Build XX/XX/13 Content Update Release Notes
LIVING WORLD
Events

  • Certain group events and meta events will now have/show a countdown before starting to give time to players to gather up.
  • Bosses in group events will hit lighter when their life is above 98% and they are attacked only by one person.
  • An extra factor has now been added to the rewards of the events in Tyria. Event rewards will now scale slightly higher depending on their distance from the nearest Waypoint. Contested waypoints will be considered Inactive.
  • Some events will now spawn item rewards. These rewards will range from a single tier 6 crafting materials to a very rare chance to get a philosofer stone. The item will spawn as a chest at the feet of the player upon the event’s completion.
  • Groupe Events will now grand item rewards.
  • Events that are left unchalenged for a long time, or fail often by the player will now get a “Distress” icon and upon completing them the player will get an item reward.
  • When a Groupe event also has a “Distress” icon, the item reward will have a higher chance to be of better quality.
  • Large meta event chains such as the Seraph Assault on Centaur Camps in Harathi Hinterlands, or The Temple of Balthazar in Straits of Devastation will now keep track of how early you chalenged the meta event and increase your chance of getting better items from the final chest.

Scouts & Heralds

  • Scouts will now give the player an option to give exposition on the area, even when the players has completed all the nearby renown hearts.
  • Scouts will now have an option to point the player to the nearest event in progress, even if that event is away from the player.
  • Heralds in each major City will now give detailed report on larde scale and meta events around Tyria that are in progress. The report contains the current stage of the meta event, the time since it started, and they will have the option to point it on your map.

Visual and Animation changes

  • New emotes have been added such as: /flirt, /kiss, /joke, /bored and /train.
  • Now typing /sit near an unoccupied chair will cause the character to sit on that chair instead of the floor.
  • Characters now have an Eating and Drinking animation.
  • You now have the option on the option menu to silence the noises your character makes during emotes. This does not effect the lines he/she speak during these emotes.
  • A second model of Hair styles has been added for each hair style. Now when equiping a headgear that only partially covers a character’s head, the hair model for partially exposed hair will take place and the character will no longer become bald underneath. Certain equipment had their visuals slightly changed to corespond with this change. (ex: Size/height of the head gear got slightly altered to match the universaly revealed head part. In rare Ascalonian Leather Hat removed the leathers that cover the head.)
  • A special teleportation effect will appear when the character is changing locations through waypoints.

Cities

  • Now All capital cities have a mystic forge, a guild mission vendor and a portal to the mysts.
  • New Jumping puzzles have been added to all capital cities.
  • Chat in all Capital cities is now linked.
  • Rare Non-combat events may now occurr in all capital cities besides LA. Their frequency will depend on the server’s percentage on WvW.

NEW FEATURES
Looking For Group system

  • The new looking for groop system icon will now appear on the uper left corner.
  • In the LFG you can choose to Create or Join a party, or let the LFG system send you automatically where you are needed the most for an additional reward with the Quick Join option.
  • Upon creating a party you can write comments for the players to read. If the comment is writen, the joining player will be shown the comment and treated to an option to accept or not before joining. Otherwise he will join automatically.
  • Certain presset conditions for Joining such as being a specific proffession, being equiped with exotics, having knowlege of the dungeon, or wanting to speed run can be chosen from a list upon creating the party.
  • In order to create a party on the LFG system, that dungeon must be unlocked from the creators end.
  • Joining players have the option to focus, ignore or avoid presset conditions before auto-joining a dungeon.
  • In order to create or join a group to a certain dungeon will require you to have discovered the entrance to that dungeon on the map.

Loading chat

  • During loading from one zone to another the Chat and party invites will now remain visible and functioning.
  • The area chat during loading will be that of the area you are visiting and not the one of the area you came from.

