Guild Wars 2 on PS4
It would pull resources to make and I already have the PC version. So, I have no reason to want it to come to PS4.
Also the controller would need to sprout more buttons otherwise you will have some crazy finger gymnastics needed to be able to use all 10 abilities, move, interact with things ect.
One of the big issues with this is that the PS4 requires you to pay a subscription fee to play online content (or at least this is my understanding of it from the most recent information, I am quite happy to be wrong if I am!).
But if that is the case – there is no way a B2P company would be happy having their customers paying a fee to play their game that they aren’t getting any of.
but you would have to pay to play online since ps4 isn’t free online play and requires monthly and yearly subscriptions.
One of the biggest obstacles to releasing an MMO on a console, is the frequent free updates and bug fixes. Especially Sony and Microsoft have their own policies regarding updates, and whether they are allowed to be free. And any changes generally have to go through their QA, before they are allowed to go live. This makes it really difficult to run an MMO on a console. Unless they change this policy, it probably won’t happen.
I don’t think the many buttons needed for GW2 would be a problem, there are solutions for that. Especially with the new touch interface on the controller. You just have to be clever about it.

Another concern would be consoles becoming obsolete overtime. People can constantly upgrade PCs anytime for more high-end performance which will end up leaving people with year+ old consoles struggling to keep up.
Combining a pc game on consoles may have worked before, but it can be ridiculously tedious to do now, same goes for games such as Diablo 3 for Ps4. It might be nice for the first few years or so, but eventually the pc version will leave it dead in the water.
I’d rather stick to this version instead of throwing money away buying each new generation of consoles just to keep up with times.

not all games require Sub to play online. namely, Planetside 2 is F2P and doesnt have a sub on PS4.

I’m not saying the games do – I’m saying the PS4 does. To play games online using a PS4 you have to pay the Playstation Plus subscription. That means you are effectively paying to be able to play the game, the issue comes from the fact that the game developer isn’t getting that money, sony is.

Under most circumstances you would be right, but to use the DC Universe Online example again, DCUO is one of the only games on PS4 that doesn’t require a Playstation Plus membership to play. In other words it is completely free. If Guild Wars 2 would do this it would be incredible seen as it is a better game than DCUO fundamentally.

That is what I would have thought two years ago having never played an MMORPG on the PS3. But now that I have I must say it is surprisingly workable to bring an MMO to a console (at least as far as button configuration goes). DCUO had a system where you would hold R2 or L2 and then press one of the 4 buttons on the right (square, circle, triangle, X). This would effectively allow for 8 slot skills to be easily usable.
Then later additional features were introduced to allow for 12 slot skills to be usable. But ultimately all I’m saying is it is very do-able.

DCO is also part-owned by Sony Online Entertainment and exists solely on microtransactions. GW2 has no connections with Sony whatsoever and is a buy to play product with some cosmetic fluff sold in MT form.
It’s very unlikely that Sony will want to allow GW2 free access to its multiplayer infrastructure unless there’s something in it for them.
