except the overall pop is down
so wat do they do? the moment they split it back up, queue times for teams def jumps up as all those soloq’rs go back to soloq’ing.
wat anet isn’t considering is that when people are having fun, they will continue to play and can try to bring their friends over/spread the word of fun/grow more.
the current strat is to force people to play X way, try to entice w/ $$$ in tourneys to get the pop up, all the while neglecting the #1 important aspect of gaming… having fun
Queue times for solo queue were pretty quick like 30sec-2mins compared to team queue where it was 10+mins.
Anet made us choose between unranked arena and solo queue.
Because we all wanted a more relaxing and experiment-free queue, they took out the other queue we loved already. Only ranked queue was left untouched because Esports. Ironically, ranked has been a disaster without solo queue. And it’s no surprise to anyone. The community has warned them of that for years.
So, instead of accepting what most players enjoy/want and build around it, they removed it completely and try to enforce a certain way that the majority of ppl don’t like … gg
There was no need to have a solo q when there were pretty much no teams in the team q and the solo players were queuing the team q anyways just to avoid Skyhammer.
Solo Q is not the answer. A proper rating system is.

Have you seen some ppl that ragequit/afk in the first 2min , if the enemy team is 50 points ahead in Unranked ?
Now if i tell you in the past that those ppl stay rather than staying afk at the base … they where spouting things :

Edit: Atm if you loose from a premade you feel like cheated and you curse the Company and go in the forums
But in Ranked Solo , you attacked the ‘’lowest guy’’ and you try to ’’Shout’’ so the enemy team can hear you too …

Re-implementing solo queue would be simple. Much like how there are checkboxes for stronghold and conquest, there would be checkboxes for solo and team.
Traditional solo queuers who want to continue having the same exact arena experience as now will check both boxes. Players who want an actual solo queue will only check the solo queue box, and teams who want to only play other teams will check the team box (or if they want to continue farming pugs, check both boxes).
Everyone gets to have, and eat, their cake.
