Mounts/Addons/ and an LFD
Please add/allow these to the game. they are the biggest things in my opinion missing…
I keep looking back, and Plyaing WoW. I want to enjoy GW2, but without these elements,
I cant help but keep returning to WoW…
I thought Anet wanted to directly compete with Blizzard? Not to mention the lack of the holy trinity and Raids, I don’t see how they can do so….

It sounds to me like you enjoy playing WoW. Guild Wars is a different series with different gameplay elements. These things are not needed in every game. Not every game needs to compete with WoW. It would be a boring world if all forms of art lacked inspiration in the way you are requesting.

I like the way GW2 is now, as said by Toxyn already, not every game should be like WoW.
This is a diferent game with a different style Those changes yu want will probably never happen, if that makes GW2 unenjoyable for you then this isn’t the game for you. Also competing with WoW doesn’t neccesarily mean that the games should be alike.

I don’t see where mounts and addons especially, would fit in this game. Pretty much every addon I think of that’s in other games I feel would not be needed in this game.

The only thing this game does need from other games in a dungeon finder, to stop the majority of the population in one city spamming the /map channel for a specific group.

And sometimes you can only beat fire with fire, if water just alone doesn’t help .
So from his standpoint of view, titan is just right.

Whatever, in the end it stays anet’s decision, if they will add mounts to the game, or not. I personally would be happy over them too and I’m not a WoW player, was never and will never be one …

I came here and hope to stay to watch this game become it’s own awesome self, not a copy or clone of some other game many of us left.

Yes they want to compete, but how is copying another games game-play competing? Wouldn’t that just be following? The way you compete is by using your own skill and style to beat out the competition. Also, in my opinion WoW is horrible in every aspect possible. Its a childish time wasting game with no wow factors. Its much to simple and has no challenge. The entire game is based upon pick your race, pick your class, spend hours grinding each day like a zombie, then oh look you found good gear. I guess its time to go raid with the other clones. Now compare that to an actually good MMORPG such as Guild Wars 2 or Dungeons and Dragons Online. In DDO you have to pick your race, choose between not just 1 class but the ability to mix up to 3 different classes, then you have to distribute your Ability Points into Strength, Dexterity, Charisma, Etc, and in doing so one slight slip up in distribution can make the difference between being an overpowered tank taking little to no damage or being someone that wants to be a tank but cant even use a tower shield. That is just the simplest part of the challenge. Then in GW2 you have to learn to time your dodges and spend your points into the correct traits for your play style. Also there is no grinding, because there is a mass amount of different missions to do. Your main storyline, group events within the world, dungeons at all different levels, exploring the world, and even striving to create your own legendary weapon. Once again WoW is just select, select, grind, rinse repeat. The lack of challenge within it attracts mainly children and the fact that any player with even a tiny bit of skill can get tons of max level and fully geared characters within a small amount of time is just sad. What is the point of playing a game if its to easy to produce any thrill at all or if its just a generic clone of all the other MMO’s out there. The Guild Wars franchise proudly spends their time making their own unique and thrilling game with aspects no one has ever put into an MMO.

i wouldnt like to see mounts/add ons, but i do agree that a LFG tool is needed.

Really though, if you want those things and can’t find yourself to play Guild Wars 2 because of them, you should really go back to World of Warcraft. It suits your needs.

Founder Mike O’Brien clearly states “We were number two to World of Warcraft with Guild Wars, now we want to beat them. We’ll be satisfied when the Guild Wars 2 is the most successful MMO”

Normally, the whole “go back to wow” statement just makes me disregard those peoples’ opinions but here it is valid. You say you enjoy and keep playing WoW, so play WoW. If you don’t like Gw2, don’t play Gw2. ArenaNet has approached many common MMO elements very differently, most of them with great success, no need to copy and fix what isn’t broken. And for the millionth time, mounts serve no purpose in this game. The zones and lore simply do not support them in any way. If for w/e reason you still wana rant on about the necessity of mounts, type “Mounts” into the search bar of these forums and post there.

Maybe copy would be the wrong word. But you did say " but they should offer at least the same options, and more!!!" You’re basically wanting them to make it like other games in more ways when it’s never going to be. The only thing I can see being added to this game that is in other games is a dungeon finder, that’s it.

To me, it sounds like Guild Wars 2 isn’t the game for you.

Easy answer to the mount request, have you looked at the npcs? Have you done those escort pack bull de’s? You see anyone riding anything? I’d say it’s safe to assume that since the npcs walk everywhere that’s what we’re going to keep ending up doing. I haven’t really played other mmos so I don’t know how mounts and the other things your requesting work in detail, but GW2 seems to work well enough without them so I don’t see much of an issue. I’d like the waypoints to be cheaper yes but that’s something that probably won’t be addressed. A LFG system would be nice though, although using the LFG website I already run into a lot of elitists….

I don’t need mounts.The waypoints are a lot more faster than mounts.
I don’t think i need addons either.
Now grouping system is a different story.I wouldn’t mind getting it in game.

Mounts arent needed. We have waypoints. If you’re so lazy and don’t want to take the time to discover them.. No ones fault but yours. Also, I played WoW for 6 years straight, I don’t NEED Addons to play Gw2. If you can’t play without them then too bad for you. If you can’t enjoy Gw2 because of it not having addons, well that’s just sad, for you anyway, not for many others. They shouldn’t HAVE to have mounts, addons, or a LFG as its properly called, in order to compete with blizzard.

