Title says it. 30g for pieces of Tier 3 race armor is laughable. The stats are easily surpassed with other Tier 3 armor and are going for 1/10th of that price on the trading post. You can’t argue that it is for the skin because you can only transmute it with other crappy race armor. Why this armor was given inferior stats and crazy pricing is beyond me. As is, race armor is barely worth 1g if that. Maybe if you hit 80 and are under geared and want something decent to wear while farming 20g for the suit you really want, this would be worth it. But wait, the chest alone is 30g. At any rate here are some proposed solutions in preferential order:

1. Race req is attached to the skin instead of the stats. This is the best solution. I doubt it is an easy fix and if I am guessing how armor was coded, it will take time. Maybe you guys are working on this in the background I don’t know. I know the game threw you an unseen curve ball with launch. I am hoping this is your idea already to fix it.

2. Up the stats to match other tier 3 armor. This one should be done regardless of what you choose to do. There is no reason to have the stats be so low. Raising them only serves to have a gold heavy version of other armies that already exist with no race req.

3. Lower the price drastically. Seriously, this armor is merely a novelty ATM. I know there is an achievement for them but as I say, novelty. They have no use in the game at their current stats and price. They might as well be snow globes or something.

I agree that tier 3 armor is over priced, especially for it being rare armor not exotic. Insano..

So there are people who spend their money on in game novelties? That disputes nothing. The fact remains there is no reason to buy this armor other than novelty alone. Some people may see it as a trophy for acquiring 90+g I see it as a waste of 90+g. Neither are right, but there is no denying that this is a missed opportunity to offer your players more variety and choices. There is no valid reason to have it be as it is in the game. It is misleading at worst and pointless at best.

I have to agree with OP, something about t3 needs to change. Either price or stats, because as it stands, the payoff isn’t that much. I like the look of my Human’s t3 armor, but I beyond that, I don’t have much motivation to wear it, or even get it.

This was a decision, you are buying the armor for the looks, not for the stats. You are meant to be noticing that T3 gear is not appropriate end game gear by itself and going and getting the appropriate gear another way.

A way to put it. Go farm dungeons/do dungeons and earn the rewards to buy that armor with end-game stats. You then spend the money you earnt from the dungeons/farming to go out and buy the T3 armor. You transmute the T3 onto the end-game gear to get your desired look.

I have also got to disagree with the pricing. I have not yet got a single part of the T3 armor and yes I do want it. But it is a rare thing. You don’t see everyone running around in it, lowering the price will make it just another casual bit of armor and it will lose the meaning.

That’s how it USED to work until Anet realized that this allowed humans to wear charr race armor and so on. Now race armor can only be transmuted with other race armor.

Buying race armor right now for armor purposes is saying “I want suck considerably more for 5x the money of people who have good armor.” Regular T3 med armor has a defense of 1064, race armor is 942. Additionally, the stat bonuses are 20% lower on race armor. But the crappy chest piece alone is sold for more than a full set of armor that gives 1064 defense and 20% more to your stats.

Why the hell would you want a race armor then? just to afk in town, this is so dumb i cant even express myself enough, if you payed for that crap, you wanna use it, in combate and everything.

It’s not supposed to have good stats. It’s about the skin, just like the Order’s sets. If you want it, you pay gold for it.

i use mine as my magic find set. don’t wear it as much now, but i might spend gold again to re-buff it with proper runage.

Or at least they weren’t, I forget how much they’ve changed. Whatevs, I paid like 2g for the full Whispers set, clearly that’s all that matters because I’m the only important person I acknowledge.

Tier three cultural armor is supposed to be a bit rare, so don’t be shocked that it takes a bit longer than 15 mintues to farm the gold for.

Could you post the particular patch note list that’s from? I can’t recall seeing it.

Edit: I found this: Transmuted cultural armor now prevents opposing races from equipping it.

But that doesn’t seem to be what you’re referring to. Was another change made that I missed?

I tried transmuting cultural armor recently. No problems. It wouldn’t let me wear it on my charr, though.

Also, I did try. I transmutated my Cultural glove with Cabalist gloves.
