Dungeons and jumping puzzles? How about no!
wow… D.@. M.n = kitten… nice1 arena!
wait… theres jumping puzzles that require more than 1 person? Then of course theres Super Adventure box currently that can be solo’d as a jumping puzzle dungeon…
And of course the game is an MMORPG, its not designed to be solo’d and putting in lots of content to that extent sort of goes against what they want the game to be.

Hit the nail there, this game is a massive MULTIPLAYER online game, so youa re not supposed to be able to solo everything (and I do like to solo a lot of stuff myself btw). If you want to do all content in the game you have to either join PuG’s or join a guild, if you dont do any of those 2 things, well simply put you wont be able to do all content.
(and yet actually if you were to be good enough it should theoretically be able to solo everything even dungeons and fractals etc, would just take a LOT of skill and time to do)
A Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game where you have to play with other people? What sorcery is this!?

I have done every jumping puzzle in the game, including the minor ones in dungeons ( Fractal Mad Asura ). There is no World Jumping puzzle that requires more than one person to do them… none.
The only one that requires 6 people in the Guild Mission Jumping puzzle, then again the key term there is GUILD.
I am in a small guild, about 28 members and 5 to 7 active ones at any given time. We are all pretty friendly and close, and didn’t know each other before the guild. Our guild has
- Art of war 5
- Economy 5
- Architecture 4
- Politics 4
Small guilds can have what the large guilds have, it just takes a little more time, and patients.
I have done every JP in the JP achievement category (plus the holiday ones), and I’m pretty sure I’ve done them all solo. I have had no problems finding pugs for dungeons using gw2lfg.com.
My guild only has three other active people currently, so not even enough for a dungeon.
So I guess I suck @ my favourite game… but that is no excuse to make these so hard. On the contrary. If you are so good to solo them why not make them available for the lamers like me for ex…
Lol I’m no lamer – I’m just so behind in gear and guess why – because I have trouble farming it. Don’t get me started on that one please.
I’m pretty sure that you can’t finish at least one of them (Swashbuckler’s Cove) by yourself – I had to help a person level 80 and in full necromancer dungeon gear to finish it. Try to finsh by yourself Professor Portmatt’s too. Let’s see how you do that with like level 55 char with blue/green gear only!

I finished all JPs on my own, so no clue wtf you’re on about. (wasn’t in exotics at the time either)
Obsidian Spire OS / EXS

I soloed Swashbuckler’s Cove. Sure it wasn’t easy, but I did it. Sounds like you were able to finish it though, even without a guild.
I also soloed Professor Portmatt’s lab, but I used a walkthrough for the numbers. If you’re having problems doing it at your current level and gear, then maybe wait a while until you are higher level and have better gear. It doesn’t mean that it requires a guild though.

I soloed Swashbuckler cave multiple times, it really isn’t that hard.
I am not saying your a lame/ sucky player but with all the tools available out there for dungeon runs you should have no issue finding a group. Also gear is nice it adds a small benefit but your skill as a player will always out weigh your gear.
I first completed Portmans lab with my level 48 at the time, there isn’t really anything in there that can devastate you. Most of it is trying to figure out the code to get the right coordinate’s
Short end is, the hardest part of 98% of the jumping puzzles are the jumps, how would you like to make them easier for you? They are an added side quest for completionist and people who enjoy them, they are not required for any other purpose. I guess you could always find a Mesmer player that is good at the JP’s and pay them 25 silver per a JP to port you to the end.
Not entirely sure what you’re on about the Jumping Puzzles; they’re soloable.
Let me get this straight. You’re dissatisfied with the structure of a multiplayer game not catering specifically to solo players?
Please, read that again and explain the logic in it.
Don’t expect a game that’s build around the multiplayer aspect to have everything available to solo players. If that was the case, everyone would just solo everything, since it’s quicker than teaming up.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

Your argument sucks. Simply because it’s online multiplayer game that means the ONLY way to play is in groups and teams? Makes zero sense.
Instead of criticizing the OP why don’t you just allow him to play the game the way he wants to play game? Let people play the way they want to play and have the difficulty scale to the party size. And yes give them all the same rewards. People can group if they want to group and people can solo if they want to solo. It’s pretty simple actually.
As far the JP’s concerned just do them all at 80 if you can’t handle doing them now. I’ve done every jumping puzzle in the game and I did them all solo style.
um the more you have in a group the harder the dungeons get noob. if u get “bashed to death” then learn how to dodge, use ur skills, upgrade weapons.
and play easier dungeons
its not the game….. its you!. get off this game coz they aint changing things just for u. sell ur account and play wow. that game with no point at all….play with the noobs (lol)
And yes give them all the same rewards.
Disagree on this.
If doing things solo give the same reward as doing them in a group, everyone would do the content solo.
Path of least resistance, and all that.

This game has many aspect of solo play,
- Leveling
- Jumping puzzles
- Explorer achievements
- PvP ( hot joins and Tourny’s)
- Wv3
those are just a few, so your saying that the one thing in the game that promotes co-op play should be removed for solo players ??
although your argument no matter how flawed it may be is still your argument.

sigh..
1)It was not an argument, it was a joke.
2)I never said you should need other people for everything.
3)I never said I agreed or disagreed with the OP. Being forced to play with other people for certain activities (like dungeons) is just something to be expected when playing an MMORPG.
4)Next time think for a moment before trying to shoot down someone’s comment.

