Guildwars 2 Armory
Nope i dont like inspect in any way shape or form . just ask someone .
It sounds good in theory, but it ends up working like this:
People inspect you who think they know what they are doing. These people found their build on the internet, and it’s good, so if you’re not running it, you must be stupid and a noob. They have no room in their little brains to buildcraft themselves, and they know nothing about viability of other builds.
This results in much negativity. I do not approve of an inspect feature.
4 Warriors, 3 Rangers, 3 Mesmers, 2 Engineers, 2 Guardians, and Necro, Thf, Ele
-Beastygate Beast Milk, OG BG Veteran Native
i dont approve those two logics because everyone has the right to be better and get ideas from the other players.
and thats the point of creating a database(armory) like this.
asking someone is illogical? what is getting ideas from other players if not picking their brain about their build ?
In my opinion both sides are correct.
Guildwars2 armory will help people to improve their builds.I dont think that if you copy other people’s build at full point will help you,but i believe that if you can take a look at their build ,any time you want, will help you to improve your own.
The skill will still making the diference!
By the way i support “guildwars2 armory”feature
But on the other side, some people (not me) believe tha this feature will ruin the uniqueness of each character in tyria!
The problem is, traits and gear are completely secondary to player skill. If you give poor players an armory to guide them to a decent build, there’s no incentive to learn the game for themselves…that was the case in GW1 and in countless other MMO’s. Some people have the mindset of “I have my gear and my build, now I can faceroll to victory!” and frankly, I’d rather not see that. I’m all for discussion of builds etc. because generally the community around here is civil and people don’t mind explaining the logic behind their trait and gear choices.
I see the evolution of a “good” player like this:
-New player picks a class they like, which they know nothing about.
-New player levels to 50-60 ish, playing with skills and builds, finding what works for them and what doesn’t.
-70-80, a player has a decent understanding of their class mechanics, and begins crafting a final (subject to change) build to suit their play style.
If you have a site where new players can go to grab an “Übermensch” build, there’s no incentive to learn their class since they already “know” they’re building towards the “best” build.
you say the logic of a player who will copy a build is like “i faceroll for victory.”
hm let me think..
how many people you see they dont even know what AOE is man?yesterday i was in wvw with commander krosis and we tried to explain WHAT AOE IS..and u tell me now that people will be PRO if they copy a build?..man seriously..if u want to be a good player,u will search on your own and u will improve your skills.armory is just an option will help you to open your mind and see other things that people think..nothing more nothing else.it depends how you will use it.
dont you agree?
Bobolas, i would recommend checking out the merged /inspect thread if you can find it. There is a lot of discussion relevant to your post.
The TL;DR of it is:
The fear that info gleaned from /inspect or an armory page could be used to alienate players, make fun of them, or lock them out of groups is seemingly greater than the learning potential and curiosity of finding out what other people are wearing.
There is an overwhelming and, in my opinion, exaggerated fear of underlying elitism in this game that is just waiting for a tool like /inspect so it can rise from the depths and enforce cookie cutter builds.
Whether the actual in game population feels this way, we will never know. But you won’t find many friends on these boards.
i have seen that scrambles..
I also understand what’s your point i just suggesed that could help alot the game..
but im sure people dont like it becauze it will “elitism” as you say tha game..
ok it was just my opinion and i hope some people found it alternative
i still believe that would help game or something like this, something about the same as an armory
i dont approve those two logics because everyone has the right to be better and get ideas from the other players.

Then why not use the Profession forums to ask? Or websites that hosts builds?
You don’t need an option to see what other players have in order to improve, since there are already resources and ways out there to do this.
Actually, it’d probably be less preferable, since unless you add an area for people to type (which chances are most won’t utilise anyway), they usually don’t give reasons as to why they’ve chosen certain skills / traits / gear ect.
These explanations can also lead people to look at the choices made to see if they can also be improved upon.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
@thedaibish sir,
not so many people are using those websites for hosting builds and the forums are totally uneffective..they dont help..they confuse more..i prefer something more clear..

The only thing clear about an Armory is what they are using, and no why they are using certain things, and what things you could use in the place of things.
That in itself makes it unclear, unless you simply want to copy a build. Thus, for truly improving both your build and profession understanding, forums – along with the discussion that goes with it – are infinitely better, providing you can extract the information from the discussion.

exactly..thats called SKILLS TO PAY THE BILLS..
if u are skilled ur will remain skilled..if not..u will remain as you are..thats the right thing of an amory

In which case, using the Armoury to improve would be moot if what you say is true.
The reasons you gave for implementing an Armoury (sharing builds and opinions, improving gameplay, seeing things in a different light) wouldn’t fully be realised with an Armoury, since it gives no room for discussion:
- Why choose skill / weapon / trait / gear A over skill / weapon / trait / gear B?
- What if that particular build is built to synergise with a specific group he plays with, making it unsuitable for solo play?
- What if they swap certain skills / weapons / traits ect out for specific situations?
- What if they have a number of builds they run?
The Armoury wouldn’t show these types of questions (unless there was a place for people to write, and then it’d be up to them to write these things in), whereas targeted discussion via forums would allow people to help improve a build.
Yes, personal skill comes into it, but someone using a build optimised to their playstyle will have the advantage over someone using a build they have no idea how to use properly.

I agree with you daibish..we have the same opinion..and you can ask in forums why somebody use a build or so..or as you said..“(unless there was a place for people to write, and then it’d be up to them to write these things in)”
