Ah, I see now, OP, you are simply asking for sexy female armor specifically because that is what you want to see. Gotcha! The way you expressed this was just a bit unfortunate, as it gave the impression you did not want or care for equality in sexy/skimpiness between the genders.
And apologies if I came across as somewhat snippy. I had just thrown up my hands in frustration and scrapped my male Sylvari Ranger after being very disappointed with the medium armor selection. Neck to toe coverage, as far as the eye can see! Rerolled to a female because the armor sometimes shows a little bit of skin on them, at least.
I can see why you want more revealing armor but you have to understand that everything in guildwars 2 is tired to the lore. The norn are the once that I know of that have more revealing armor than any race in game.

“News flash”? That’s cute. How you’d come to that conclusion based on what I said, I don’t understand. I based my theory on my own experience in forum boards with this game and other MMOs. I’ve rarely (if ever) seen anyone request that more revealing clothes be added for male toons, or read posts where people admired the sexiness of a male toon. However, such posts regarding female toons are in abundance in almost every game. That is not me saying that such requests/posts don’t exist, neither does it translate into me believing that women have no sex drive.
I know that’s why I generalized the entire conversation with just add more armor lol instead of arguing over skimpy clothing for both male and female and whether or not x person wanted it and y person didn’t. If they just add more armor everyone should be happy. or not
I mean as an example. a spellcaster doesnt ‘technically need’ practical protective gear because they can defend themselves via other means; aka, magic

Well, Spartans don’t exist in Tyria. Since you don’t like real life arguments. Look at all the female soldier NPCs running around in GW2. They all wear full plate. This is how Anet imagines them to look like. It is the human style of armor.
Norn indeed have a slightly more revealing, berserker-ish style to them, as you can again see on the NPCs.
It is all about how Anet sees their world. And I seriously hope, they stick to that. More armors to choose from, sure. But please keep them in line with the current ‘vision’.
all i can say is, i’m using a lot of those transformation thingies. i keep getting skirt drops which from behind (which is how we see our toons), makes me look like my nanna. it’s a bit disturbing.
just to weigh in on the whole “women don’t like sexy”, i find that amusing. my wife’s spending an awful amount of time hunting revealing armour and the dyes to make it look “hot” for herself. i see her using my credit card an awful lot for those transformation stones.
i think some people need to stop responding to stereotypes and realise that, male or female, we’re all different and like different things. and that’s cool. otherwise i know my wife would be reading that “50 shades of grey” you mentioned rather than coming home and logging into gw2 with me…

Well what I can tell you from my experience, male characters are broken in many MMO in term of look and creation posibilities. In almost any game female model have more options to pick from. I’ve played most MMOs out there and GW2 is first after EVE where I actualy play male character. Just because I am possible to create something remotely similar to myself. In most games male characters are just ugly. GW2 isn’t perfect either but male customization is far better than in other MMOs.
Not trying to argue for either side, but I want to say that GW2 full-plate armor is not practical in any way.
You can’t do these insane dodge rolls in heavy armor.
You can’t run or swim or throw weapons or do fast attack moves in heavy armor.
Piece of metal won’t protect you from most kinds of elemental magic (cold, electricity, fire).
To be fair, skimpy armors should be available to all genders and all races. lets not discriminate. I look forward to seeing an Asura in a chainmail bikini.

So I get alot of guys (and girls too) want sexy looking gear for their female toons, to each and their own and nothing wrong with it. Human nature is human nature. However, I’m tired of being a female gamer that prefers something more conservative and realistic, having almost no choice in so many MMOs but to wear skimpy gear, to point I often roll a male toon, so if this suggestion is going to be taken seriously I just hope armors in the future don’t go overboard and at least strike a balance to please both crowds. Currently very happy with the choice and customization available at the moment, just hope female armors in the future don’t all become Tera style is all.

