Spvp needs more complexity in the item area
The thing is balance. If you start adding armor/weapon stats into the equation you get a kitten load of problems. There are already numerous problems in spvp with balance and thats just with amulets/runes. The fact is balance is easier with less factors applying to it, look at it from a game developer’s perspective and say that “it’s much easier to just allow full custimization”.

One statement to answer your question.
Balance, the generic stats are there for balance so that the PvP games are not he who has the best gear wins, it is he who has the best skill.
Also note there are different stats on the runes, so that gives you flavor, but the gear all has the same stats for the reason of balance. Lets not chance that please, WvWvW is where you can go to get the my gear is better than yours so I have a 1% chance of beating you. In SPvP Gear doesn’t matter, it is he who knows his class, knows his build, knows his opposing profession wins.

It seems that you have misread my post in to being “why don’t people have better gear than others?”
Which is not really true. In fact. “Balance will have come from people having access to the same gear. But both would also have the option of other gear.”
I simply want the spvp to be a place were the players will all be equal in the options and ability to have access to the different gear(balance).
But at the same time have the complexity of the pve, and wvw gear so that the pvp gameplay of spvp is the same as the pvp in wvw.
But sadly as of right now the gameplay is not the same. Not because some people are imbalanced in terms of gear In wvw. But in the fact that people do not even have the ability to be as complicated in build and gear in spvp. that they can be in wvw
So put simply here is my question.
Would it be better to change spvp to something were all of the end game items from pve were in spvp? But everyone had access to all the different gear.
So in other words you could use that same build that you have on your level 80 full exotic character in spvp, and another guy that has never even played the game could use that very same build. Or a build they make from any of the items in pve. No 1 amulet simplify bull.

Balance? Balance of what. The gear? I think that’s a little idiotic. Yes some gear is better than others after you have put them all through a filter of what is most useful given these conditions. That’s the way it is suppose to be. Condition damage is better than critical damage in a condition build. Critical damage is better than condition damage on a pure damage build. That’s the way it’s suppose to be.
It’s balanced when all the players have access to all the gear and builds.
Gear can be extremely diverse. You can’t expect balance between," 100 toughness and 900 power" versus, " 500 vitality and 500 cond damage". Adding multiple factors makes it very difficult to adjust things wihtout hurting a certain build. Spvp is fine, it doesn’t stretch any build to the limit and it certainly doesn’ allow ridiculous builds to be made. I run a cond thief build in spvp and I still can acomplish 12/0, that shows that no one is constricted to one build in pvp. You are free to fully spec in one field and come out on top based on skill.
I ran a hammer/dual axe warrior once in pvp just to experiment with the Op of warrior (YES warrior is OP, but so are almost every other profession so stop crying) and found out how much of a problem I can become. I have little to no knowledge of warrior in pvp and I lived for soo much longer than I should have. I got 4 kills, like 6 deaths and yet we won. Why? because I lived and distracted the enemy for soo long. It wasnt’ a landslide victory, we hardly won.
the fact is, you can play like an idiot with some professions and still come out on top. Now thats with how little diversity there already is so imagine more variations of this… It just leads to problems they can’t manage anymore without shutting down pvp and reworking it from the ground up.

Pvp is made up of 3 things
Skill, build, and knowledge
Some builds are better than others. That’s the way it should be.
People should win because they have better skill,better build, and better knowledge.
I don’t care if you are the best player in gw2. If you are lacking in the build factor. Or the knowledge factor. You lose. That’s the way it should be.
Eliminating customization so that build is no longer as important as it is in wvw is not a balance. It is a limitation, and simplification. Nothing more.
Some builds are suppose to be more powerful than others. That’s the way it is suppose to be. Should I simplify the “skill” factor simply because some people have better skill than others? Or simplify the knowledge factor because some people have more knowledge than anyone else
Really in the end I should simply simplify this game to point were we all have the same class, weapons, traits, gear, and everyone has the same knowledge of everyone else. Oh and by the way the only skill needed in it is simply clicking 1 button. Don’t have to click it at a specific Time or anything. Just have to click it.

