I imagine this has been addressed multiple times, and I expect the usual “You should’ve exercised caution when creating your Guild”.

Personally I think they have a point; however, this game was built upon Guilds, as the name implies. Should we not have absolute control over the Guild? The Guild’s full name change probably shouldn’t be an option, but can we at-least change the tag for a gem transaction?

I’ll give you an example of why I personally would like this. My Guild, Talons of the Gryphon, has recently been connected to a large EU-based community which has bolstered its ranks, and assists with team-speak and the use of their site etc. I wanted to change the tag to represent the community Konvict-Gaming, so it reads something like Konv. At the moment it reads HatK (which represents an old fairly large Minecraft server that I used to moderate and use to play GW2 a lot with the Guild).

I understand some reasons why it isn’t implemented, such as Guild impersonation. Personally I don’t think huge Guilds should worry about this, it’s not like [IRON] is going to be slowed by some starter Guild that picked [IRON] aswell, it’ll probably be grounded very quick due to that fact. Plus, the Guild full-name will quickly catch out the mimic tags.

If a Guild tag could be changed via a gem transaction, I would immediately pay for it, since I think it’s worth it over being stuck with a tag that no longer holds any meaning to my Guild.

No, I’m not deleting my Guild which I levelled eagerly just to change the bloody tab.

I think they should allow full name and tag changes. There are tons of people out there who have personal bank guilds like me. My personal bank guilds just happens to have full WvW buffs because I’ve put points into bringing it up, but there came an opportunity to start a group of the regular players in WvW, regardless of their main guild, to form an alliance group sort of under 1 tag, one which would have started out fully capable with claim buffs etc….but the name didn’t fit the organization, so we ended up just starting a guild from scratch with nothing. Being able to change the name and tag would have been a great benefit. It doesn’t make sense that I can change all those things about my character now but can’t change the name of a guild.

You have made a fair point on the full name change. Since you can’t have the same name as another Guild, it wouldn’t cause too many issues with impersonations. Plus, who wants to leave behind a well-upgraded Guild just because of the name or tag, and have to start up a new basic Guild as a result?

My main problem with the lack of name/tag changing is this game is built on Guilds, it boasts about all the different option and control you have over your Guild… Yet I am unable to change four letters; four letters that are slightly ruining my Guild experience. It’s absurd, let us at-least pay for the changes Anet.

I would also like to cast my vote on this matter. We should be able to, through configuration or credit, change the Guild Name and Tag; if nothing else, at least the Tag.

As would I. Mine is currently WSU and everyone keeps thinking it is a university. I didn’t think that through when I made the guild. Please let us change the tag!
