Game Breaking Features Design.
Slow down in combat? I rarely see that happening. So not exactly game breaking.
The downed state in PvP is what makes it better then other games PvP. When I’m down in PvP/WvW or even just dungeons, I feel like I’m still in the battle even when I’ve partly lost. It’s more exciting, while I can agree invis stomping is mood breaking, It’s not that bad.
1: slowdown in combat.
the feature which makes you get slowed while in combat i find so annoying and unnessesary to such a point that every time i get in combat now i feel my mood going down and i get annoyed instantly due to this.
Wrong perspective. You’re not moving slower in combat, you’re moving faster out of combat. Which makes sense for obvious reasons.

you can call a chicken a hen, but it still doesnt change the fact its a chicken…
the slowdown is extremely annoying..
the whole area, from jumping distance to running distance etc. is based on your normal speed and not combat speed, this creates some extremely annoying situations.
if the slowdown was only present while you where either getting hit or attacking then it would be more understandeble, but its a “state” of combat which makes it extremely annoying and even if it was only there at the actual impact moment it would still be extremely annoying to deal with.
its not a discussion since its subjective, and some people mind find features which removes all your own abilities like the “dolphin” part of fractile to be the best feature in the game and it should be there everytime you fight, while others might not think thats a good idea.
these two are the two things which i find so annoying and without any reason for being there that it will make me quit in the long run, its not a matter of if, its a garenteed due to the game breaking nature of these two features
They made slowdown in combat so players will not just run and avoid mobs too easily. This is the only reason I see for it.
OP is either trolling, or he has yet to understand the mechanism of this game after getting kicked around in pvp for 1k hours.
Honestly, I love the downed state for pvp. I got into a match where someone dropped me to 0HP, then started to do their finisher. I hit them with a hammer to knock them down and interrupt their action, stood back up (forget the actual name of that ability), proceeded to knock them to 0 HP and finish them, then collapsed when my timer ran out.
Getting that last little bit of revenge on the person who killed me was pretty amazing.
PVP Downed? The only bad thing is the rally option there, when 1 kill can resurrect 4 downed player, completely overblowing the domination.
Maybe players should start to respect each other and try to keep them alive – instead of agressively going for glory and other values.
Slowing down in combat? Erm… conditions, you mean? Well, its really a bit annoying.
I don’t like the combat mechanism of GW2 that much, but its still better than the most of the MMOs’s. Vindictus is just awesome, but its missing a lot of other game elements. TERA is the third, but its meta system… bad.
“A man chooses; a slave obeys.” | “Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
Some very small things can be game breaking for some people.
Slowed in combat, nah don’t like it.
Downed state, don’t like it but sort of got used to it.
Waypoint coats, don’t like them.
Armour repair costs, you die you pay, fair enough.
Trading post taxes, why, do we need gold sinks, will the economy explode without gold sinks.
Wvw culling, really annoying (Edited in).
So some things mean a lot to some, very little to others.
A friend of mine moved from WOW to GW2, played a bit the quit because his character moved too slowly.

Solid Gold.
Nearly every day I log in since release, my character is dead inside where I left it out-of-combat. Rep+WP cost for no reason. Even happens inside cities….okay lets move:
WWW culling. Hell yeah. Trallalallala, nobody around, lets pick those mushrooms up BANG BANG thief 2hit killed me, a giant amount of invaders slowly loading in. Oh I was in the middle of a battle? O.o
Trading fees…. They do nothing but increasing the prices.
People found out not to sell things cheap, now they put things on price calculated by item’s worth PLUS THE FEE. Wanted to buy precursor for 500g? Now its 600g. Be happy with that

He must not have made it very far… every class has speed boosters of 25%+
well, you need to get gold out of the game, so you need fees.
slow down in combat? yeah, would would also be slower in real life, because you have your weapons in your hands and need to be ready to block hits.
if you don’t want to get slowed down, while running through a map then dodge.
and to the precursor prices, yes they suck, but there are already thousands of threads about that.
And yes, culling sucks too^^
The thing I find a near game breaking feature is the idiotic forced down leveling. You never get a true feel of how powerful you have become with forced leveling between areas. This feature needs to be removed completely. The whole idea of linking levels to geographic areas is both annoying and completely illogical. Think about this for a second. You are at level 80 and you return to the area where you began the game and just because of your geographical location you are now level 1-5? Really? This system is absurd. And don’t cry me a river about how it makes the game “fair” because that is total bs. This feature could quite possibly be the game breaker for me.

