Stop the Running and Stacking in Dungeons
Agreed. In addition to the below.
-Stacking (as you noted) is lame.
-Originally, GW2 wanted dungeons to be playable by any class and any assortment of those classes with any build. Now it’s all Zerk warriors, protection Guardians, zerk, zerk, zerk. This is even more incredibly lame than your original post.
I am guilty of stacking, but I never do it “just to make things easier and skip content”
It’s really all about strategy for me. Why, with an army of 5 people against 20 to 30 irate Svanir would I suggest everyone split up so we all have to face 4 targets alone, when we could all pull together and force the enemy into a position where we want them? It’s a tactical advantage, and something you’ll notice NEVER works in WvW for one important reason: your enemies are other players. The AI already flee from constant AoE attacks…
Why change something that works and only serves to illustrate how you can play smarter instead of just running in without a strategy? I pose that I have more fun playing in dungeons because of this teamwork, not despite of it, and I’m sure I’m not alone there.

I agree with your point but I cannot think of an instance where you are facing 20 – 30 mobs in a dungeon except for the little spiders in AC. The dungeon runners as of late want to stack on everything. The problem is that it works, unfortunately, and doesn’t require too much effort. It doesn’t work in WvW because your opponent would be like, “Oh, thank you for standing in a group and standing still.” (Cue Holy Hand Grenade).
Side Note: Stacking doesn’t work against the kamikaze little robots at the console in CoE does it? I’ve never seen anyone try.

On another side note: I’m not saying I’m innocent. I stack but I think one would be hard pressed to find anyone who does not.
I used the Svanir example due to the moment in HotW path 1 where you can do this, and stacking is simply a better idea.
And no, from my experience stacking in CoE golems while defending the cannon does not work. It does in the lazer trap room, however. Actually, almost every fight in that dungeons is a stack fight, and this isn’t really to make it easier, but to control AoE rings and targets. If everyone is targeted in the same small space, its much easier to avoid the damage as a whole.
I agree that more content that allowed for some more creative ideas in combat mechanics would be excellent. As it stands now, the go to strategies are “stack here” and “run past these”, but trash mobs are just trash. They aren’t required and all they do is add time. For the casual, non-hardcore market doing these things simply makes more sense. If you have 1 hour to play, stacking and running can mean the difference between doing just 1 dungeon run and possibly doing 3 instead.