You must have had you eyes closed. All the woman I’ve ever spoken with want more ‘sexy’ clothes for men. That’s half the reason why they don’t play male toons, because of how ‘ugly’ they are. We’re minorities and our voice doesn’t get heard as loud. The posts get pushed down, but it doesn’t mean you ignore it.
Women aren’t as vocal about this as men, we talk about it but don’t preach it on boards like men do. We don’t have the need to openly express our sexuality to confirm our femininity like males do. It is seen as strange if men do not preform homosocial bonding and sexualize woman with other males. The men question others masquilinity if they do not join and in order to be normal.
Over compensating for masculinity, that’s how males in this society are raised. Woman don’t have to do this, so they aren’t as outwardly open about preferences. Instead they do it in other methods such as writing Fanfics, chatting and swooning to their friends privately about it.
Just because its not out there in the same fashion that you as a man are used to, doesn’t mean its not out there. There has been plenty of times i’d like to of wolf whistled at a man or had my group of girls obviously check out a man’skitten then to precede to tell him how wonderfully round it is.
I agree there should be a bit more “sexier armor” for the the medium. The light armor users have quite a bit of revealing armor almost too much to a degree, heavy have some but has a nice balance in my mind. I actually like the heavy armor a lot due to the craziness on how kitten some of them look. Then you come to medium where our armor is mostly us wearing rags or the skin of an animal it seems. I don’t expect us to be like light armor or even that revealing, just wish we had armor that looked half decent for spending 42k karma on and not 1 of every dead animal skin on me.
I really don’t know how I feel about this. I love the fact that men want women to be sexy and glorious and all that… but I don’t want women to be objectified as little sex puppets. Maybe I’m reading too much into all the demand for slinkier armor skins.

I think you are reading too much into it, Temariah. What I see is a request for additional armor appearances so that both female and male avatars may dress in a way that is either (or both) aesthetically pleasing to the player or fits the avatar’s personality.
Personally, I would love it if my male Norn could toggle his chest armor, like he can for his helm and shoulders. It would allow him to show off his chest tattoo, which is mostly obscured by any current heavy armor set, even the one posted earlier in this thread.
It’s my opinion that as more armor is added, both genders should have a variety of armor—heavy, medium and light—that allows them to showcase or cover their bodies as they see fit.

Just feel like I should mention that personally I’d like to see more of the opposite. Give me more big hulking metal fullplate female armour. I mean these characters are meant to be adventurers and hero’s so I want them to look like they could charge into battle and knock out their opponent with their armour alone!

I actually couldn’t bring myself to watch the new Doctor Who because I was so traumatised by the objectifying and slash-fic-ing of10. I eventually got over it… Mostly.
I think you don’t see this as much on video game forums because most MMOs don’t have “sexy dude” options for them to create content around. I feel like fanfiction, memes on Tumblr, fanart – creating content and talking about is where I see female sexuality expressed more vocally – when there’s something that’s so appealing to fans that they feel compelled to create around it.
To me, it seems like female fanbases aren’t content to just admire the “eye candy” – they want more and want to add content to the fictional world that’s intriguing them. Creating instead of just watching.

I think what the game currently has is fine with me. I don’t think that adding even more revealing armor is going to benefit this game, to be honest. There’s already decently revealing armor that’s both appealing and functional and to go any farther would stray from the GW2 universe and become an mmo that sexualizes violence with g-string armor that makes absolutely no sense in combat. I can see why people would ask for it though and as a gay guy i think it’d be sweet to see more revealing armor for males, but at the same time i’m really fond of the Guild Wars universe and seeing more strippers running around is just going to eat away at the immersion that ArenaNet worked so hard to build. And I understand the “this is an escape from reality, i don’t care about functionality” standpoint, but if an mmo starts to introduce things that aren’t actually functional or believable in that mmo’s universe then why bother use that argument when it detracts from immersion? Immersion sells the world to you, it’s one of the most important ingredients in developing a game. Kinda hard to escape into a game when the game’s not immersible. I’m sure, though, that in the future they’ll add more decently revealing armor sets. And if anyone is looking for a revealing chest piece, the Pit Fighter chest armor is pretty awesome and appealing
I want a corset for my male Mesmer. Seriously. We already have gay couples in the game, why not cross dressing? I hate having my arms and legs covered all the time…

I don’t think that we are asking to look like street walkers or scare the modest players away, but as an Engineer I would like to have more variety in the style of medium armor pieces available. I do not want to look like Cogliostro from Spawn, all the time.
