Suggestion For Race/Class maybe
That…kind of sounds like a fanfic.
I mean half dragons wouldn’t be a bad idea but it doesn’t work for the lore. The dragons have been asleep for a REALLY long time, in fact most people didn’t know they existed at all until they awoke. They’re kind of old gods. They remember when humans landed in Tyria (yes humans are technically aliens though the knowledge was long forgotten). I dunno if it would make sense to have half dragons when dragons weren’t even a thing in the minds of mortals until recently.
Granted someone may have a good argument for the idea, I just don’t think it makes sense.
Maybe you want to go read the lore first, and come up with a back story to explain:
- How we get a half-dragon
- How the half-dragon wasn’t killed when the races seem to hate anything dragon-y (Glint excluded)
- How they wreak vengeance on the societies when the main aim of PvE in this game is to work together to defeat the Elder Dragons.
Time is a river.

the reason i think it works is because the half-dragons can be like the dragons somewhat immortal and they learned a magic to turn them selves into humanoids that they were cursed with and can turn into a dragon but not be one permanently like they used to be sounds like that could fit into guild wars lore saying that this was lost tome of information the new humans and races have stumbled upon but never knew about before makes sense

they can work to defeat the elder dragons because they were cursed because they even tried to become a humanoid figure like i replied to the last guy they could hate them cause the elder dragons cursed them into that form so they are no longer complete dragon but can call upon dragon powers and turn into a dragon temporarily and they are a hidden society so that they wont die out but they are shunned from society not completely wiped out because the races still somewhat hated/feared to go into battle with a race that has the ability to turn into a dragon still but not full dragon

You can say that about anything in ANY lore. It’s not a particularly strong argument, and I don’t think the dragons breed at all. They just exist and create things due to their nature. They are pretty much forces of nature. They didn’t learn magic, they knew it. Magic and tomes and such were introduced after they were asleep when the human gods gave humans magic. So no, a forgotten tome would not exist.

i never said they breed i said they have lesser dragons that we dont know about that decided to turn into half dragons that breed and they inherited the magic and the curse of not being full dragon

It still makes no sense since these dragons didn’t even know what humans were when they slept. I think you really need to read the lore more before making these suggestions.

could have happend after they were awake but then my ancient lore idea does not work then change it to something to the effect of they changed and were a species recently found and shunned from society

could have happend after humans came
Why? They are mindless minions of the main dragons. They have no free will.

as far as i can tell there is no lore stating that so why not or if there is then they break of from the main dragons somehow and do this and then are cursed for doing so
1) The only Magic available to the Races is:
- Denial (Mesmer)
- Aggression (Necromancer)
- Destruction (Elementalist)
- Preservation (Monk, now Guardian)
2) The Dragons don’t care for cursing people and such. All they want is destruction. They’ve shown they have some measure of intelligence, so they aren’t going to go giving anything (aside from their Champions) their powers.

but the thing is the destruction would happen either way because half dragons destroy and they destroy them by cursing them but if that does not work then make it so the curse followed din doing the magic so they were cursed but not by the elder dragons if that does not work but it should

Which brings us back to where do half-dragons come from, if the Races can’t become them, and the Dragons don’t care for stuff like that?

I don’t think any of us are going to convince him. Keep hoping for half dragons, they are never going to happen I am sorry to say but there’s no harm in hoping.

i know it prob wont happen but if i can develop it enough to fit then maybe it is always a maybe but then again it is always a no until then
I don’t think they’re going to create a completely new race and a lore behind them when they got:
- Largos
- Kodan
- Tengu
- Centaur (Zhed, for eexample)
- Dwarves
That they can use.

ok how about a class then where it is an elite skill to turn into drag they are a race still shunned that study dragon magic to become more powerful they were heavy armor or there is a tree where you start as half dragon and then at level ten can chose between dragon mage dragon knight dragon thief for the tiers of armor or players can build them into what ever type of armor they can possibly have they still fight the dragons they just want to be dragon enhanced i guess
can i get more answers that are not from these 2 maybe support i like the criticism i nee to revise it yes but some help revising it would be appreciated i might be able to do some art of them if you guys want i have friends that will do it i can do it considering that i have a little practice from the game my friends and i are trying to make

No offense, but it just sounds like you’re throwing random ideas out with little to no thought of how they’d fit into the current game’s lore and mechanics, simply because you like the idea of a half-dragon race/class.
- What school of magic would it follow?
- What weapons?
- What would the style of combat be?
Not to mention:
- Classes don’t have different archetypes. An Elementalist is an Elementalist, for example. It doesn’t split into, say, a Pyromancer, Hydromancer, Geomancer and Aeromancer.

it kinda does lol but im saying then that they have a set armor or they can play to the players likes if it has arch types then so they appeal to everyone or they can play like anything not have arch types but can play versatile so they will not appeal to just the frontline bruiser type player but guild wars already does that kinda but it could still have arch types maybe

You don’t seem to understand what I’m saying.
As is, all professions have a theme, a combat style which them goes on to decide the Profession’s unique mechanic, skills, traits, weapons, armour type, ect.
Let’s take the Engineer for example:
The theme of the Engineer is gadgets and inventions.
Around that, the Toolbelt profession mechanic was developed.
Alongside that, they then chose the weapons:
- Rifle – with Blunderbuss type skills, and an unorthodox ‘Jump Shot’
- Pistols – Instead of just regular bullets, you got shrapnel shots, glue shots, poison darts, ect
- Shield – Shot that focuses on static, electric, magnetic ect
Then you got the Utility Skills:
- Turrets, different kits, Elixers
In short:
- Come up with the theme, then base everything around that.

ok i would go with that guardian type feel i would guess where there a frontline brusier mage type guy is the way i feel about guardians were heavy armor but have the utilty support/mage feel that guardians can have

i get what your saying in my previous post the mage/tanky character like the guardian based around what element of dragon magic they pick like the ele has his stones thief his masks/hoods warrior helms and stuff but half-dragons have there elemental choice of magic for there ability and that effect there dragon transformation to like fire burns ice chills and the undead cripple etc.
shameful self bump for this epic class
shameless self bump
I would like the Largos I think they maybe a playable race. We have heard and seen very little about them, but i did see a few of them with different fins and swap weapons, are those clues to what they might be able to use as a playable race? I also think Largos might be the main enemy of the Kodan if the Kodan are a playable race. The Largos main cites are in the northern seas off the shores of Kodan’s cites? I don’t know if that would work, but i guess we shall find out later on.
You argument on “Half-Dragons” sounds like a really really bad fan-fic.
As for a new playable race, I would like to be an Undead from Palawa Joko.