Want a true feel for just how powerful a level 80 character is? Take a level 10 character and try to make it to the level 80 areas; if you do make it there, try fighting a mob.
The system isn’t absurd. It’s to make sure that you don’t have a few level 80s rolling through the starter areas griefing the beginners, it’s so you can go anywhere in the game and find some level of challenge.
And really, the way the game is set up, it’s not something you notice all that much.

No he didn’t get very far, and yes he left before the 25% speed boost, and its just one less GW2 player, no big deal I guess to ArenaNet.
However there’s a lot of frustration over quite a few things, some maybe ArenaNet will fix, some maybe they won’t.
But they are so slow, and I guess the longer they take the more players they will lose.
Solid Gold.

It is true and is very funny post. I liked it. It is very annoying when in TP show prices items prices with tax, when you look without tax, so you see that price of item is same or 1 coin different.
I realise if you want go to WWW, you need to have gold. For me WWW is just place where you sink gold.
The only thing I find “game breaking” on here was culling, but culling isn’t a game design to start with lol. It’s a dreadful technical/coding issue… Hopefully it gets fixed up with the upcoming updates planned this year.
Other than that, I actually like a lot of the things people on this thread dislike, and I’m sure there are a lot more people who like those things disliked.
TP taxes is kinda annoying… but any market place in pretty much all MMOs I’ve played have some sort of tax, so I’m used to it.

Absurd analysis Grumm. I actually took a 5th level character to the Toymaker area (Christmas time) with one friend so I have already “experienced” that. The two of us finished the area because, once again it leveled us up to the appropriate levels. That in no way allows you to sense the feeling of how powerful you are. Forced leveling ruins the feel of the game. Games that utilize this system make gaining levels irrelevant. You may as well not have levels at all with this type of system as there is no distinguishing sense of power regardless of what level you are whether you are first or 80th. The whole idea of stepping across a particular border and lose half or all of your levels is completely absurd. I have heard all your arguments for this system before. The whole “grieving” argument is nothing but a whine. Forced leveling is an absurd practice that caters to whiners and should never be used in games.
Neither of those features are game-breaking.
You’re just personally peeved with them, and trying to make a big deal out of it.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with moving slower in combat. That is actually natural.
And while the Downed state isn’t perfect, it’s certainly not game-breaking. It’s fresh, compensates for the lack of dedicated healers, and allows fights to be more dynamic then simple “who can land more damage” conflict.
Downed players in PvP give other players objectives to focus or defend. It creates points of vulnerability by making a player stand still to “Finish” when they’re usually kiting and dodging around like grasshoppers.
Lv80s: Guard, Thief, Necro. Renewed my Altaholic’s card on the HoT Hype-Train. Choo choo~
Moving slow In combat = should be using dodge, it’s your evasion button.
As for the downed bit, in other mmos ur dead, instead you get a second chance to get up, plus you can stop it in pvp performing a fatal blow.
Not really game breaking, but any finisher including stealth, mist form, stability, or that engineer mini stomper… those are very unfair in pvp.
Game breaking for sure is the weak dragon liutenants and making legendaries. Both very dull and need more attention than they are getting. But would I quit because of any of these? probably not.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”

ok i will bite
first of i said which features are game breaking for YOU!! wasnt really meand as a discussion more as a place to add which features you found the most annoying to such a degree that it will with GARENTEE make you quit the game in the long run.
now:
what good does the slowdown mechanic when entering combat add which couldn’t easily have been added without the handicaps/nousense which it also brings? i would like to hear this from you.
downed system: same quistion which positive do you see that it adds which isnt easily set in by a system which doenst bring the negatives of it?.
if you think all other successfull mmo’s pvp is just about “who can land the most dmg” then you are a idiot and you should just shut up and gtfo since you clearly have never ever played pvp on even a half decent lvl in any other successfull mmo which have a good solid pvp system in works.
would be nice with a change to the extreme restrictions on which skills you can choose as well, right now you can only choose the skills which is linked to weapons, it should be free to choose skills as you like and weapons should just be range, dmg rations etc.
Right click targeting. Gamebreaking issue. Absolutely. No.1.

