I have lost a LOT of e-mail rewards because I only have space for 10 e-mails. I know, they are only a few copper or silver, but still Sometimes, this precious space is taken up by those ever beloved gold sellers. Meanwhile, because I don’t check my e-mail after every quest/event, I have lost MANY rewards. Why is there this limit? Forget about saving that e-mail telling of a new dungeon to do later. Or saving ANY e-mail for that matter.

I am in a zone. I am doing the quests/events, usually in an almost chain-like fashion. I don’t “think” about checking my e-mail. I eventually look up and I have 15-20 emails waiting for me. I click to open the mail system and low and behold, I have 10 listed. No “next page” choice. Maybe there is, and I am missing it?

I apologize if this has already been brought up, or I am off my rocker

Hi AIBQuirky,

thanks for your concerns. This has been already suggested by a number of players and I will certainly forward it to the team.

Purchase with gems… -sigh- I have better things to spend gold on. Not everyone is good at ‘farming’ gold.

The limit is 10 mails from other players. The messages from the game (renown rewards, dungeons, explorers society etc) do not count towards those messages.

The messages from gold sellers are very annoying but they do not make you lose any rewards from the game completion you are doing and you can keep as many dungeon messages as you like as far as I can see.

I thought mails “queue” if you’re over the 10 limit? When I spam junk to my gf (while TP was down) and she bounces it back I don’t lose any mails, I just get more pop-up as I delete old ones.

- NPC mail doesn’t count against the 10 limits
- messages past 10 will wait until you -do- have room.

Let’s not stop there, please! What is the point of even having a mail system that is next to useless to begin with? I would like to see the following:

1) A sent folder, so I can know right away if I mailed an item or info to another player.
2) Uhm….hello? Why on Earth can’t I copy text from an mail I have received?

How do you not check your mail after every quest? The mail icon flashes brightly upon your receiving a letter, and it happens at the exact same moment relative to quest completion every quest. Just… how?

It is easy to not check your mail immediately, for example: another DE starts right away and you run to that, a friend ask you to help them now, a wagro sneak attack, the game decides that now is the optimal time to crash or kick you to the launcher, etc.

While the limit for player mail should be increased, it is a valid point that the OP is completely wrong. You get NPC mail no matter what and it doesn’t count against your limit.

You didn’t lose anything, even player mail just queues up until you delete some mails.

Ten times in a row? And you completely forget to check your mail (which is still glowing) each time until you’ve completely finished another quest, at which point yet another timely distraction occurs? The odds are staggeringly low.

I’m pretty sure there’s a limit so people don’t use the mail as storage. However, I think this is easily fixed by limiting the amount of mails you can store with loot. The e-mails with money or nothing at all should be unlimited.

I think the more pertinent question concerns how the system allows you to delete mails with rewards attached. Those are unrecoverable if they’re removed, so why should they be able to be deleted at all?

To be honest, I don’t really see why these cash rewards from things like heart mails aren’t just automatically claimed since they won’t take any inventory room (unless there’s an inventory gold cap), and it’s sometimes easy to forget about them if there’s a lot going on elsewhere.

The NPC mail seems to auto-delete when enough of them end up coming in (not sure of the exact number). So I’m wondering if it might auto-delete the heart mail rewards as well?

Thank you all for your replies. I apologize for not finding the subject when I searched for it

I guess I am missing something. As I delete my e-mails, no new ones immediately reappear. When I close it, I do not immediately check again to see if I have more mail. I just cleared it out. Why would there would be?

As far as NOT checking after every event, I have had times where I have been chain eventing. It happens sometimes. I also don’t spend my shiny, glowy skill point indicator all the time, either. Does anyone else do this? I admit that I do not conscientiously watch with baited breath my upper left hand screen. Maybe I should?

In my travels, I clear a heart quest and open my map to see where to go next when I am doing my 100% map completion mode, especially lower level zones. Everyone plays games differently. No need to point out my own personal “stupidity.” I already know about it

I AM doing better at keeping an eye on it, now.

As far as I know the mails from completed renown hearts do not count against the 10 mails limit (this is only for mails from other players). So why would you ever lose money due to doing more hearts than 10 in a row? Though I have to say I always collect my money immediately, so I can not say for sure.

I totally agree with your point : 10 mails is too small.

However, I’m not sure how you “lost” rewards. Hearts mail does not count in the 10 limit, and even if you’re spammed by gold sellers, mails just queue and you’ll receive them after deleting the spam. At first I feared I lost items like you, but I emptied my mail box and a bunch of “waiting” mails arrived.

I’m in the same situation as AlBQuirky -I seem to have a “lost” a whole heap of NPC emails, with associated cash rewards. I’d like to a get an answer from Arenanet – does the game ever “auto-delete” old emails? And if so, there really should be a warning.

According to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mail the game should never allow you to delete emails with gold or items attached.

I have never got an “email full” message either (apparently its should tell you)

I’ve emailed support – still waiting on their answer.

NPC Mail Facts

  • There is no time limit.
  • NPC mail has no amount limit.
  • It will only be deleted by you, or someone on your account.
  • NPC Mail is almost always per character.
  • NPC Mail includes, renown hearts, Destiny’s Edge Mail from your contact, Dungeon reminders, and anything else a non-player character in game will send you.

Player Mails

  • You have a limit of 10.
  • They queue. When it fills, you take items/delete mail, and the next appears.
  • This mail is account wide.

System Mail

  • Is included in your limit of 10.
  • These include messages/items from BLTC, and promotional items such as the deluxe edition items.
  • BLTC messages delete automatically upon collecting your items.
  • This mail is account wide.

General Mail

  • Mail can not be deleted until items are accepted.

I personally have every single dungeon reminder mail, and mail from Zojja I have ever received. My first was received almost 2 months ago. Hence no time limit. I have over 15 messages from dungeons and Zojja combined. My mail limit is still listed as 0/10. I have purchased items from the Gems store, and they have been delivered. I pick them up, and the mail is automatically deleted. I have had friends send me mail. I find it particularly useful if I need to give an alt something but am not near a bank. I send the item to my friend, who then returns it. I can then leave it there until I log in to the respective character, at which point I can retrieve it.