DUNGEONS
Changes and Rebalancing

  • Now the storymode of all dungeons will give the same rewards as the explorable modes, as long as it has been completed once!
  • Dungeons have been rebalanced so the Story mode will take more time than the explorable mode, but it will also be easier and with lesser chance for rare drops.
  • Explorable modes have been rebalanced so each path will have a diferent dificulty level and the harder paths will have beter chances for rare loot.
  • Dungeon Merchands have been moved from LA to the entrance of their individual dungeon. In their place, NPCs have been added that let you only preview the dungeon items.

Ascended Gear

  • Ascended Armour is now available in the game.
  • Laurel vendors will no longer directly sell Ascended items, but instead will sell “Stones of Ascension” for 5 laurels each.
  • Stones of Ascension can also be obtained by rare drops through Dungeons by participating in the harder explorable paths.
  • To make an Ascended item, you’ll need to bring 5 to 8 Stones of Ascension allong with 3-4 exotic items of the same type to one of the cleansed temples in Orr, or the central keep in WvW. There you can combine the said items and spend 30 skill points to trigger an event. Upon Winning the event, an Ascended item will be send to you where the stat combo, looks and type will depend on the exotics used to create it (Looks should be an updated and more detailed version of the exotic look). Using diferent exotics with diferent stat combos on the ritual will cause the final item’s looks and stat combo to be randomly picked among them.
  • Using crafted exotics to make Ascended items, will cause the Ascended to require more exotics, and the final item will come uninfused with no agony resistance. (and have to be infused later)

ITEMS
Mystic Forge

  • Putting 4 stacks of lower tier crafting materials of the same caterogy will give tier 6 materials of that caterogy. The higher the tier of the material you put, the less are needed on the stack for the recipie to work.

Crafting

  • New recipies can now be found in Tyria or be discovered by the player, that can help you craft unique skins though crafting diciplines. These reciepies require combinations of both tier 6 and lower tier materials to be crafted.
  • The Cooking and Jeweling diciplines, instead of weapon and armour skinns, with these new recipies will make potions and runes that transorm the player into creatures for costume brawling.

Karma vendors

  • Various Karma vendors across Tyria now sell various new usefull items such us:
    • Sturdier Harvesting sicke. (Like normal Harvesting sicke but can be used more times)
    • Archeologist’s Darksteel Mining Pick. (like normal Darksteel Mining Pick, but has a chance to loot sack of goods when mining)
    • Herbalist’s Still logging axe. (Like normal Still logging axe, but it has a chance to loot herbs while logging)
    • Pedler’s Orichalcum Harvesting sicke. (Like normal Harvesting sicke, but it has a chance to loot gems while Harvesting)

Sounds like a wish list o Santa.
Results of this patch:

  • It will encurage players to spread around the world.
  • It will give some extra reasons to look and complete events.
  • It will make the rewards a little more fare.
  • It will make it more fun to roleplay.
  • It will make party finding easier.
  • It will make scouts and heralds usefull beyond their initial use.
  • It will make easier for players to find content.
  • It will make playing more enjoiable by diminishing the disadvantages of the interuptions (loading)
  • It will give to the dungeon experience multiple scales in dificulty instead of forcing new players to deal with content designed for fully exotic ones, plus it will give an extra chalenge for the “over the top” players.
  • It will give reason for players to redo story mode, helping that way those who haven’t done it yet.
  • It will make players more attached to their hard earned ascended gear!
  • It will make all the effort A-net and players put into exotics not go to waste.
  • It will make it more rewarding to go back to lower level zones.
  • It will give meaning to unlocking hearts and karma vendors around the world, and will give you more stuff to spend your karma on.

Out of all the things I wrote, is this the only one that cought your eye?

I suggested this change to give an extra reason for players to do the dungeons meta events and keep them unlocked. It’s not like you use these vendors that often, and it’s not like all patch notes have to be licking out shues. Also I want things to go away from LA, and I think it would be more realistic to have the vendor that sells items from a dungeon “near that dungeon”. I also want players to spread around the world, …so ththere are a ton of reasons to have them there!

