So…today I suddenly noticed that ALL of my Ectos went missing. I panicked. I was flabberghasted…what the heck went wrong, all that cash down the drain over a stupid bug.

So I asked in map chat “Anyone got Ectos missing?”

Reply: New bank tab

I suddenly jumped for joy. I had forgotten I had read that change was in the patch notes and was pleasantly surprised to find them sitting there waiting for me. Along with slots for just about every other item one could possibly collect in the game from crafting. I had hit Deposit Collectables at some point and hadn’t realized that’s where they’d gone to.

THANK YOU ANET for these changes. This clears up SO much inventory and regular bank space. This is awesome and I love it.

Now then…how about we talk about some collections tab storage space for Dungeon Tokens…now THAT would make me jump for joy…again…twice…and squeel with happiness…

Make it so!

Thank you again!

You can right click dungeon tokens and the option to deposit collectibles is there, but greyed out. I am not sure if its always been there or not. Never really right clicked them before.

But if thats new, maybe a token tab is on the way soon.

Unless the maximum for tokens when deposited is increased, there won’t be that much point in depositing 250 tokens when it costs more than that to buy a piece of armor or weapon, let alone an entire set.

I am hoping the fact that they haven’t added a section for dungeon tokens is due to the current stack limitation of 250. And that they need new tech implemented so we can store maybe 1000 or something like that.

And the “Deposit collection” option wasn’t available prior to the wintersday patch.

It would be a nice quality of life thing to have mat storage be able to hold 999 of any given thing instead of 250. A lot of the higher end stuff in the game takes 250 or more of multiple mats, so being able to have more than that in the locker to check at a glance would be convenient.

Not really a huge deal. But would be handy.

I have to agree, in the darkest hour of the engineer quest for equality, the storage was actually a nice touch.

This is what happens when you play too many JRPGs.

The reason it’s 250 is a basic computing thing. most variables are stored in Hexadecimal and most also only use up two bits. Well in Hex the maximum number you can express with only two ‘digits’ is FF or 255, hence the 250 stack limit because your average person would look at a stack of 255 and go “what the jesus bloody kitten is this kitten?”.

In order for them to change the stack size they have to increase the number of bits allotted to each item in regards to quantity, not as easy of a thing as it sounds as it’s a base code change. And just so you know, FFF would be expressed as 4095 in base 10 (the everyday number system we use).

For dungeon tokens and stuff like that which is used as currency(captain commendation tokens would count here too) I hope that they are going to include them in inventory like gems and coins without taking up any slots.

that’s provided they are using hexa to store these variables. but I would have thought that it would just be a simple int (with advanced programming languages these days, why make it complicated and define it as base16 type variable?).

In any case, if it was xFF, then changing it to xFFF and limiting it to 999 would be a nice addition already.

I don’t really get why dungeon armor and token rewards are scaled so high in the first place? Is it just so we would use up more space in our bags?

Make it so we get like 10 tokens per run + 1 per wonderous bag and make dungeon armors around 50-70 tokens.

The reason it’s 250 is a basic computing thing. most variables are stored in Hexadecimal and most also only use up two bits.

The other reason is that bank slots and bag slots are expanded via the use of gems.

So the less inventory you have the more likely they’ll make some money via the the gem store (unless you buy gems with in game gold).

I don’t begrudge them making money from their game though. Just explaining that it might not be all related to 0xFF (aka 255).
