Before anyone here has a hissy fit and trolls me for even thinking about it,hear me out -.-

like think about how much more diverse the game would be. and maybe they wouldn’t nerf as much because of the classes branching?

what if ur guardian is more of a support healer instead of a tank? then they could choose between like cleric and on the opposite end of the spectrum could be Sentinel for the more tanky ppl.

or maybe you have an ele and you want to specialize more into a particular school than another to get higher tier magics?

what about a thief? you could be an elusive assassin or a blade-dancing rogue.

Ik it would make this a little more difficult for the developers to impliment but i thing the gw2 team could put a unique spin on it so that their class-branching system drew even more players in and it would give us a lot more bang for our buck.

any opinions that arent entirely hostile and directly trollish would be awesome

Because it’s a ridiculous notion.

You can already change your character’s “role” freely, and dynamically instead of relying on a rigid pre-set system, by switching gear, traits and skills.

If you mean redesigning every class entirely, no, it’s a terrible idea and it’s never going to happen anyways due to the ridiculous amount of work it would require (for absolutely no reason).

So let me get this straight.

You want them to implement actual skill changes to allow for specialization instead of just the traits we already have? And changes to the armor you can wear and/or the weapons you use?

Because without those, it really is just the traits. Guardians can already choose a weapon and spec that centers on team support. They can also spec for tankage. As for Thieves? Well, Shadow Arts gives good reason to stay in stealth and the rogue part? Well hello, I see a shortbow. Evasion-spec Thieves are rare, but they exist.

And honestly, I don’t like the idea of changing skills and weapons through some kind of system. That just makes the whole game more complicated than it needs to be. And the game is never going to have fullblown healers and tanks, so give up on that notion too.

GW2 already allows you to specialize into different roles. I honestly have to think this post is a troll. I dont even know what you are asking. This stuff is already in the game.

You guys don’t have to be a kitten to him. This idea wouldn’t be good because it only limits what you can do. If they did this and added more weapon sets and skills, I could see it working but this can already be achieved on a smaller scale by changing traits and armor.

As cool as advanced classes can be, I don’t think they really fit Gw2’s aim, to have all classes unique but versatile. It’d also probably have poor effects on PvP

Im going to give OP the benefit of the doubt and assume hes either new to games in general, or hes young (13, 14?) and doesnt quite understand he just cant simply suggest a game thats almost a year out of release that has had YEARS of testing and development to just throw away their current class system and make a different one.
