Probably has been suggested a few times already, but since the search is broken…

I would like to see GW2 to have a “combat mode” option, where you could play it more like an action RPG, aiming your ranged attacks and melee attacks with a crosshair. If you don’t know what I mean, check out this unofficial mod that does exactly this:

http://wesslen.org/ICM/

And before the complaints – no, it does not make you a better player or make playing GW2 any easier. It just makes it play a bit different.

In conjunction to this, I’d like to see official controller support. I’m sure a lot of players would love to be able to kick back onto their sofa and enjoy GW2 on their big screen TV, without having to kludge mouse and keyboard on their lap.

Probably never going to happen, but one can wish…

There is a way to play this in a controller who ever said you couldn’t? But its prob more convenient to use your keyboard over your controller as Iv’e seen on youtube. With controller based movement is cool and all but it limits you to a certain degree which therefore isn’t the preferred way of playing. If you do want controller based game play by all means go for it just go to youtube type playing gw2 with controller or somewhere along those lines and you will see tons of videos with what your talking about.

This.

However, apparently one is not hipster enough if one sees a keyboard and mouse as too clumpsy.

I know you can already play GW2 with a controller and in conjunction with the combat mode it works pretty well, in fact.

It’s just that putting the support into the game would vastly improve the gameplay and eliminate the need of running multiple 3rd party software at the background.

And also commenting that ANet hasn’t really made a particular statement if using the ICM is legal or not. At least if the support was in-game, people would be sure it will be ok to use it.

You can alreay manualy aim ranged and melee attacks.

Put auto targeting off, and attack without a target. Its funny, but a very bad idea if you want to actually do serious pvp/pve (even if pve is so easy .__.).

Well I too wish this does happen. After playing Neverwinter Online, which DOES use this “Combat Mode” style of play, I far and away prefer that to what GW2 currently offers.

If a simple mod can make the game run just like Neverwinter Online, then surely the developers can come up with SOMETHING!

It wouldn’t be that simple. You would have to completely overhaul the targetting system, the combat system, it would require camera adjustments, control scheme adjustments, and I don’t even know what all else. A combat overhaul is no small task.

Defiance has a similar combat system, and I enjoyed it there and adjusted to it in Neverwinter Online, but given the dodge mechanics in GW2, it wouldn’t work the same for us here. They would have to introduce stats or an auto-dodge system.

Ability is what you can do; Motivation is how much you do; Attitude is how well you do it.
