“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
I have issues with a few key/mouse functions that do not seem to be changeable in the options menu. Please allow us to rebind all functions to whatever keys we want!
Right-click does the following:
- Camera function upon drag-and-dropping
- Targets a new enemy
- Works like an “F”-key (ie, Attack an already targetted enemy)
I don’t think there needs to be an option – right-click should simply not do the last two things in this list, ever.

You might want to try Combat Mode~ http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/10amev/combat_mode_10_released_arenanet_repond/
I currently have right click assigned to target nearest, up scroll wheel to next and down scroll to previous enemy.

i used combat mode in wvw and didn’t like it, you can’t look around in the middle of a fight. and i like to see my skill rang. they just need to fix the right click my number 1 problem with this game, not sure what anet was thanking when they made it.
Please give us the option to lock the camera on the mouse! This is my number 1 annoyance with the game. The ability to change the above mentioned options would work too, but I would prefer a mouse lock button so I don’t have to hold down my right button for 8 hours at a time.
I don’t have this issue with my Sensei, but it’s a good idea.
To me it just seems like the game drops my target a lot for no reason. It happens the most in pvp fights against mesmers (blinking behind me?) and at world event fights against dragons when they fly up or otherwise mostly end up outside my camera (I might be melee). I don’t pick a different target either, it just clears. I’m using right clicks to position and aim, and left clicks to look at other directions for approaching enemies. Also seems to happen more with far away targets – I once stood checking keep wall hp for a treb user from max targeting distance and target cleared up every time I looked (turned camera) away from the wall.
I’m willing to learn a new keybinding for target clearing if needed, although I’m used to left clicking empty space. Left clicking another target still needs to pick them but click-hold-release never should, whether dragged or not. And right click should definitely never affect my target. I disable any double click to interact style thing too. Target should remain as long as they would be rendered to me (so until stealth or disappearing in the horizon) no matter where camera is panned.
I would give a lot to have the camera stick to my target, especially because I consider re-targeting to be a huge hassle in Guild Wars 2. The tabbing logic uses closest to nearest instead of left to right and doesn’t pick from a narrow front cone before widening to frontal arc like other games. Also the tab cycle reseting logic when people enter and exit your view doesn’t feel natural. It’s really hard to look at a view with moving targets and know how many times I need to hit tab to pick the one I want by the time it gets to him, or at least I haven’t intuitively learned it in over 1k playing hours. I’d probably put all of WoW, Rift, WAR and Allods ahead of GW2 as far as tab targeting functionality goes.
I lose fights due to people attacking my UI, not only via stealthing but by simply providing a lot of pet, minion and illusion targets to interfere with my targeting. Left click targeting alone is obviously undesireable or difficult in many situations.

Right clicking on someone in WvW is now completely useless. Unless you want to report everyone you see.
Yes! Please, please implement this option!
the targeting in this game is bad…im standing still mind you shooting at a charging monster. then all of a sudden my character randomly decides to target wildlife or something just at edge range and make it come over to precede in the dual beating down of me or some other inanimate object like a grawl totem or something…witch this subject is only loosely related to the topic but..yea..that bad.
I have the same issue everytime I play dungeons where I lose my target or targets an ally where I should be maintaining a single throughout the whole fight. I didn’t know what causes it until I found this thread. This really annoys me. I’ve spent hundreds of hours already in the game and I still constantly lose my target. I just had to get this out of my chest.

I agreed with you in 100%. But because in 95% of time in game i hold right mouse button I’d prefer lock camera with mouse and unlock only when mouse targeting is required (for example for AoE attack etc.) or simply click to lock, click to unlock and this may be configurable in options.
Target losing is horrible and this really annoys me too.
And more ridiculous is that when i target npc or friend or pet I can’t loose target so easly…

ahhhh…. i thought my naga hex right click button got broken .. seems not my mouse fault then..
it will be nice to make Right-click a Camera Function-exclusive .
Yeah, this annoys me and my friends so much. I’m always using right-click for camera but end up clicking some other target. Really wished there was an option I could checkmark to make right-click camera only.
Yep, im playing d/d ele and im loosing 80 percent of my targets..its really annoying
we definitely need option to disable it
Agreed, for a action oriented game it has some very cumbersome controls.
This is the most annoying thing in the game. It would be great to be able to rebind left and right mouse clicks. At the very least we should be able to disable selecting with right click.
You either lose your target and have to go through tab to find it again or you just don’t notice and spam your skills on the ground in front of you for a few seconds.
This is almost game breaking to me. I don’t understand why it’s not on their “emergency fixes” list.
Because most of the players run around as melee swing heavy armors. meaning they rarely notice as the weapon does damage as long as they are close enough…
Another, tho unrelated, issue is that if you use ground targeting and happen to put the mouse even one pixel on top of the target info window your ground targeting circle ends up between your characters feet…
Between having a general interact button (F) and the action focused gameplay, i am surprised they didn’t go for a more Morrowind style interface. There you had mouse look unless the inventory window or similar was open.
I completely agree with this. Half the time I move the camera I end up losing my target, especially annoying in dungeons/wvw. It’s my #1 problem with the controls.
Hope this gets noticed by the devs.
Signed, finding it very annoying.
I have the same problem with right clicking to move the camera which change target. It’s very annoying and it would be pretty nice to change this.
I’ve had the problem forever. It’s constant and annoying and it’s everywhere. Something so basic should be fixed asap.

How about in sPvP fighting mesmers. You find the real one and then rotating the camera screws you up by selecting an ally or an illusion somewhere on the screen.
Another really annoying thing that’s related to camera rotation is sometimes when i pick something up (using F) my camera automatically spins 180°.
I don’t even know how to reproduce it cause i don’t know what triggers it.
First time I tried the controls in a PvE fight I rage quit. Right click issues, for sure.
I wonder if the game tries to only let you target things that are in line of sight, but it isn’t working that well.
Signed!
Very annoying when you change target while moving the camera. Specially when kiting, I accidentially target and attack “yellow” animals (killed a lot of Moas
Pls fix this. Probably one of most annoying problems in the game.
Seafarer’s Rest EotM grinch
I’m having the same problem. Impossible to use the right click mouse-look without randomly attacking things. If I target something and right click it starts my auto attack. I see posts about this going back months and months so it’s kind of idiotic that it’s not fixed by now. o.O
Agreed, this is the worst function in the game. This wasnt even a function in GW1.. why the hell does it operate this way in GW2?
Scenario in Descending order:
Initially have primary enemy targeted >
Right click trying to rotate camera >
Target Another enemy > Target Ally > Ranger Pet > Mesmer Clone > Random bunny… while trying to avoid the middle of your screen.
Plz remove this function, its terrible.

Fabulous ideas. 1. Allow us to disable right click targeting. Opt in preferred. 2. Allow for a “PvP mouse mode” Right click is permanently activated so during pvp we can use the mouse without having to hold right click ALL THE TIME. Add both of these and I will buy a gem card supporting ANet. KthxBai

This is very interesting. /iLike
And another one bumped for great justice!