This nonsense always makes me laugh. You’re right ArenaNet shouldn’t care. IT’s a free to play game, he paid them already. It might be nice if he was around to buy gems, but that’s not a guarantee of cash. He also didn’t quit, he just stopped playing, but since there’s no sub he can try it again any time he wants.
They can’t lose players, they can only have players not logging in. It doesn’t really effect them as long as there are new people buying the game, which there will be.

As stated above by Patu this is far and away the worst ‘feature’ of the game (for me) and the closest to being a game breaker.

can’t turn that of?
you mean that you want to be able to disable it from even acquiring the target when right clicking on it right?.
thats a fair option to want.
Why is it whenever I see a QQ thread, its started by a PVPer.
The world is not ending OP, everything you are complaining about is just fine, and doesnt need to change.
?! i am not a pvper .. i do very little to no pvp these days.
why is it there is soo many morons like you with so little intellect ?!.. its like the mmo community in general is just racing towards the “stupid award” -.-

I know this post is kind of “old” but really you’re downleveled to keep the game fair. There’s no way around it. How would you feel if you were leveling an alt in an event and a TRUE level 80 elementalist/guardian/thief/anything with massive aoe/damage just came in and killed everything in one hit leaving you with no credit for said event? The way it stands now you can be powerful and keep your exotic gear but still be balanced enough so you’re not 1 shotting everything and ruining the experience of newbies to the game.
That aside, I personally don’t do a lot of pvp but if someone is downed and can manage to get back up is that considered fair or unfair? It seems like it would be fair if they knew their class well enough to exit a downed state. The only place I could see this as a problem is in the case of warriors since they can very quickly exit their downed state. But even then they’re most likely going to die right after their rally.

I don’t need the right mouse button which controls the camera to also have the same function as the left button for acquiring a target/activating an object. What I then have is a situation where my target is shifted unintentionally when I pan the camera if I happen to pan over an ‘active’ object. This active object can be another mob, a resource node or whatever.
It’s a design disaster.
I did raise the slow down in combat issue in my previous forum post/topics as well.
I agree its an unnecessary feature that turns off player.
Arenanet has to relook at how not to force players in that aspect in my opinion.
With the new daily achievement laurels system, there is no longer a need to force players to slow down since we will frequently be killing many foes along the way.

That excuse has been bandied about forever. It’s basically a whiners complaint and really has no merit as any newbie can move on to another area and come back to the so called “bullied” area later. Bullies cannot be everywhere all the time. There really is absolutely no intelligent reason for having level scaling in a game.

Toymaker’s autolevels you up to 80. Try somewhere like Orr or Frostgorge if you can even manage. In any case, I can kill some mobs near instantly in starter area on my 80. If there was no scaling I’d be able to clear an area by blinking. I like the scaling, it lets me go around with me guildies’ lowbies without trouncing everything before they can get close enough and keeps all the maps viable options to play on rather then being forced to stay in Orr if I want at least a little challenge.

This statement here just makes me think all shade wants to do is troll, and bully people in starter areas and laugh. To that I say thank you arena Net for making it so players like him can’t do that.
The slow down state is not that bad, it is annoying but nothing to QQ and rage quit over.
The Downed state, is a nice touch since there is no holy trinity here, you realize in PvP how hard it is to come back from a downed state. even in groups if I haven’t hit the person that died at all I do not rally. Other “Successful MMO pvp” is all about he who has the best gear trumps all others. The degree of skill involved is extremely minimal, Other MMO’s have dedicated healers therefore the “downed state” is replaced by a constant healer. Although is the down stat and combat slowing, and the level scaling are your game breaking issues ( mind you all these minus combat slowing are unique to this game ) then I suggest you go back to other games that don’t have this, cause I seriously doubt they were ever remove them.