Spvp should simply be wvw pvp in a small map with different objectives and smaller teams.
Only everyone has access to all the different gear. That’s the difference I was promised. Nothing more
The idea that we should consider build important in one part of the game. Then suddenly change the rules so that it is not is kinda idiotic. As you are making “A WHOLE NEW GAME”

You’re asking to stretch what is alreadt broken in some people’s minds. Spvp is unbalanced, and it is beign worked on… no body’s fault. Asking to allow more options mean’s people will look for that build that becomes ridiculous and then more posts about “nerfing X” erupt and nothing is acomplished. X build should not entirely counter Y build, it should still require skill and thats the problem. Full hammer/ mace/mace warriior should not be able to stun lock someone for X seconds till they die, nor should necromancer be able to survive beyond belief, nor should thief be able to stealth infinite times, nor should mesmer be able to make unlimited clones… ther is already soo many problems with pvp atm adding additionaly optiions is too much atm. Maybe in the far future but atm, pvp needs work at its core before they expand.

Nothing in this game is OP. there are a few things that need trimming but other than that its fine. By adding more customization it will not make it chaos because it is not chaos in wvw pvp(were most people are unbalanced in items, exotic vs rare). Instead it will simply make the game whole and fixed as it was supposed to be in the beginning.
I should not have to play a whole other ball game just to get a “fair match”. I want to be able to go in to a match with a build I use on wvw, and fight some people that are on the same level as me gear wise. That way I could find the faults in my build/skill/knowledge, and improve on it……but in the spvp right now. I can’t do that.
Spvp should not be a whole other game. It should be the same game. Just with everyone on the same page gear level wise. That’s the core idea that I was promised.
Oh and Anyone that says something is OP. it usually is something that the player simply does not have the skill/knowledge/build to take down. Once I read a post about how someone complained about the Mesmers clones….made me laugh.
In the end. Nothing is OP. people are just stupid.

I don’t understand your logic. You want a balanced match by fighting someone who “may” have the same gear quality as you? And yes, some builds are OP, not professions but builds for those professions. Take a stealth thief for example. I main thief and I can truthfully say them taking advantage of the low stealth cooldown is a bit obnoxious. Same for mesmers who spec in full clones…. will the real mesmer please stand up? Don’t even get me started on warriors… There are touch ups to be done, you can’t expect to ever, EVER see pve stats in a pvp encounter outside of wvw.
PVP is made the way it is so the gear factor is compeltely thrown out of the park and all that’s left is skill and team cooperation. I don’t get why you think there would be a fair match up with some people who can get awesome stats and others who can’t due to family/job/life.

Tell me, how to counter a dual mace / hammer warrior? I need to equip 6 stun breaks? no wait we can’t get that many…. mesmers can sort of be countered since you can see the boons/conds on them and stealth thiefs are not invulnerable but still. People take advantage of these things and it isn’t intended, but it is OP. Not because other professions can’t “do that”, but because there is no way around them aside from playing their stupid tricks which unless your super talented and know all the tricks ends in disapointment and a respawn token.
How would you feel if someone who spent more time than you on a game dueled you 1v1 in pvp and won, simple because their gear had higher stats? Would you feel inclined to go back to pve and upgrade more or would you ask yourself,“pvp isn’t really skill based anymore is it?”. FPS have the same problem which is why I stopped playing them, it is hardly about skill anymore in them (most, not all). ArenaNet took the step forward and removed the problem of one being higher stats than another, and it is much much easier to balance (not saying it is perfectly balanced atm). Start adding things like player X has 500 precision and player Y has the same build but only 400 precision, suddenly you just made things that much more complicated and unfair for player Y. No one should be forced out of pvp simple due to armor, and they don’t. Nothing needs fixing aside from some profession skills/traits in pvp (exclude pve because we shouldn’t see nerfs when it hurts no one).