Now, would mounts be nice? Sure. But in the long run are they a must have? No.
Would addons be nice? Sure. But in the long run are they a must have? No.
And same with the LFG tool. It would be REALLY nice to have but you don’t NEED it.
If you NEED it, then go back to paying $15 a month.
Also realize how old WoW is and how new GW2 is. You can’t have such high expectations right off the bat and try to compare the two games so soon.

a 4 month old game can’t offer “more” than an 8 year old one, the excel it has to be different. We just need a dungeon finder. mounts are a waste of time, we run faster outside of combat. Addons are what happens when you have a worthless ui, better to improve the ui for everyone.

I’ve no love for mounts (but my own suggestion for this is an Afflicted Necromancer), but uh, doesn’t anyone miss rollerbeetles?

Wondering as to why Mounts don’t serve a purpose and don’t fit into the Lore of this game…hmm money saver, sure you have to buy a mount in the beginning but pays off in the end for not having to pay for way points, could be implemented in some interesting way for PvP.. great for RPers and fun for those who like to collect!! And yes Mounts are in the Lore of this game.. how do I know this, it was in my story line. I have a lvl 34 Ele who has joined the Priory, she was sent up into the frozen mountains along with her Salvary companion. We came to our destination a cave and proceeded to enter, through our journey in there we come across a large ghostly Drake My companion says this “this is the princes MOUNT, he must of left it behind.” Not pet, not companion she states MOUNT…why does she say mount? Mounts could be interesting..it’s all in how you bring it to the table!!

WoW was great because it took all the good from the bad. Anet is taking all the bad from the good. I don’t think we need mounts, or add-ons, but LFD is needed, pretty sad when the community has to make an LFD system, LFD should have been in day 1.

Mounts would be nice, addons I’m not sure, LFD I do now know what is, holy trinity should stay away, raids would be cool.

Liking and wanting any of these features have nothing to do with WoW. I want mounts and I want a dungeon finder, these are great features which improve convenience and enjoyment of the game. I do not and have never played WoW with a sub, that is one of the reasons I find the standard argument “go back to WoW” completely ridiculous and it just shows that the person lacks a working brain to form good, valid arguments.

1. The only way I would accept mounts is it they were purely cosmetic with no speed boosts and you couldn’t use them in towns.
2. Add-ons are a big “NO” from me. Add-ons bring things like convenience and customizability, but they also trivialize content, make it harder for new players to get into the game and sometimes force developers to work around them.
3. Sure, why not put in an LFG system? After all, if you’re going to join a PUG anyway, being put into one that is automatically assembled won’t matter. And hey, it might even be good, as right now you see plenty of people asking for specific professions into their runs.

Ok, I agree that WoW and GW2 need to be different games I don’t think anyone with common sense playing this game wants that. But being different and being lacking are two separate things.

Not having something does not exactly make it a feature but it makes it a minus.

Am I missing some bonding ritual beside the whole group up and go thing that grouping usually requires, what goes on from there is the important part, why does the seach and find part take this long? The trinity, however should always stay the hell away from GW2. I am glad to have found a game without dedicated healers since I was sick to kitten of games where healing was such a huge part of the game that it ended up spoiling many experiences, such as PVP.

My personal experience, as someone who mostly plays DPS, was that I got the shortest end of the stick. Not only did the tanks and healers get to freaking handpick their parties, in the game I played (Perfect World International) they started demanding the better drops or other perks.

First, why overcrowed, they added pets, correct? Are they more important than mounts? I’m talking about miniatures of whoever. The better question is, why did mounts had to bite the proverbial kitten

And how does a LFG stop them from doing that? Could such feature hold so much power over their will that the only thing they can do is to submit? It’s an option not a rule, why is that not clear by now? Better yet, why haven’t people understood the role and need of such feature from previous MMOs that launched without it, one coming to mind being SWTOR. If you want to use it, it is there, if not, don’t. Either way you can still group, but if your thing is to sit on your kitten and wait for a good period of time till somone you may deem inferior decides to respond to your add on the chatbox, then you can do exactly that.

Honestly I don’t care which way it’s being twisted, this is a feature to help people group for doing dungeons and other things that demand a group, not to vex people with social issues.

- Mounts for running around have no place in GW2, because of waypoints and speed boosts. Mounts you own are no good, because they’ll have to design areas with them in mind. So, what kind of ‘mount’ is ok?
Temporary combat mounts, like golems, siege devourers, junundu, and the like that. Stuff you can use in a limited area for a limited time, that change your skills for a purpose.

- Addons require extra time and resources to screen them, and in many cases change the player experience and open the door to stuff like macros and automation.
Modifications are a very good idea for all single player and ‘private server’ multiplayer like many FPS and games like minecraft and terraria, where the extent of the mods are limited to people who like them, but for an MMO they are bad.
If anyone wants something to be added to GW2, they should go to the proper feedback channels and ask for it.

- If by “LFD” you mean “Looking For Dungeon” or ‘dungeon finder’ then no.
The game needs a better party search tool. That’s clear if you see how party finding sites like gw2lfg.com are popping out to fulfill that need.
But it must be one that works across maps and even across worlds once guesting is up (if it’s ever up at all), and allows searching for a party to do absolutely anything you can do in a party in the game, including things like personal story and PvP.
It most be something better than anything ever seen before, not just some crappy automated party former for dungeons as seen in some other game.

I don’t agree, mounts would be nice for exploring before you get the way points, especially in cities. I don’t even bother exploring the cities anymore cause it takes so much time without a good enough reward. I did it the first 2 times, now I don’t care anymore, I might have if I had a mount. But more importantly, it would make resource gathering less tedious because you can’t exactly use waypoints between nodes, you have to constantly run between them, which takes time.

It’s not a necessity due to the waypoint system, but it would still be pretty nice to have.
