Please add some sort of end game
Whole game is end game
Please no more instances, minigames, checklists. Add to the world! Use COMBAT! Build upon your awesome dynamic events! Stop the instance, temporary checklist and kindergarten story nonsense!
Adding endgame that makes groups of players implement strategy and coordination to overcome difficulty is what this game needs badly. And after you are able to down a super difficult boss or whatnot, having the chance to loot a special or rare reward is a plus. Players want to be unique. And they don’t mind working to get that rare skin or item. Please don’t mistake grind for dedication.
The thing is, clearly ANet is still experimenting with how to make that exact type of content. And no wonder, considering that majority of all MMOs ever did not implement any kind of mobilility aspect to their combat, not to mention GW2’s lack of healers/tanks.
And honestly, you cannot rush experimentation. It’s simply not enough for them to make something that works with their testers, they have to put it into the game, make it bug free and observe the reactions of the community. All of that takes a lot of time. From the looks of it, they are using Living Story as a kind of outlet to do this.
Personally, I’m not much of a rewards type. The best experiences I’ve had in GW2 were against Champions with one or two other people in the fight.
I understand this is not your normal mmo. It’s obviously aimed more for casual players. But adding end game content and more relevant and difficult world bosses across gives max level players something to play for. Currently, there just isn’t anything to do really. And what’s there, doesn’t reward you with anything everyone else doesn’t already have.
You talk about difficulty, but ask yourself whether that is what the community as a whole wants. The answer should be pretty clear. Most people simply do not care about difficulty unless it’s paired with adequate, if not superior, rewards to the alternatives.
Personally, I would prefer if they worked more on the Living Story and attached some weapon/armor skins to those. Make them longer and more coherent. Right now, Living Story feels like a seasonal event rather than a coherent story within the world.
Sorry but they don’t want tanks or healers if you pay attention to some of there interviews. They even announced that they don’t want to be like the traditional MMO, or at lest try. The tanks and healer are traditional and would totally mess up the game, it would make other class outcast to certain grouping like dungeons. One reason some or us don’t like it is because its boring as hell if there’s tankers just stand there and have boss hit you, totally stupid and ruin the fun and glorious moments. Healer kittened when everyone can heal just plain stupid a class that is only for healing the most usless type of class in MMO IMO, oh what’s your specia power? Oh I can heal……… wDF.
All I want is pure destruction!
Somebody has obviously never played WvW if they think this game has no endgame.

Mike,
GW2 has a LOT of endgame for a wide variety of players.
For those who like strategic planning and coordinated builds or just challenging content:
- WvW
- tPvP
- Fractals
- Current story dungeon “Aetherblade retreat”
For those who like to test their personal and small group skill to the limit against other like minded players:
- tPvP
- WvW
For those who like to explore:
- the entire massive world
For those who like to grind:
- Dungeons and fractals
- Open world bosses
GW2 has had vastly more endgame from launch that any other mmorpg has to date, enjoy!
Guild wars has end game, being world completion, achievements, legendary weapons, and gradually increasing types of ascended gear.
But, because legendary weapons take so, so incredibly long to get, players feel left out. From casual players to even some of the more hard core players.
Even if precursor prices were to be altered or precursors had an alternate acquisition method, the 8 stacks of fine tier-6 materials are just as costly to acquire.
And when you do get your legendary it counts for a measly 5 achievement points.
I think Anet shot themselves in the foot making achievements trivialized through both monthly and dailies.
You are forcing people who value achievements for their difficulty not for their skill to literally kill 50 bunny rabbits and then say here have 1/5th of what your first legendary earned you!
If I was anet I would reset all achievement points and stop awarding them from monthlies and dailies. Also planing for an achievement that takes into account every other achievement you have accomplished along with more innovative ones such as as those earned form jumping puzzles, fighting bosses, completing dungeons, pvping, and wvw.
I don’t care about achievement, points, anymore just getting my Laurel from dailies/monthlies and completing achievement categories to feel the sense of having completed those is enough. I love daily and monthlies but not to earn achievement points.
Players would still play every day to earn the laurels. But, then they wouldn’t need to waste their time killing bunnies, as easy as it is it’s still a waste of time. Especially when you would rather farm dungeons, bosses, or dynamic events to earn dungeon tokens, rares, ecto or those stacks of materials you needed for Legendaries!
And I’m still greatly annoyed by the fact that World V World Rank is per character, I don’t even care about the WvW traits. Especially when PvP Rank is not per character. Notice that they both share that word rank? It caries some level of expectation that they match.
PS.
And yes, there will be back lash if achievement points are reset back to what you have “earned through skill” in your other achievement categories besides daily/monthlies but what updated/change doesn’t come with backlash. Especially when you have only one team that focuses on balancing skills and their focus is primarly for sPvP which ends up hurting PvE and ignores a necessary more in depth balance of PvE skills. And then you have other teams that add content to just PvE and hardly any for sPvP. Although this is all just my opinion. And I may be wrong about how staff is allocated.
TLDR: End game doesn’t feel like end game because achivement points were trivialized through daily/monthlies. And legendaries are a royal ROYAL pain in the kitten to work towards but mostly the first part.