Events
-Tequatl the Sunless is no longer on a timer. Instead he will be spawned at the end of an event chain in the Splintered coast. For this event chain to start, Fort Cadence must be in Vigil control, the Hylek must be in control of the Zintl holy grounds, and all the Fabled Djannor events must be completed successfully at least once.
-The Shatterer is no longer spawned on a timer. Instead he will be spawned after completing a number of events in the vicinity, including the currently implemented “collect siege pieces for Crusader Blackhorn” and “Escort the Sentinel Squad to the Vigil Camp in Lowland Burns”.
-The Claw of Jormag is no longer spawned on a timer. Instead a new event has been added to deliver/retrieve ammo for the Pact flak cannons. This, as well as completing the events, “Defeat the Dragon Shamans to destroy the totem before svanir reinforcements arrive” and “Destroy the Champion corrupted quaggan” are prerequisites to start the event.
-Fixed a bug which would cause the event “Defend the asura while she repairs the megalasers at Armada Harbor” from starting.
-Reverted all the recent changes to Orrian monsters.

Cities
-Porting to any city is now free of charge. (Since you could port to heart of the mists to Lion’s arch to and from any city in the first place.)
-A new portal to Fort Trinity has been added in Lion’s Arch.

Dungeons
-Any gear worn above masterwork quality will be scaled down upon entering a dungeon. Any gear below masterwork quality will be scaled up upon entering a dungeon. This was done to give anyone from level 35-80 the same footing from which to attempt a dungeon.
-Normal level mobs now have a 33% chance of dropping a dungeon token, and a very low chance of dropping bags of money/drops of liquid karma.
-Veteran level mobs now always drop 1 token. They also have a low chance of dropping bags of money/drops of liquid karma.
-Champion level mobs now always drop 3 tokens and a gulp of liquid karma.
-The reward for completing a dungeon has been reduced to 10 tokens. The karma bonus is now replaced with a jug of liquid karma.
-All of the above drop rates apply to story mode, but at half effectiveness.
Currency
-Laurels have been removed from the game. The laurel vendor still exists, and sells the same goods it did before, but for karma instead. It also will convert Laurels into karma at a rate of 1/2000.
Crafting
-Many recipes have been switched around in level requirements and effects, to not make low level crafting materials obsolete when one has reached max level.

you realize that you gain karma from lv 1 and that would mean by the time you get lv 80 you can buy all the ascended items listed by the laurel vendor in 1 second without even bother to make a wise choice. also you propose that karma reward in dungeon become basically account bound with jugs of liquid karma (so you don’t have to bother to actually play a character in order to buy all the ascended items as said above).
why don’t dream about a patch note where you’ll be mailed all new equipment directly to all character in your account?

You realize Ascended armor would cost a kittenton more karma than exotic armor, right? Odds are it would be in the realm of 300k-400k karma for 1 piece of ascended armor, to prevent people from just ignoring the exotic tier completely. Though if it were me I would have never added Ascended gear in the first place, but it’s too late to change that now.

Dungeon tokens are already account bound, and money is as well, which are the only two reasons anyone does a dungeon these days. Even from a hardcore perspective getting the karma to gear up one person with ascended-level items would be difficult, much less several characters.

i spent 525.000 karma for the obsidian shard without the blink of an eye, and with the rest of karma i had i bought the old orrian jeweller’s box and still have tons of jugs of liquid karma…
plus rebreather, some jewels i wanted when i was low level, all the crafting recipes for the 2 professions i have, some armor for the skin, and if i want i can still buy an entire set of temple armor and still have some jugs of karma.
karma is a not sinked currency and tie ascended to that instead of a currency you can earn once a day means exactly what i stated, no matter if you pay 1k, 10k, 100k, 1000k to have it.
or they have to nerf the way you obtain karma

edit: and i have my 77 mystic clover
