Need More Dragons

I agree with you———→ players often just refer to those three events as “dragons”
whatever you want to call them, this game needs more than three of them. There should be more of these events goin off all the time!
They are dragons. They just aren’t Elder Dragons.

well we’ve been doin the same three “dragon-type-events” and more would be better sooner than later.
I dunno … they aren’t that hard but they’re fun and visually appealing and people gather there and socialize and dance around and tell jokes and stuff… seems much better than hearing people spam “LFG Fractals…” all day
Three would be enough for now as long as these three dragon encounters have some sort of variety and randomness in the time they spawn, how they spawn, and where they spawn.
Right now, it’s just:
(1) Visit dragon timer website
(2) Teleport at nearest WayPoint for active dragon event
(3) Target dragon’s foot
(4) Click auto-attack
(5) Grab popcorn and watch the 85th Oscars replay
(6) Rinse and repeat
later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
Dragons are so mind numbingly stupid (stand in one place and auto attack). If there is any one thing that is broken with this game it’s the dragons, on a kitten timer at that. Zero challenge, faceroll skill involved, absolutely the same exact thing every single time you fight one in the same exact place on a clock. A legendary process it ain’t. I feel more challenged from a skritt.
Not sure how doing the exact same thing for anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes is fun. Dragon fights are mechanical and offer very little player input besides “stand here and auto attack or use bazooka 1” I enjoyed it the first time, but the tenth time? The twentieth? Got old real quick. The only reason people do them after that many times is for the chest, not fun.
They need to get rid of the current dragon encounters, make them roaming, use an actual mob model instead of a building model, and make them dangerous and unpredictable. Make them crash DE’s, low level zones…hell, any zone. I’d be hilariously happy if they attacked cities. And don’t put em on a frakkin timer.

i agree with a lot of things you said and, for sure, some of your suggestions sound really fun! I, and many others have fun with the current encounters and sure we want more more more too just like the next gamer…
Those are not dragons, those are champions of elder dragons.
since they aren’t really “dragons” that’s why they are pretty easy… whatever you want to call them and your enjoyment level of them probably varies but there are a lot of people that participate in them on a regular basis…it would be fun to have more than three to participate in…and more innovations to these events
I think, initially, you have to make them face-roll so that so many different types of players can all participate but if you add more of these encounters and perhaps add some really challenging feats (for example, fighting the adds and doing something special in that fight…) then everyone can still attend the original three events (currently in the game) and still look forward to other dragon fights while players looking for a challenge can find some special twists in each dragon fight that they can be given an achievement or just find a challenge that they enjoy overcoming…
I just think that the ease and openness of participating in these events with “dragons” would be better if there were more of these events than the current three that we now have =)
All I have to say is…remove the chest and see who does them then.

would be nice if they removed the rewards for fotm

If all you had to do in FotM was stand in one spot and auto attack, I’d totally agree.

isn’t it then just the same? in both you are simply reacting to a pre-set computer programmed chain of events that you learn and rinse and repeat…
the only difference is that dragons encounters are fun and fotm are mind-numbingly repetitive

Hay can you guest to a different server to redo dragon (well unless they are all on the same time)?
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA

Uh…what? The dragons don’t do anything except stand there. You pick a spot by the foot and either aoe or auto attack. You can spice it up and jump up and down I guess. The dragons are just building models who do not react at all to the players. They will do the same exact same thing one million times in a row regardless if there is no one or 500 people standing there, as long as the pre reqs are met.
I’m not against open world pve content, I’m all for it. But adding in more of the stale encounters we already have just so people can put them on a rotation and farm them is counter to fun. If you enjoy whacking the side of a barn, go for it.
I’d rather do events with a big group of people and I would like to see better events than the ones currently in game for sure.
I’m not sure how you find the Fotm currently in the game much fun or challenging after you keep repeatedly doing them over and over and over and over repeatedly over…
I’d rather chat and goof off with a big group of people than do fotm with 5 people
anyways we can debate on what you like more and what i like more forever but the point of the thread is that I would like to see more of these dragon style encounters than the three that are currently in game and for sure both of us would like to see these events greatly improved
Dragons are the most boring events in the game to me. I don’t think we need more of them. I think we need more epic encounters, but something a bit more interesting than the dragons.
It’s too scripted, and not enough fun for my tastes.
Every dragon event I have been too just turns into a mess. Tons of lag, no challenge, no strategy, just spam attacks at it.
Many of us have done the current three many times and they are there whenever we choose to do them… a lot of players gather to do them and the social interaction is fun during those events and the minutes leading up to them.
It’s time for more events and it sounds like a lot of players would like to see dragon events improved and things to do during them that are more challenging
bring us more Anet

This would be awesome. The Shatterer would not be nearly as mind numbingly boring if he would attack randomly up and down the Brand (since you can see him flying overhead all the time anyways), it would encourage people to patrol the entire area and then call out to their fellow players whenever they saw it come in for a landing.
And the idea of the Claw of Jormag perched on a building in downtown Holbrek is just plain amusing. XD
The sad thing is that each dragon does have some sort of extras that are suppose to make them more interesting. They each have achievements tied to them as well. The problem is that none of the extras are necessary to kill the dragon. Tequatl has the lazers for it’s achievement but everybody just goes around the bones and attacks him head on. The Shatterer is by far the worst of the three as everyone just sits on that one rock targeting his leg. The Claw is tentatively at the top as we do have keep mobs at bay so the cannons can bring the dragon down and we have to fire at the wall to get to him and there’s the whole second stage to the fight. I’m not saying it’s not an auto-attack snooze fest but at least it’s not as easy to ignore the mechanics as the other two.
I think they need to spice up the three fights we have before adding more.

