Does Anet listen to his Community? No?

I like GW2 and I personally think a-net does an awesome job. Do they listen? Yes. Do they forgo their priorities in order to cater to every whim of the player base who always label everything as a ‘quick and easy fix’ even though even the tiny portion of player base with programing background still doesn’t know how the game is actually coded? No. (Not that you are one of them but there are many posters who are) As long as I see them continue to make improvements, I won’t assume I know how easy their improvements are.
This was all I needed to see to know ANet listens
Improvements
Most items in the Gem Store are now available to be purchased as a gift. Gifting allows players to purchase an item with gems but have it delivered to one of their friends. Simply select the orange gift box icon next to the price of the gift item and follow the on-screen instructions.
This was one of the many things that has been repeatedly asked for on this very forum and it’s in. They are listening, they are reading. Simple fact is that a lot of what people are asking for are bad and never going to be dealt with. Other things take time to work out and aren’t going to happen the next day.

Just because they don’t reply to or implement all suggestions, doesn’t mean they don’t listen.
However, what a lot of people may think is a ‘good idea’ may not necessarily fit in with their plans for the game. For example, Gear Inspect. There are people who think this is a good idea, but it doesn’t fit in to ANet’s idea of PvE being co-operative.
At the end of it all, ANet decides what they want to put in, and what they don’t.
And this is exactly how it should be.
The problem with a lot of suggestions is that they’re ideas taken straight from other games, as opposed to the content being broken down, looking at what concepts of that content are engaging, and then reworking it to fit into the game while keeping them engaging concepts.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

Oh please LOL other more free games update their ui in what is normally called a kitchen sink patch by now or do you seriously want us to list the games that all updated theirs before their 1 year anniversary.
This is an aside concerning the updates they do need which wouldn’t take much time for them at all considering how quickly they’ve come out with much more complex so called “bug fixes” for farmable areas in Orr or the ever popular argument they couldn’t possibly fix the imbalance on classes when we’ve seen them churn out unnecessary and misguided nerfs destroying whole sets of builds not to mention classes in a couple of weaks time.
The weakness of your excuse is showing, and it doesn’t suffer from the nerf to weakness in the latest patch.
The other argument i find stupid is that “it’s from another game” mmos have been using ui elements and store elements from other titles for years doesn’t mean they are bad or wouldn’t improve this game immensely. Head over to Wildstar and count the sheer number of ui elements that game is going to launch with and then come here and try to make that claim.
cmon you guys can do better than to make these baseless arguments against us pointing out the obvious.

Most defiantly they do listen, but they cant do changes as every player want so they try to go middle road.
Anet does a great job with improvements imo, the game plays smooth, they release content all the time. Half the time I’m not done with the previous release when they release new stuff. They just released a new dungeon which I found to be very fun and challenging.
Anet does their best to please their fan base the best they can but the game is designed with so many ways to enjoy it that pleasing everyone at the same time isn’t going to happen.
I want more WVW content, you want more dungeons, the next guy wants more Spvp, other people want more meta events.
My suggestion for people running out of stuff to do is……Go outside and jump on your bike for a while, your obviously playing the game too much if your running out of stuff to entertain you.
I play the game 4 days a week at night roughly and like I said I have more to do than I can do.
