I am the kind of player who actually likes to embrace the “role-playing” part of MMORPGs with both myself and my guild (Create my own personal and living stories so to speak. ) so like some other popular MMORPGs like LOTRO I think it would be nice to have a place in the Hero tab where I could write a bio for my character, and maybe a way (when right clicking a player name for instance) to read bios of other players.

It’s a small cosmetic change but the kind of change that would mean a lot to me and other RPers.

This is a good idea. City of Heroes had something like that as well and lots of RPers made use of that feature.

That is a great idea, I can already see myself writing a old-fashioned story in a ancient basement with candlelight :P

But really, it is a amazing idea!

This is pretty standard stuff for roleplayers, and its certainly doesn’t impact anyone who doesn’t want to roleplay. Definitely yes.

Champions Online is another example of a game that made use of the Bio feature. As stated before it’s pretty standard stuff for RPers and I would love to see it implemented.

It would be great for roleplayers to have an option like this in the future! Also, The Secret World has a RP addon similar to this. It’s a very popular/in demand feature.

Really, it’s strange this was left out when they know they’ve got an active rp community. This isn’t like making new animations so you can sit on a stool. Another vote for yes.

I suggest something like this before as part of a “visual only inspect feature”. I idea was like yours but it was also lets players view a players armor without stats in a window. My idea also had a short interdiction text, guild introductions.

ADDING ONTO MY PREVIOUS IDEA

It would also be great to be able to write a bio for your guild! My guild in particular, while doing all the things other guilds do (WvW/Dungeons/Missions/Etc.) also focuses heavily on RP and has a big lore friendly history that I crafted specifically for it. Unfortuantly right now the only way my members can see this lore is through the guild website which not all members visit frequently. It would be great to be able to put this on the guild page, maybe in a seperate tab! And if so DEFINATELY give way more characters than on the Message of the Day.

You know… thinking about this now, I heard Anet won’t let us keep our pet names due to the amount of space it would take up on their servers… so what’s the chance our characters/guilds would be able to have large bios? :/

Anet barely reads suggestions and when they do they rarely take them seriously at all.

They didn’t have the drive to slap an “RP Server” tag on Tarnished Coast and Piken Square in a different colored lettering. What makes you think they’ll bother with this?

No one who understands anything about RP servers actually wants that, so it’s a good thing they didn’t.

If you think it’s so useless why even come around? How exactly do you expect them to handle suggestions? To drop everything they’re doing every time one comes up? To convert all their staff to fulfilling that suggestion?

They’re suggestions, they’re not directives.

A good point, but you took my post for something more aggressive than it actually was.

I didn’t say they should ‘drop everything they’re doing’, I just want them to take some of the suggestions more seriously. We see next to zero dev dialogue on these threads. Secondly, an RP tag for the server gives new players unaware of GW2RPers a place to flock to. Yes, worthless trolls go there as well, but that’d be what report/ignore are for and if the mods are as zealous on the game as they are here, there’d be no problem.
