Map completion star for Pve map only
You do not need PvP to get map completion.
In fact PvP does not even count for map completion.

You know he’s talking about WvW.
And yes, map completion is a pain when ArenaNet practically NEVER changes up the WvW sides anymore, or even map colors. With the same teams every week, we get the same results every week (so I guess they aren’t as evenly matched as they should be). It took three months of waiting just to finally have all 3 map colors come up for our server. And since my world is perpetually #2 in our unchanging weekly matchup, I have never been able to get that final little bit at the center of the Eternal Battlegrounds.
So a big “Thpppt!” on ArenaNet’s “matching up” abilities. They need to change up opponents and map colors week-to-week to break the stagnated results of WvW, and give everyone a chance to be #1 once in awhile so they can finish up map completion.
But the OP is right… there are people in WvW that are only looking to sneak around away from combat and just work on map completion. (Or pop through temporarily to avoid high waypoint costs). If I were a serious WvWer, I think it would really annoy me that people who want to participate in actual WvW activities might not be able to get in during busy hours because his spot is being taken up by a PvPer working on map completion.
Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.

From the Wiki
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_completion
“Map completion is the act of visiting all Points of Interest, Vistas, Waypoints and completing all Renown Hearts and skill challenges on a given zone. After completion, a blue loot chest will appear that the player can then open and receive a reward. In addition, the player will receive a mail pertaining to the accomplishment if the map completed was not a city. Completing all maps in Tyria and World versus World is required for world completion.”
Sorry for the confusion, i was using the term Pvp for WvW, Group tournaments, Blob wars, because its all player vs player to me as opposed to Pve. What i specifically was referring to was the requirement for WvW map completion
Game is tailored to all aspects of the game. You need world completion for legendary. I totally thing world completion should incluse wvw because its essential aspect of the game (plus its part pve and pvp). Wvw may be a pain for world completion, as long they don’t add more poi, wp or vistas for new wvw maps in updates I be happy. No more wvw areas counting for world map completion.
Right now pve is keep getting new wp and poi for map completion. If someone joins a couple years from now in game, they may never get world completion at that pace.
No adding no more stuff in wvw that’s for sure.

WvW IS PvP, period. Just because there happen to ALSO be NPC’s doesn’t make it any less so. WvW is a cool feature in its own right to be certain (I can’t speak to the above mentioned matching system as I don’t play in it) but the OP is right in that it absolutely should not count towards world completion. That should include all areas accessible in the main world, including Southsun Cove which for some reason doesn’t count. A great deal of players, myself included, find PvP to be not fun at all but DO like exploration and being rewarded for it. I should be able to get an exploration title without having to be gang banged by a dozen guys who can obviously tell I’m not fighting back in the slightest.
However, I can sort of see an argument for needing those areas mapped anyway so my suggestion would simply be give players the option to explore an area without being able to damage or be damaged to other players. This of course would be abused by children so I suppose you’d have to limit what they see somehow. I have no idea if that’s possible but there you go.
+1
WvW maps shouldn’t be part of the map completion. Players on a less populated server – like myself – have next to no chance to do it, since all the battlegrounds are constantly dominated by one opposing server. And I feel heavily shafted by the fact that just because this other server can nonstop zerg WvW, I’ll practically never be able to complete the map 100%. There are certain areas that never get taken over by others, at all.
Additionally, it can be quite devastating to die in WvW maps while completing it – either by mobs, players or anything else – and then teleport all the way back to the opposite corner of it. Even if I try all the time, which I do, there are certain points I can never get to.
The least they could do is put the vistas/points of interest outside the forts, so that even those players can get it who do not control the given fort.
