I love the options for stat customization available in PvE, however, some things need to change.

We need the ability to change the prefix (the inscription). We had this ability in GW1, why we dont have it in GW2 I dont know. It takes up inventory space having to recollect a piece of gear.

What I suggest is making level 80 exotic gear work like a system of unlocks once you get your first exotic piece. There are three things you can change, for a small fee of a few silvers to reset.

The armor skin
The prefix
The rune

You have to unlock each piece of gear seperatly, for instance, if I put a rune of the thief and a rune of the mesmer on my chest piece, I can now change between those two runes on my chest piece for a reset fee, however I dont have those runes unlocked for my legs. This would be specific to the gear piece (each armor skin)

Same for the armor skin, and the prefix

This wouldnt adversly affect rune prices, your still required to buy it for each skin you unlock, if anything you would rise the rune price for completionists like myself who would want to unlock all runes/prefixes for all skins.

This would also add another needed gold sink to the game

This would also greatly save on inventory space for everyone

This is needed change for classes (such as warrior) who run different builds in different situations, for example

If I play greatsword, I run full berserker
If I play in dungeons, I run hammer, using knights to be tanky
If I play dps in dungeons, I run sword bleeds, needing a mix of carrion and rampager

Along with this change, the ability to save gear setups (much like in GW1) should come with it. Anytime you regear, you pay a reset fee.

Another greatly needed change is the dungeon tokens need to be made into an account currency

edit for clarification

To be a little more specific, this does nothing to reduce the grind in the game, if I need a berserker Arah chest piece and a rampager Arah chest piece, I still have to collect two of them, but I now have the ability to change between the two without using up inventory space or a fine transmutation stone.

Its basically a change to the trasmutation system

Forgot to add, need the ability to save armor combinations, was pretty much the whole point of the thread, to quickly and easily save between different armor builds

If you find yourself needing to swap out complete sets of armor between situations, you’re doing something wrong.

But if you really insist on it, at least make it cost some of the original materials, such as the respective insignia plus a coin fee. And add a decent cooldown to it to avoid it being abused.

I can see doing it for immersion… Warm clothes for the Shiverpeaks, cooler clothes in the southern Maguuma sections…

So when I play a greatsword build, I wear full berserker gear, because I want to be glassy and hit hard and kill things in one or two hits.

When I run dungeons I play hammer, and wear full knights to be tankier and not die in one hit.

When I run dungeons I sometimes play sword conditions if I dont need to run hammer, in this case I run a mix of Rampagers and Carrions.

My jewels also get switched out a lot depending on my build.

I do not see what I am doing wrong, there is no one build fits every situation in this game.

Anet encourages changing your setup to match the situation, I have to go to work soon or I would look up the dev post for that. If that were not the case the UI would not support a simple mouse click to change your utility skills in between fights.

Actually it makes perfect sense. Something like this would enhance the whole “build” part of the game.

In fact, more attribute points are applied through armor than are applied through traits. We can switch our traits pretty easily, but armor not so much.

I would be excited to see something like this added.