I’d like them to add more and then spice the new ones up and keep the original three as an introduction to dragon fighting for new players…why spend the time changing the current ones? add the improvements to the new dragon fights…wouldn’t that be better to have more and better to the ones we currently have?
They’re not dragons, they are trains disguised as dragons. More on schedule than most trains in my country. Especially the dragon of 5 past 2 – that one is never late.
All the dragons have the same. exact. animation. I mean c’mon. The encounters aren’t exactly thrilling to begin with, but once you notice that, it takes it to an entirely new level of boring.
The only difference is their entrances and the fact Claw doesn’t fly, but other than that, they’re essentially reskins. This wouldn’t bother me so much if not for the fact THEY DON’T EVEN DO ANYTHING. They just stand there while you dps them down with no regard for anything. If they’re just going to be in one spot, I don’t think it’s unreasonable request to at least make them behave different.
More than that though, I much rather use his idea:

ya i would love to see them improved too
when I don’t have a lot of time to play i look to see if a dragon is spawning and go to the area and fight it with various toons I have hanging out there just to fight the dragons.
yes I would also like to see better dragon fights but currently the dragon fights are fun for a variety of reasons- especially grouping up with others- and it’s something I do in-game and would like to see more dragon events.
I’d like it to be better but currently that’s all there is in-game…I usually end up fighting the adds for 50% of the encounter anyways :P
Currently, the three dragon fights are accessible to the majority of players and if I had to guess, I’d say that ease of joining and participating in these dragon events was the intention of Anet. So yes please add new dragon events which are improved over the current ones.

I can see where you’re coming from, but I’m not sure the dragon encounters as they are would be a good introduction. They’re mechanics are already covered by other meta events in the starting areas.
Take Shadow Behemoth for example: all you have to do is not stand in the red circle, AoE the portals and shoot SB in the face.
Metrica Providence’s Fire Elemental got nerfed to the point that we can two man it. Again, don’t stand in the red circles, kill the Embers if they come after you, shoot the FE in the fa- err flames.
Why spend time changing the current ones? To make them more interesting. To make people still want to do them if more challenging dragon encounters are added. At the very least I’m not sure it would make sense to have a intro dragon fight in a level 80 zone. What I would like to see is the current mechanics brought more into play. These encounters need to be shook up or they’re just going to be an example for the devs of what not to do with the next encounter. As it is Maw has more moving parts to it and is more engaging. And it’s not drawn out so it’s hard to get bored.
I feel in order to qualify as an introduction to the fighting of a dragon one needs to learn something from the encounter. . .something we then use as a stepping stone for the next encounter. . . what do we learn from fighting each of these that we haven’t already learned from another Meta event in a lower lvl area?
okay now, after the recent update and one chest per day (per character), we need more dragons please
=)
I wold like to see smaller dragons 1/2 the size. That have room to move around more.
Claw of Jormag
Shatterer
Tequatal the Sunless25 more Dragons needed please
just for the players to have fun…not like their drop/chests haven’t been nerfed to hell… give us more dragons to have fun killing and make the encounters new and different.
Thanks!
Slow down Tanto. There are only 5 dragons they have to stick with the lore now.
Or more elemental’s like the Shadow Behemoth, only more challenging.
I think it’s a reasonable guess to think that the “Flame and Frost” storyline may revolve around Jormag (the real one) and Primordus. Those two would be “native” to Tyria and would make sense as expansion material.
It’s probably safe to say that Kralkatorrik will come with the Elona expansion (if they make one) and “Deep Sea Dragon” would likely come with a Cantha expansion.
Fingers crossed. I’m really excited to see Primordus and Jormag. Maybe they are even working together! Or perhaps they are fighting.
Seeing an epic battle between two dragons while the players have to do stuff inbetween to destroy them would be cool.
You should really read the lore of the game… These are all upcoming. Primodios “Drove the dwarves to extinction and what is left of them are still fighting the destroyers under ground what we are seeing now are just small groups that got threw”. The Deep Sea Elder dragon “No one but the devs know anything about him”. And we havent even fought the real elder dragons yet besides zhaitian.
What do you mean by the real one? In the meta event you only fight Jormag’s lieutenant. Further more we only know of six dragons and all are native to Tyria. Since Tyria was cut off from Cantha and Elona we do not know if their are more dragons or not. The “Flame and Frost” if it does open the gate way to another dragon will most likely only fight one of their champions. I hope they do not rush the dragons the game has only been out for six months.

Jormags claw,Teq,and shatterer are all just kinda LTs. I don’t think they count as real elder dragons. And I got my info from various sites and the offical gw2 game book that is sitting right beside me. If you were asking me lol.
I was adding to what you put.
Ok lol. Ya Im kinda interested in the deep sea dragon. They are really keeping anything about real hussh hussh. Im wondering if he is gonna be the biggest and baddest out of all the dragons.
He will probubly be the last one since it will open the sea to Cantha. We can get to Elona through the Crystal Destert.
If thats the case he is probably a few years off. Look at all the areas not even open in Tyria thus far. I doubt they will rush all that all at once. They will most likely gradually open up Tyria to us and then Kill the Deep Sea Dragon then we have whole new areas on differnt Continents.
One would think. Anet if your listening no more Dragons until after we open the other continents.
