will stunbreak not working with blowouts/knockbacks ever get fixed?
From what I have noticed, it does work on these abilities somewhat, but you must wait until you are on the ground and no longer moving the direction you got knocked, using the stun break at this point will instantly get you up. If you are still moving and use your stunbreak it gets wasted every time.
Think it may be because you can’t use skills when jumping.

Stunbreak is for.. uh, stuns and stuns only.
If your profession lacks guaranteed stability cough engineer cough, that’s a balance problem.

Guardian has as many knockbacks (and honestly more useful because many of them are AoE), and has more stability. Argument: void.

As an Engineer I actually agree with Milo’s stance. If you really want stability as an Engi you can use elixir x and cancel it after using it. Guardian KBs are on a much longer cd than the Engineer KBs as well.

I don’t want to derail this into a thread about engineers. I don’t even care one way or the other. I was somewhat amused you offered a clearly unintended and bugged mechanic (canceling Elixir X) as a solution.
It isn’t a bugged mechanic. Every elite transform in the game provides a stability buff in addition to the transform. It doesn’t say stability 20seconds or until you exit the form, it simply says stability.

It’s called a gimmick. You are enabling and disabling a transformation, an Elite Skill mind you, only for a boon. The primary benefit of the skill is the transformation, but people are finding more value from the boon than the transformation. A gimmick.
Something is a gimmick when it’s observably silly in how it works. Logically you should only have boons given from a transformation while transformed.
We don’t know if this is intended or not because ArenaNet hasn’t acknowledged it, and there are so many other bugged traits and skills in this game it’s not possible to rule it as intended.

Necromancer -> Plague Form -> Exit
Loses all stability gained from plague form. This is not once of the 100+ necro bugs, it was changed to behave like this.
Boons are granted for an amount of time. It’s not a gimmick to cancel out of your Elite if you want.
This also works with going into Death Shroud as a Necro if you have it traited to give stability.

Back on topic of stun breaks not working whilst getting knockbacked or blown up. I find that on my ele I can use cleansing fire to stand straight up after a knockback. When downing gardians I try to use it the moment they use their downed skill, thus not moving but still having my flag interrupted. I like to think that I have fast reflexes but that is a horrible lie and I couldn’t tell you if the stun break works whilst in the air. I know that it works the moment you are knockback (the moment right after the skill hits) and I know that it works when you are face down in the dirt.
Stability is not a stun break unless the skill also says breaks stuns.

You must wait until you land from a blow back or it has no effect. I think it is inline with an earlier poster about using skills in the air.
I think about it like this, when you break a stun, you had to suffer the stun first.
So in order to break out of a launch or blowback, you have to suffer it first.
