Guesting Exploiting Dragons
Agreed. Surely exploiting guesting for chest events should be a bannable offense? This wasn’t an intended use of it and it makes life unpleasant for players whose home servers are affected by this plague.
I also suggested removing chest rewards for guests or a guesting cooldown of 4 hours.
Same here. When I actually get to a dragon event it lags so bad that I really don’t enjoy it. They should fix this exploit.
You two are funny. Guesting is not the reason you got overflow its the loot. Nerf the loot and less people will want to do the dragon and there wont be as many overflows for the dragons.
(why there is an overflow)

Guild member 2: ahh overflow
Times this by 20-30 and you can see why there is an overflow for chests that have 99.99999% chance of giving a rare. Even if the guest was not there you still would of lost the chest because you waited till it was up or very close to up. Those who wait deserve the dragon, home sever or not those who put in the time get it. Only bannable offens is if they can loot the chest more than once by switching severs. Most people only guest because they don’t have the time to wait. They are not Farming the dragon they only loot it once. If they can loot it more than once then yes thats exploiter. The reason you are mad is because you did not get the easy loot. Most ppl on here that complain wait till 10mins till or even less and dont get in. Ive been to dragons 45 mins early (15 mins before spawn window) and its empty. So dragon farming itself is the reason for the overflow not guesting. Guesting is not helping but you should not handicap those that are guesting yes some go to far but there are those that guest to kill the dragon with friends. Why would you make them fight over which sever to do it on because only a few would get the loot.
Guesting cooldown is just mean and evil spirited to those that are not farming dragons. Thats like saying you cant join another WvW match for 4 hours or cant do another dungeon for 4 hours or another path for 4 hours to let people in.
I also love how you 100% blame guesting and only guesting. Do you see the whole flow is 100% guests? No maybe 10% are guests and thats on the high side. Its the guilds informing guilds that the dragon is up. If you wait for last min you have a lesser chance of getting in. Nerf the loot and you can it. Those that are just after the loot will go away. IF your just after the loot then get over it or go sooner.
Don’t want to wait? Then you don’t get to do it that simple.

^ merged guesting topic.
Yeah, the loot sucked before, now you want to nerf it? I don’t think so

I still don’t see why shouldn’t the restrictions these two are suggesting be implemented.

Member 1 invites member 2, member teles and boom, no more crying.
I understand the core issue though. I’ve already givin my opinion on the main page. I just came here to say “exploiting” ? really?
Hypothetical:
Player selected a world which doesn’t have people doing event
Player had no way of knowing that his server would die within a couple months of the game
Player now has to pay for a server transfer in order to get access to content
seems legit.
Pve shouldn’t be separated by server in the first place. There should be districts (like in gw1) and once a district fills up, another opens. This way everyone gets to experience pve with other players in sight. If that change is implemented then dragons should just be on one big timer.
I fight people, sometimes they kill me, sometimes I kill them. Fun is had by all. [/quote]
I am on a server that only experienced overflow on Lion’s Arch, but since guesting came in, all maps with the chest bosses are having constant overflow. This has never happened before, even at peak hours. I would like them to make sure that you only get that one chest per 24hrs – no matter which server you are on.
I have the same problem. On you’re home-server you should have higher priority than guests for not getting in overflow this would fix a lot of these things.

The problem with this is that there are already enough people to fill up several instances of Cursed Shore. One instance succeeds at the Grenth event while another fails. Now they are in different states. What happens to the people in Straits of Devastation? There may be more or less instances there—are their grenth temples active or not?
How long does it take to complete the pre-event for some of these bosses? Some servers are faster than others.
The other night I looked at the list of NA servers and was unsurprised to find that all were identified as “High” or “Very High” populations. I haven’t seen the metrics, but I am really curious to know from the people that have—is guesting really a problem? As a community, we’ve observed overflows for these events only after guesting was added and many people associated the two, but what really happened was several events got massive loot buffs, driving people to participate more. At the same time, guesting was added, a commonly farmed dungeon was recently buffed, and so on—the perception that guesting is at fault is based on coincidence, not evidence.
I can honestly tell you that prior to the loot buff, I had no serious interest in Shadow Behemoth. I farmed it ~15 times over this past weekend, on my home server, and did so with 1-3 family members that wouldn’t have been there otherwise. So we’re part of the problem, too, even though we aren’t guesting.
