I love GW2 but I have a problem – I play nature based classes like druids and shamans, and GW2 doesn’t have one.

The elementalist is a mage, not a nature-based class.
The ranger is supposed to be the nature based class but it doesn’t feel like it. To put it in WoW terms, it feels like a hunter as opposed to a druid or shaman, just like the difference between a druid/shaman and a mage.

I just want to play a nature based class. So I have two suggestions:
Either
1. Fix Ranger Spirits and give them at least a staff. In GW1, many rangers ran around with staves and hammers. A hammer and/or scepter would be nice too, just to have more than 1 nature-magic weapon.

or

2. Make the ranger a hunter class, based around physical damage and traps and stuff like that, then ADD a legitimate nature-based class.

The ranger just doesn’t entirely cut it for me in the nature aspect, though it very strongly satisfies the hunting aspect.

Side note: If hunters get guns before staves, I feel like we’ll have go with option 2. That or just have a bunch of unsatisfied, nature-loving customers.

2. Rangers are already like hunters, they just have more utility skills like spirits. They have traps, pets and bows.

The game is still new, so more weapon and skill are bound to come in sometime.

I agree. They have great potential for both hunter and druid, but right now they’re only hunter.

Spirits are part of the Rangers, if thats what you’re looking for. Unfortunatly there isn’t too much fun with pet selection aside from feeling like a hunter/huntress so I can see where you want a more “nature class” but they do have Sylvari which might satisfy your needs (their racial skills). If they allowed more pet selection and got some “spirit” versions of some or something that could be cool. Don’t have to be any stronger than normal pets, just the look and type of skills would be fine.

It seems as though spirits are the ONLY thing giving Rangers the nature-magic feel. Tis why I say it has great potential for it, but it’s still not.

I’d like to see a nature based class too, where ranger is more hunter/beastmaster which is cool and all but not all out plant nature-esc. I would however like to see a whole new class on the subject, something released at a later date. That would be neat.

I hate the comparison between Ranger and Hunter. The Ranger is not a WoW hunter! The current design of the Gild Wars 2 ranger resembles a D&D Ranger more closely than it does a kitten Hunter.

I’d love to see a Druid or Shaman class, the Ranger doesn’t feel nature orientated at all, it’s basically just a warrior who uses a bow and medium gear.
