Balthazar is the ONLY one that glitches constantly, why would you leave shards on him instead of moving them some where else or placing them on all vendors?

Considering that it’s ultra rare AT BEST to get the vendor open, even when we CAN get enough people there AND the event chains aren’t bugged, it would be fantastic if we had more than 1 vendor to purchase obsidian shards from. I cannot agree with this suggestion enough.

I cannot agree more on this , i’m sitting in a kittenload of karma and i can’t get the shards because that thing is never open .

They probably did it as a nod to GW1, where the Fissure of Woe (Balthazar’s Realm) was the only place one could obtain Obsidian Shards.

That said, that was then and this is now. Having Shards purchasable at all of the Temples would make a lot more sense and provide greater convenience for players.

The shards are something that were in the Fissure of Woe. Balthazar was the access to FoW. Underworld was Grenth. (Hey can we add them to 2 that’d be awesome!) The Underworld had drops of Globs of Ectoplasm. Balthazar if you follow the lore should be the only one with the Shards. HOWEVER you can get them in the Fractal of the Mist Dungeon for 15 Relics.

Yeah, but Globs of Ectoplasm can be salvaged from any old high end armor now, which kinda negates the idea that they’re unique to one particular location. If it could happen to Ectos, why not Obsidian?

If you don’t think you can get the shards from the temple of Balthazar, ANET has given you a second option:
– Go to Lion’s Arch
– Take the portal into Fractals of the Mist
– Buy the shards fromBUY-4373 for 15 Fractal Relic’s each.

If that’s too much grind for you, tough luck. Legendary weapons are cosmetic only.

The problem with buying them from the fractal vendor is that we already have enough karma to do the completion – the primary issue is you can’t ever open the temple because it’s almost always bugged. add it to a second temple or fix the quest lines that let you open it. It’s ridiculous the way it is right now.

This clearly boils down to Balth needing to be fixed, not fixing it imo is silly.

Right, add new content, leave old kitten broken & let everyone sit with those millions of karma. Problem is their seems to be more focus on ADDING than FIXING. Add a dungeon and a new island, while a lot of events get bugged & even dungeons have a bug here and there or can use the tweaking.

Yeah when you put it like that, makes complete sense farming those fractals…. Except the dungeon is ALSO broken when you have 1 player leaving or d/cing.

Would be nice to see a detailed list of what they know & are working on to fix…

Some people can open it. So if you’re going to keep complaining about it being bugged, please provide detail about how the bug makes it impossible. Not too hard, impossible.

Legendary weapons were never meant to be easy. If you’re finding it too hard to get a group to open Balthazar, at least you do have a second option.

If pre-events just keep hanging (like the caravan not moving one inch), the event is not hard, just bugged and thus impossible.

I admit, I’ve been to the Temple of Balthazar when it worked, and I have been able to purchase shards. The problem is that the prerequisite event chains often have the members halt for no reason and there is no way to reset the event chain to start over. In particular on our server (Dragonbrand) right now the southern contingent is stuck doing nothing and there’s absolutely nothing you can do to get them to start moving again. It seems like one of the prereq events is always broken in one fashion or another.

Don’t want to be out of line but I have over 1 million Karma and it might as well be junk the Karma vendor that has Obsidian Shard is in Cathedral of Glorious Victory
that is contested 24-7 for a very long time why can’t you set Moto in Rata Sum to be open again or some other vendor. I have 8 Toons and 3 have the world maps completed trying to get Obsidian Shard to make legendary weapon, right now everyone is forced to use other currency to get it that is not fair. I know you want to keep Straits of Devastation a tough area but every one is busy doing other events that leaves not many people to storm the contested area.
Hope you can put some thought into this.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to suggest this to us. We really appreciate your thoughts and the idea of moving the Karma Vendor to a non contested area is very good

You could always:

1) Load up on karma boosts
2) Go to any temple
3) Buy Lost Orrian Jewelry Boxes
4) Open Lost Orrian Jewelry Boxes and get various things, including obsidian shards and more karma
5) Drink karma
6) Repeat

It’ll take probably five times as much karma, depending on your boosts, but hey, you get gold and lodestones too, and you don’t have to guest anywhere most of the time.
