Bring back Underworld and Fissure of Woe!
What you suggest sounds pretty awesome. I would love for an open zone(s) that are hardcore dungeon/raid in difficulty.

Underworld and FoW were GW1 end game. There was a few more end game zones depending on what campaigns you had, but these 2 were the core end game.
Typically you farmed them for the top armor sets. To this day in GW1 Obsidian armor, the first high end armor set created, was still the most material intensive set to get.
GW2 is going to need something like this.
I want Realm of Torment back.=D

Realm of Torment wouldn’t really exist anymore because it has become Kormir’s realm IIRC.

Now it’s the realm of take credit for everything I did.
I’d LOVE to have them back, especially FoW. Some of my earliest “good” GW1 memories came from exploring down there.
I need a good guild. Q_Q
I would actually really love some a way to set up some kind of Nostalgia series of dungeons/raids. like bringing back the Guild Wars 1 endgame dungeons as they were in Guild Wars 1 (as-in the quest lines and objectives you had to complete), just rebalanced and tweaked a little to make them “compatible” with the changes in Guild Wars 2. You could even add rewards related to these dungeons, such as nostalgic armor and weapons from Guild Wars 1. I know it all might seem like rehashing, but I love nostalgia and content revisiting. I would definitely re-play these places for hours on end even if the rewards long since ran dry, just for how huge and complex they were.
well I was looking though really old posts and seen this witch was on like page 518 or something probably be brought to first page after this post but. This statement/Question has me wondering lore wise by the time guild wars 2 came about were exactly are these places was they destroyed?
Underworld and FoW were realms of the gods in GW1. They weren’t destroyed, however the only two methods of reaching these realms are inaccessible to players. One is located on the off-limits continent of Elona (unless Palawa Joko has destroyed it), and the other was a small shrine in Kryta, which I can only assume has been destroyed some time in the last 250 years.
When I just started play GW2 I thought they allready implemented the Underworld,…
My vote goes to bringing it back !
ahh yes good old Palawa Joko..he is undead so he should still be there O.o
I don’t want to turn this into a lore thread, however it has been stated that the reason Elona is currently off-limits is because Palawa Joko rose again, conquered the lands outside of the Desolation, and currently reigns over Elona as a king. So yes, he is very much alive.
I would love for us to have to “unlock” the ruins of the old Chantry of Secrets through some event in Elona that would give us access to the UW and FoW if they were ever implemented again. (see? see? I still managed to stay on topic!)

Sorry, I have to say that I LOL at this…

Those entrances was in the Temple of Ages (in Kryta there are another entrances in Elona and Cantha), . Now it´s just submerged ruins in the Godslost Swamp, the same place of those portals to underground that spawns Aatxe, Shades and the Shadow Behemot. Another entrance to UW was in the Grenth Statue in Lornar´s Pass that stills exists (but it´s not functional, just a skill chalenge).

Imagine bringing back Underworld and Fissure of Woe from Guild Wars 1, but not as dungeons but as true zones. Elite hardcore zones made for exploration and high level farming. Where most mobs are veteran level status. Where dynamic events reveal chests like in GW1 for the rarest crafting materials in the game.
Ideally it would be nice to see all realms of the 6 gods, but these 2 zones have a lot of history and nostalgia behind them.
In other words a zone like Mad King’s Labyrinth? Of course harder and more complex, but it should be doable. Of course having it as a “public” zone without restrictions would cause a lot of issues, lag most notably, but if they limited the amount of players and create overflows for it just like what happened in Mad King’s Labyrinth it could work as a mix between open world and dungeon
I think the Temple of Ages in Kryta was destroyed for the purpose of not having to worry about designing them in the initial release of GW2, or even before expansions to Cantha and Elona.
Maybe the statues of the Gods are still in one piece in Cantha and Elona? But the Godslost Swamp in Queensdale has them underwater, destroyed and inactive. The scrolls that teleported you there are not sold anymore either. For the statues to grant you passage into those realms they needed favor, which is granted by maximizing titles.
They will probably implement UW and FoW when Cantha and/or Elona are accessible. Maybe not even then because the six human Gods have been silence for a while now. Those zones dropped Globs of Ectoplasm and Obsidian shards back in GW1 too, so if ArenaNet ever does pull a, “Oh look the Durmand Priory has found lost scrolls! Come buy some to explore these new dungeons/zones!” they’ll have to be expensive as hell and be able to kick you out of UW and FoW if you die, since ectos do drop from there.
B-BUT WHAT IF ECTOS NO LONGER DROP IN UW AND FOW?
I’d like to think ArenaNet still wants to be accurate with their historical bestiary and what they drop when they die :c sure Aatxes in Godslost Swamp don’t drop ectos but neither did the Dryders at the Realm of Torment, but the Dryders at the Spawning Pools in UW did.
