Percentage of looted money goes into bank
What should happen is a guild can introduce a tax and a percent of the gold you loot actually goes to the guild bank.

Hot kitten is that a terrible idea.

I’d leave that guild in a hot second.
The guild been a leech is pretty common in other games. Be it money/ tax or experience …
@OP
unnecessary

Um no, if I’m going to tithe it would be to Lyssa or Dwayna.
Clearly none of you have played a game with actual guild value in it.
If they’re seriously going to introduce guild housing, and guild events, and guild s/tPvP, how is the guild going to pay for it? Taxes… just like numerous MMO’s that came befor this one.

Heck, if the guild wants to do something requiring money, pool the money from interested members, don’t introduce taxes, that’s catty as cat

What the hell….
Congratulations, this is one of the most ridiculous suggestions I’ve ever seen, second only to the ‘insta lvl 80 suggestion’.

Evidently, we do.

I guess guild value means required fees.
Funnily enough, the people in mine random buy influence all the time without being forced into it. How uncouth.

You don’t buy loyalty by taxing people in a video game to further your own riches
EDIT:
To be clear, I’m using you as an example of my words. Your people are so loyal you don’t need taxes for them to spend their money on their beloved guild. Taxes is not the way to go

^This, our guild gets more than enough donations. Forcing people with taxes is a terrible idea.

Who could possibly think taxes are a great idea…anyone here like paying taxes on anything you buy, on any paycheck you get? why would i then want to be forced to a tax from a guild that rarely helps me out. there are guilds that im in just for wvw and others just for pve related content like guild missions and jump puzzles. if a guild wants to gather money and the guild members like their guild then they will support it. the bank has an option for dipositing money into the guild and not being withdrawn by anyone but the guild leaders. if there was a tax do you know how many people would up and leave those guilds…all but the leaders who would be relishing in lots of money cause would they tax themselves? what government do you know actually taxes themselves when they get paid by the taxes you pay?
But as for the main question….no it would not be cool cause if you cant learn how to save money by going to a town and depositing money to your bank then you might as well be 1 really lazy cat or a hacker that wants to make it incredibly easy to farm gold. this would make a bot never have to go to the bank, but if you can actually get to the point of holding a 1000 gold on you and you just cant bare to port to a town to deposit your money or dont want to spend the 2 silver or u can port for free to WvW or The Mists and deposit your 1000 gold then this gold percentage to bank might come in handy….but if its implemented over the other Top 50 things that need to be fixed first i will burn this game in a bonfire.
No to guild taxes…
For the OP, this reminds me of Pokemon. It was nice knowing that I had more money in the bank at home, but money wasn’t as important to me in Pokemon as it is in GW2. I could see how this might be useful to some players, but I’d probably still just keep to my current method of depositing every level.

You get those in BL chests, too, so maybe they’re not as altruistic as you think.
Just sayin’.
Well, this thread got derailed fast. ^^
As to the game putting money in the bank for you, just do it yourself every once in a while. It’s not that big a deal to go to LA or to WvW and a crafting place/bank there and put money in. The Devs have a lot of content and bugs to work on, not something of doubtful convenience.

No. A GOOD SYSTEM is what WoW uses, 20% of looted gold is generated and deposited into the guild bank. In otherwords… if you loot 100G then you will still get 100G and 20G additional will be generated and deposited into the guild bank.

This, thinking that taxing guild members is a good idea they hould have their head examined. Especially ones thinking that other games operated that way LOL. The guild system in WoW was great imo and gw2 has some great features as well. If the two could be combined then IMO we would have a seriously amazing guild system. Buffs, bonuses, income for guild things, group events. Good things all around imo. The guild achievements in WoW were neat too albeit excessive at times lol.

I was referring to people straight-up buying influence in the guild history, but yeah, they do blow a lot of discoveries and whatnot on [TV] as well. =P

That’d make me instantly guildless.

Hey I’m totally fine with guild leaders asking for donations. Often I donate cash for servers too. However I don’t want guilds to infringe on my gold income.
Secondly, guilds already have this stuff called influence and merits which function exactly like gold taxes in other games. As such, a gold tax is entirely redundant and shouldn’t be implemented. Rather, guild housing would become a new influence sink.

If you are in a guild with a bunch of greedy Officers then yes. If you had a well run guild that meant it went to the crafters to make free food and potions for raid content and gear upgrades.
but in the end it doesnt really matter, because it doesnt take gold from your pocket which is why the system actually worked. It wasn’t a tax (kittenest idea in the history of ever) it was a bonus.