I don’t know how properly to express my dissatisfaction with the game structure… Its complete fail so far. Before I get bashed for that opinion let me get my point clear…
I’m GW vet and have the game for a long time. I realy like GW2, but… there is some factors in it I don’t like so much.
It dead simple… if you are in a big guild the game will be a breeze (fail)… if you are solo you will be bashed repeadedly in anything you try to do (fail again)… anything – no jumping puzzles, no dungeons, no nothing… Is it really smart to bash the players for soloing the game? This kinda narrow the game to plain grind for me (and any solo players as well for that matter) as I’m not part from big guild. I’m sorry but I’m NOT a cassual player and I don’t want to join random guilds. My friends don’t like the game so I’m alone in this. I’m pretty sure that im not the only one.
Arena net, please consider the solo players exist! As the game have scaling dificluty its not so much to expect the kitten thing to scale down for a single player.
If playing with others wasn’t your cup of tea, then you should have thought about that before buying the game…
PS: jps are as soloable as they can be
Is currently emotionally unstable because Breaking Bad is over

What I tryed to explain is that the dificulty level is much grater when you are doing anything solo in this game and its not really needed. The game have scalable dificulty – why punishing players for playing solo… And btw – don’t get me wrong – I really had to help a player level 80 in full necro dungeon gear to finish the Cove… He/She died (not get downed – died!) like two times in a row just in front of me. How smart that is? Its really punishing – like 2 ghostly gunners are in group so once you hit one of them the other one jumps on you. You do recall the mesmer duelist phantasm? Well the gunner is much stronger. Just a single voley will lower your health dramaticaly, and they are mele fighters as well. After you lit the torches a veteran appears. If you have the bad luck (as the necromancer in question) to have the guners respawn on you – you are dead! No, don’t try to convince me that you are not… You could go like 0/0/30/30/10 with a guardian just to prove me wrong… but whats the point? You are not doing your clases just to farm puzzles are you?
In a few words plain and simple – the game have issues with solo players as its too hard for them, and its just like a breeze when you have a party. Even one person on your party makes all the difference.
My problem is that there is no such person… I have noone to play with. Dont get me started on that – im serious player. Playing like 5-8 hours a day…

So you use the example of a bad player to justify your arugmen or counter point? I have soloed that Jumping puzzle of a glass canon thief not a bunker gaurdian.

I play mainly solo (unless I’m doing Guild Missions or Dungeons).
I don’t have many problems
Also, if you don’t have anyone to play with, why not join a guild?
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
The only things in GW2 I cannot do solo are dungeons, taking WvW fortresses and most of the Group events. Everything else, I can. Seems about right to me.
So the game should be made easier for bad players? And what’s this about farming gear? I’ve never farmed gear, I just sold the stuff I got from monsters while adventuring and had more than enough money to buy full exotics for my character; no grinding required.
Look, I get that the game shouldn’t be so hard that only the “l337 haxors” can play it solo – but I’m a real casual player and I do just fine … and so far as I’ve seen so do allot of other solo players. They can’t make the game so easy you fly through it – wouldn’t be much of a game without some challenge. And yeah, there are a few things in the game ya just can’t do alone … pop into your map chat and ask for some help.
It sounds ta me like you need ta figure out what you’re doing wrong and work on that. Go to your class forums and say “hey, I’m doing somethin’ wrong because I keep dying solo – could I get some advice?” and you’ll probably get plenty of tips on how to pick up your game.
I get you’re frustrated, but trust me, I played Beta and this is a lot easier than the early builds ever were … they’re not going to drop the difficulty any more.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
I have three issues with the solo play. Mid level maps are deserted, the “trash mobs” in dungeons drop trash, and poor difficulty scaling.
Trying to do world events solo is not fun. Doing them with random people is fun. They are relativly easy and are a nice casual way to play and try out different builds etc.
If there was some incentive for beating the trash mobs more people would explore the dungeon solo before they tried it with a group. IMO it produces beter group players if they have some knowlege of the monster skills and patterns before they group up. Right now there is little incentive to solo since unless you take advantage of some glitchy mechanic or have pr0 gear you probably aren’t going to be able to solo a chest fight.
Also, the game scaling for difficultly is either flash or trash. You can pretty much faceroll anything through the main plot line or world bosses with gear 10+ levels below you. It gradually gets more difficult as you progress but all in all it is pretty easy. Now try to do a level 35 dungeon on your level 35 toon with level 20 blue gear and your chance of survival is about as good as a gopher dropped in the middle of a live shooting range. It is like Anet’s normal game play is beating up kids at the school ground, then you go to a dungeon and you are the dude on Bully Beat Down that drew Andrei Arlovski.
I played an MMO that scaled dungeons based on the number of players while still giving the same rewards for quite a while. The idea that everyone would solo and nobody would group is just not what happened. You could almost always go in with a guild group or just pug, and if nobody was available you could just go it alone. More freedom, not less.
